God I just love Amber and Diamant so much. They really fulfill three of the most important criteria for a ship for me, in ascending order of importance:

They genuinely like each other. Serious and silly duos are usually written with the serious one being constantly irritated, to the point where you wonder why they even keep the other one around, but Diamant is consistently shown to be very fond of Amber, and to sincerely enjoy his silliness. And of course Amber adores him right back.

They’re actually better off for being in each other’s lives. Amber gives Diamant respite from his stressful life. Diamant gives Amber a greater purpose, and not just because Diamant’s a prince, but because Amber likes him as a person. They make each other happier people, particularly Diamant. It’s sweet.

It’s just so fucking funny

And then you’ve got Jade, witnessing all this, not as an exhausted bystander, but as a friend who’s even more enthusiastic about their nonsense than I am (only in a hilariously deadpan sort of way). Absolutely iconic trio. Love this game

The two princes podcast notes

Before my forgetful ass forgets all the details, I would like to list out some of my favorite parts of this podcast:

Rupert: Did you ever fall in love Chamberlain

Chamberlain: *nervous gay laughter*

"Thank you for being so beautiful" damn what an instant gay panic he couldn't even contain himself all he could do was damage control

You know how usually the trope is enemies-to-friends-to-lovers? They just went from rivals to lovers, skipped the friends stage

Their society: *is completely heteronormative and even a royal advisor was afraid to be out*

Like sometimes like with tdp the setting is made to be not heteronormative but this time it was and like people weren't publicly out

I think what I love most about The Two Princes (aside from the cliche romance tropes I absolutely DIE for) is that it’s simple in its plot and very easy to follow, and it’s quite obviously made for all audiences. There’s no swearing, no adult humor or “age-inappropriate” themes. I mean, they say stuff like “Oh my gosh” and “What the heck” when they REALLY don’t need to. It’s clearly meant for everyone to listen to it. 

So, a 5th grader can listen to this and hear about two princes falling in love and everyone accepting and supporting them. They can hear about lady knights and princesses fighting battles. They can hear about queens ruling their kingdoms without any help and telling toxic masculinity to go fuck itself… and I think that’s really cool.

was anybody going to tell me the two princes podcast is a heartwarming sweet story with gay main characters and strong independent women and a lot of both funny and emotional moments or was i just supposed to stumble upon it by accident on spotify
