Rin’s eyes seem to sparkle as they get closer and closer to the village. Her doe eyes jolt all around taking in the beautiful flowers as she was tempted to run around and touch as many as possible. The desire to make a flower crown was strong, but she knew there was the veiled threat of Sesshomaru’s punishment if she were to do such a thing. So, she remains at his side and curbs the temptation. She reminds herself that she is a good girl.
When questioned, Sesshomaru responds, “What is your race and alliance?”
It was best to know what he was walking in to. Though they did not seem like a threat, this did not extend to the rest of the village and it was best to find out while they had a chance to escape.
The demon lord was able to assess they were yokai, but his senses seem to be off. First, he’d gotten them lost, and now he could not determine what strain of demon they were. Mayhap he was growing ill. That would explain his dilemma, not that he would admit this.
He was a demon. With a small amount of rest, he would make a full recovery.
Hearing him speak, Rin’s eyes peek up at the Demon Lord through long lashes. Confused by his own question, he was being a bit too convenient. It put Rin on alarm, and she was sure Jaken was the same though he remains smart by not bringing it up. Perhaps it was the risk of being abused by his Lord. So she decides to stay quiet as well, no need to alert the enemy to a weakness, but she decides to be on guard.
⧔⧚起死回生⧛⧕ ⚔ She looked slightly startled at that question, as she was not sure he was asking her personally, which was not strange. She was very odd looking, or if she meant them all as whole. Quickly she schooled her expression, and bowed slightly. ⸎ ❝ I am not quite sure if you mean mine, your lordship, or as the village as a whole. ❞
❨ She returned her gaze to him, and gave him a small smile. ⸎ ❝ I am a sheep apparition(Yōkai) within the honorable spirit(mitama) branch of spirits. Unlike you’ your lordship, or some gods, I was not born; but made from the soul of a dead person, a child to be exact. I represent the innocence of a person. Since I died a child with innocent not stained, meaning I died naturally; my part is to care for children's innocence, to guide them. I teach qualities of gentleness within children who have encountered despair such as fear, vulnerability, and feeling of being overwhelmed.
As for my alliance your lordship, I had none, but to the children. I once wandered from over this mountain, bringing calm to children I passed. Now my alliance is to my chosen master, for as long as they are trapped upon this mountain. I will continue to stay by their side until death comes for them, or they are freed from their rope. At that time, I will wonder again as my home will no longer be here.
If you speak of the village as a whole, our race is many, your lordship. Some of these here are wondering spirits such as I, of the dead who have come for protection under our master, and a place to call home. Other’s are, or were gods who wandered into my master territory either to see if the story of this mountain is true, and entertain themselves to what will become of our master, or wondered here to hear the tales of another powerful being who loves humanity.
We also have demons like yourself, your lordship, or spiritual demons like the master who are born as beasts, and hold no human soul; as you know you both are in the class of natural gods. Although, you have been our first great demon from such a time. Most who are here are lower, or middle to high class, or had simply passed, or are passing on by for only a sort stay of rest such as you and your group.
As for the villages allegiance as a whole it is to the master of the mountain. You may know them your lordship as ‘Zetsumei - bringer of death’ from the story of the beast who loved their human village enough to aid them even though their hate. Although, we refer to him as master, or by his human given name Kokugatsu Akagage.
Even if you are not of this village, and are only passing through you must abide by all rules of the village. No violence is allowed to come to any within this territory. Any humans who wander through, although are an extremely rare site, are not to be touched, or bothered. Anywho break these rules are subjected to punishment, your lordship.
Depending on the severity it could mean being chased from the lands, or attacked in self defence. Master has even had to kill several violent offenders who attacked. Either because they are evil for evil sake of picking on those lower than them to gain strength, or evil because they were made as such for various reasons. However, your lordship, that is only if they can neither not be reasoned with, or chased off.
This land is considered cursed, so humans tend to avoid this side of the mountain, and we are located to high up for lost humans. Although we have also had spiritually aware humans such as exorcist, and demon hunters come through.
Lucky for us, most humans in those category either move on with a simple warning if their intention is of disrespect, or evil. Or they have come simply here to speak with the master. The master has so many coming, and going, and so their connections are vast. They hear many stories, and often they trade with these humans information, for human goods, your lordship ❞
