This update really humanized Sebastian in a way I haven't really seen anyone point out in detail.

From the start people have been saying that he's a manipulative asshole, that he doesn't care about anyone but himself, but we see how untrue that is with his conversations with Painter.

The genuine warmth in his voice when he promises him that he'll help him remember his creator and reassures him that he's not a monster for having to kill others to survive, the way Painter gets him to open up about his interests, his grief and rage if the player kills Painter. It all shows how much of a heart Sebastian still has and how much he cherishes his friend.

I'd bet they got to know each other during his handyman days, maybe he snuck away to talk to Painter, that kind of friendship and trust doesn't just form over two days of extreme stress. Especially not for people as traumatized as both of them are.

I think what shows this best is the conversation where Painter asks if he's a monster for having to kill so many people, and Sebastian, who has been metaphorically and literally dehumanized for over a decade, who tried so hard not to become the cold-blooded murderer everyone condemned him as, only to snap and massacre the people who tormented them both, says that surviving doesn't make him a bad person.

I wonder how much of that is Sebastian talking to himself too...

Headcanon that Killer and Color learn flower language so they can communicate when Killer is still with Nightmare and keep their messages well and fully encrypted.

Killer leaves behind bouquets in the AUs they attacked to give Color small updates on how he's doing.

Color sews different flower arrangements onto his hoodie that he uses to answer back and remind Killer every time that they're still on the same side.

They keep up this habit once Killer is free. They always have a vase full of flowers in the kitchen to show Killer's mood. And Color's clothing are just as ornate and expressive as before. It becomes a habit and it's a reassuring one.
