There is more to life than him. There are cafes on cozy city corners with vintage chandeliers and that waiter that always smiles at you when you order a chai latte. There are christmas trees that shine through apartment windows and that seventy year old couple across the hall who walk around the park at 9:30 every morning. Rainy Thursdays when you’re awoken by the patter of rain on your roof and Sunday nights when the week is yours to conquer. There’s swimming in the ocean at dusk when the sky is pink and the saltwater is warm. There’s sweet wine to drink with your best friends and karaoke songs to butcher with any willing participant. There are bubble baths after a long day and a clean bed with fresh sheets. There are adventures waiting in some far off country and a boy who will look at you one day like you’re the only person in the damn world. There is more to life than heartbreak.

I know I said to myself and for everyone around me that I had moved on, I said that I had let you go, so why do I keep thinking about you? Tell me why everytime that song comes up I remember about you. I hate you so much for cutting me off because of her, I hate you for turning into the person you always said you wouldn’t be. I just want my best friend back, and I know it’s been a while now but I still haven’t forgot about you, and God knows I wish I did but i can’t. What did you do to me? I’m not the same since you left. Maybe I’m better off without you, maybe I’m a better person now, but I still miss you sometimes and it kills me. I keep thinking about all the conversations, everytime we stayed up all night talking about the most silly things, or all the times we shared food while watching our favorite movies at your house or the loud rock music we used to listen on the radio while you were driving me home. I used to think that our friendship was forever, that we would never run out of time, that was the only thing I was sure about. And now you’re gone, and I have doubts about everything again.
