Out and about with my Matty! #yummytexmex #welovedallas #stillnewlyweds #workinfortheweekends (at Matt's Rancho Martinez)
This is a current picture of "Lady Larsen". She is almost 4 weeks old now. We're anxiously awaiting her arrival which is set for March 12th :)
Loving Dallas and my handsome Matty! #wolfgangpuckasianstyle #rotatingdallasskyline #goingonadiettomorrow #mostromantichusbandever (at Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck)
Celebrating our new jobs :) (at Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck)
So we made it to Texas. I uploaded a couple photos I took on the drive out! Matt & I caravanned in our little Hondas (with a u-haul on my tow) from Salt Lake City Utah to Dallllllas Texas!
We split the drive into two days. The first day (Tuesday) we drove long and hard to Amarillo Texas. The next morning we were up and in Dallas around 3:30 that Wednesday afternoon. We literally went straight to apartment hunting as soon as we got in our beloved new city. We looked at three places that day, decided on our new home that night and signed the next morning. I had quite a few interviews lined up for the Thursday and Friday, so while I was running around like an idiot trying to figure out the freeway system in this HUGE new metropolitan area Matt was stuck at home unloading our U-Haul. Bless his heart, what a good husband I have!
Just a quick little side note on the freeways they've got going on out here. I'd just like to say how freaking confusing they are at first! First off, they call one area the high-five which isn't too bad now. But if you are completely clueless prior to driving into this gargantuan freeway intersection (of sorts) you are in for a lovely surprise. Next up is the "Mix master" which I have yet to master at all, let alone start to understand. Long story short, Matt & I tried like 6 or 7 times to drive to the hotel Davey (brother in law) was staying at Thursday night to meet up for dinner Thursday night and we just couldn't manage to figure it out!
Ok, back to our little Dallas time line. So Thursday & Friday I ran around interviewing & THEN Saturday morning we head off to New Orleans in my car WITHOUT our passports/birth certificates. Thankfully Matt realized this just a couple hours into our drive, but that still didn't stop us from having a bit of a panic attack. We freak out for a little, collect our thoughts, make a game plan and contact Matts Dad to help us check on flights from the Dallas Love airport to the Louis Armstrong Airport to get us to our ship before it departs. SO crazy, but things ended up lining up and we managed to make it on board our beautiful "Navigator of the Seas" with time to spare!
Any who, the cruise was great. I'll do another post dedicated to that alone.
Till then, I'm out and about in my new Dallas city :)

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the new blog, I hope getting to this page has been a good experience so far. If you need any help navigating feel free to email me. It takes a minute to figure things out, but once you've got it down this format is very very easy to update and add to (especially if you have a smart phone aka Awesome Apps).
Just a quick update of our lives:
Matt is already playing tennis! And I (Amber) start lessons the first week of March. We love Dallas so far and can’t wait to get started with work! Amber has a few things in the works job wise and is hoping to have a decision made about a job by the last Wednesday in January.
We’ll load some pictures or a video of our new little home when things are a tad more settled. While we love Dallas we really miss all our family that was so close in Utah & are already scheming on how to get people moved to Dallas!
We LOVE you guys!

This foreign talk show host can't stop laughing at one of his guests voice... this is so entertaining!!!
The more I live & learn the more I realize LOVE is the answer. It's what will solve so many of our problems if we just let it.
There have been a lot of things that have happened within my family lately that have made me really question who it is I thought I have been loving all these years. I walked away from the situation with my heart bruised & worn down due to my tendency to internalize the pain of those I love. I took a lot of what happened inside of me letting it affect my attitude. I was struggling for a while, letting my heart be weighed down by all the hurt happening around me. BUT I chose to turn to love & I have received so much love back! I've never cried so much in one week! It's not that I was feeling sad, but because I was feeling thankfulness, peace & joy for my ability to help my loved ones by simple acts of love.
Tonight at institute we talked about Alma 36 & the famous Chiasmus in the Book of Mormon. One of the teachers thoughts really stood out to me! He said that when he read the chiasmus he read it with the perception of a Father writing to a son with love in his writings and intentions. I'm not sure if the teacher was referring to Alma writing to his actual son, God writing to his son Alma and all his children, or both? But whatever way he meant it, it changed how I read that chapter.
I feel like everything that has happened really has brought me closer to my father, a man at one point in my life I feared. But now all I have is love, pure love for this man that I respect more than words can define. The thought of all he has done, for who he has been to me and so many others brings tears to my eyes.
A couple of Sundays ago we talked about about George Albert Smith and the 11 creeds he lived by in Relief Society. I was so inspired by his LOVE for mankind; haha are you catching the underlying theme in this post? By observing his life, he made loving those around him seem so easy. And maybe it is easy once you get things rollin'. I just remember being at the sink in the kitchen washing some dishes later that day thinking about all the hurtful things going on, getting so frustrated. But then reluctantly remembering Joseph F. Smiths creeds, hoping I had the courage & patience to live the same way.
I also feel so much love from my father in heaven when I'm at school. I'm a TA in Anatomy & I wonder sometimes in the midst of all the studying and teaching how someone could see the miracles of the human body and still not believe in a God. I went to a book review/discussion with the author Alan B. Rogers on his latest work "Evidence in Evolution", it was refreshing to see great men (a majority of the review/discussion was professors at the school) discussing the miracle of life with the acknowledgment or acceptance of a divine being at play. God loves us so much, he cared for us so much that he spent time to create the beautiful masterpieces that our spirits dwell in! Anatomy is a hard thing to study, and all I had to do was memorize the parts and the theories. I can't imagine coming up with all the pieces on my own!!!
I just pray to have love in my heart, so much that I can be forgiving when things get tough. I'm going to make an extra effort to make love a more permanent thing. I hope it won't be too hard, especially since the feeling is so addicting!
So here's to the love drug, and everything that comes with it! Now those are some side effects that I think I can handle ;)
Till my next post!

I'm taking a stress management course this semester at school & we've been doing some exercises to learn how to target and manage your stress. I've been realizing that a lot of my stress comes because people don't know that I feel left behind, forgotten or even not loved.
The other day in class we did this exercise that helped me realize this so well! I've always known I was a little hard to read, or even demanding in my own mind. And that I have VERY high expectations for myself as well as others (but I don't usually vocalize these expectations, I'm just disappointed when the people I love don't meet them.) I'm dumbfounded that I never ever ever put these two thoughts together! Haha absolutely shocked that it has taken me soooo terribly long to figure this out. I'm almost ashamed of my behavior in retrospect! Ahhhh haha human nature... we sure have the lower hand in this life with it as our primary state of function!
Well the other day I was listening to some good ole' John Mayer while I was cleaning my bathroom and the line "If you want more love, why don't you say so. Just say so." from one of his songs totally hit home! It's a hard thing to admit YOU are your own barrier to love. ***Side Note*** I'm not taking COMPLETE responsibility for ALL the lack of the big ole red heart action in my life, but I am owning my part which is probably a vast majority of the problem.
So here's to a new me, a new understanding, a new beginning! I'm excited!!!
Till next time :)

My second new years resolution.
To actually go to bed at 10:00/11:00 PM like I keep promising myself!
It has been a little bit harder to do at my new house. Haha, because every time I actually do go to bed earlier my roommates seem to have a dance party in the kitchen, which is located right above my bedroom! BUT hopefully I'll rub off on them and we'll coordinate our sleeping and dance party schedules :)
I also no longer having a lab till midnight almost every week night, so that should help me gain a few more REM cycles. ***Side Note*** Did you know REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement... like the creepy rapid eye movement you make when your sleeping... ugh eyes just creep me out ***End of Side note*** Not to mention a little drug called Ambien. ONLY for the days when I just CAN'T seem to fall asleep! {Mother don't hate me if your reading this}

I had no idea Leighton Meester had such killer voice.
I'm considering being a TA for Anatomy this next semester...
Still a little undecided. I have to decide by Saturday.
Hmmmph, decisions decisions.
