[he playfully and Very Gently kicks yu’s leg under the table] you got me…

[he nods as yukari talks, thinking about all the potential dates he can take yu on. there’s a lot, now that he thinks about it. restaurants, arcade, hangout spots…even the bookstores would be fun to shop at with yu. he takes a big slurp of noodles while he brainstorms]

oh, the view’s incredible. it’s like the cliff that overlooks inaba. breaking into the school to see it…so romantic. [this sounds like a joke, but it kinda isn’t. it sounds like fun to him. committing crimes with the bf]

[he laughs a little at the kick, nudging minato in the side just as gently with his elbow out of retaliation, falling silent for a few moments after to eat some more of his curry.

breaking into a school huh..? he guesses he wouldn’t be entirely against it if it was something minato wanted to do but if they got caught and got in trouble because of it? he would probably feel terrible. he picks up his own drink and takes a sip out of it. and then another sip. there’s something he kind of wants to say but thinking about saying it makes him embarrassed]

That’d be interesting to try… [he puts his drink down and looks off to the side] I dunno if you’ll still be living there but. I wanna see your room.

[she covers her mouth in a sort of fake little gasp. sort of because there is some genuine surprise to it. that was an awfully bold thing to say. at least in the presence of someone who has been kind of openly teasing them all afternoon]

well if you mean his room back at the dorm right now...we’re definitely not going to be living there by the time you guys get back together i think. [she lowers her hand and takes swig of her own drink] it’s not that special anyways, if it makes you feel better. minato didn’t do much to decorate it last time i saw the inside of it.

if you meant like...wherever he ends up living after this, though. that’s a pretty different story.

haha. i told you, that’s part of how we work. [he takes a quick sip of his beverage. did they get beverages yet? probably in a place like this.

he nods at yukari] think so, yeah. some of our relatives are kinda the same way. [he eats a piece of meat from his ramen as he thinks] dunno what our parents were like, though..

[okay, he’s just gonna shift the conversation before it starts getting Vaguely Sad] but yeah, we get that a lot. [he stirs his ramen around to cool it some more while looking at yu again] you said you stopped by hagakure while you were at port island, right? ’s even better than this, and that’s saying something…

So you’re just with me for the food…. [he tries to make his tone as obviously joking as possible, laughing a little after. it’s a little short lived, though, considering the mention of his parents. he’s sure minato doesn’t want pity and yu doesn’t think he’s pitying him. it’s just hard to not feel bad sometimes.

especially since he still has his parents. and thinks they suck. he doesn’t get to linger too much on the uncomfortable feelings bubbling in his chest since minato changes the subject] Yeah. It was really delicious.

..I’d like to go back again. To Iwatodai in general. It was a really nice place.

i didn’t know you’ve been to port island! you should, though, it’s great and i’m not just saying that cause i live there and am probably super biased. [she smiles and leans forward slightly on the table for a moment] minato can take you to aaaall the best spots. there’s some really nice date places there.

[she leans back a little, tucking a strand of hair behind her head before taking a moment to slurp some more of her noodles and then have a sip of her own drink] we’re gonna be graduated by the time you two get back together but...the view from gekkoukan’s rooftop is really nice. it might be worth breaking in and entering if you can.

yeah..? [he tilts his head slightly at yu, squeezing his hand back] if you say so…

[he blinks at yukari before lowering his head slightly, hiding his face with his hair. he??? wouldn’t have pictured himself being like this, either. yu just brings out that soft, vulnerable side of him so easily. even near the beginning of their relationship, yu just reduced him to a mushy pile on the floor. not that he minds. he likes being able to act that way with someone. he continues eating as he thinks about this, cheeks turning a bit red.

he looks back up when yukari continues] hah, yeah, something like that…there were fries, too. [he looks back at yu] junpei, uh, was buying and insisted i get whatever, so…that’s what i got. [he feels a bit guilty looking back on it now, but on the other hand, it’s still pretty funny. he can’t help but smile a little]

[the momentary embarrassment causes him to tilt his head a little, rubbing small circles on the top of minato’s hand with his thumb. he’s…very cute and if yu wasn’t afraid of embarrassing him more he’d probably say something about it. if yukari wasn’t here he’d definitely be kissing him right now. he really wants to but killing his boyfriend would be terrible. it’s the last thing he wants.

he can’t stop himself from laughing lightly as minato expands on the story. hearing about it makes him feel a little bad for junpei but not too bad. mostly because he can only imagine how happy minato was to have all that food. it’s an endearing image] Mm…the easiest way to your heart is through food, huh..? Guess it’s good I can cook. [he pauses and then gives minato a very curious look] ..Did you actually manage to eat all that, though..?

yep! he totally did. sometimes i don’t think minato has an actual stomach but like...a black hole in there instead. [she slurps up some more noodles between sentences] hamuko isn’t any better, though. i guess it’s just something that runs in the family, huh?

[he smiles at yu’s reaction, embarrassment easing slightly. he turns back to his own food]

i don’t always steal your egg… [he glances over at yukari’s egg, tempted. he already had a habit of stealing food, but it only got worse when he started stealing eggs from kenji out of spite. he decides not to today and slurps up some noodles from his own bowl. Tastey] mm…sometimes i spare you. besides, he gave me a bite of his food. ‘s only fair.

[he smiles a little tenderly at minato, taking another spoonful of curry and popping it into his own mouth. the snuck glance at yukari’s egg isn’t unnoticed but he’s not going to say anything. yu thinks minato has the right to take anyones food whenever he wants. love is a very powerful thing]

You know you can take food off my plate whenever, though. I don’t expect anything back. [he gives minato’s hand a little squeeze. assuming they are still holding hands while also eating anyways] I like sharing with you.

you two are so muuuushy. [she groans a little, not seriously, of course. she isn’t bothered by them at all. sometimes you just have to tease one of your best friends] honestly, i can’t get over how much i never pictured you being like this, minato.

[she takes a moment to Slurp. it’s good ramen but not hagakure good and that thought leaves her feeling a little homesick.] must be nice having a boyfriend who doesn’t mind you taking all his food, though. [she glances over at yu, pointing her chopsticks at him] you know, one time when he, junpei, and i went to wild duck together and he got like...a 50 stack wild duck burger. and drink that was like bigger than his head.

[he glances between the spoon and yukari’s face. that is. the exact expression he was expecting from her. oh well. he blushes lightly and gives her a Look before taking the bite]

oh, that is really good. [he turns back to his own food, picking up half an egg and holding it up to yu. this is much less embarrassing when they’re alone, but honestly? it’s fine] here.

[as soon as he notices the shift in expression on yukari’s face, he gives minato an apologetic look. he should have predicted that really. now he feels bad. not that he has much time to dwell on it since minato offers him a bit of egg.

he shifts a bit of an embarrassed glance over at yukari for a quick moment before leaning over a slightly to take the egg in his mouth] You shared your egg with me… I must be the luckiest guy alive.

[watching them is highly entertaining and she’s unable to stop herself from giggling a little. she does feel slightly bad. they both look incredibly embarrassed about this. then again she did get the feeling that both of them spent most of their time together Alone]

oh you’re definitely lucky. minato doesn’t just share his food with everyone. [she pulls some of her noodles up and out of their bowl, imitating minato’s earlier act to help it cool slightly] in fact, if you had an egg in your dish he’d probably be stealing it right now. i’m shocked he hasn’t stolen mine yet.

[he nods at Both Points by yu] bit of snooping never hurt anybody…

yeah, they’d definitely freak out. [he tilts his head, as if in deep thought] of course, that wouldn’t be an issue if they never knew…just kidding. [he’s not actually sure if he wants to snoop, but it is. a little tempting.

huh. he could’ve sworn they ordered the food last time they were here. guess they didn’t actually have to. he just shrugs and picks up some noodles with his chopsticks to help them cool] it does. looks really good, too. [he glances over at yu’s curry] so does yours. how is it?

[he goes quiet after his very questionable snooping advice, looking up in surprise when their food gets brought to them. it’s hard to not cast a little bit of a suspicious look down at the curry in front of him.

..it really does look tasty, though. he carefully shoves away any suspicion and picks up the spoon left for him in the rice, scooping a spoonful and putting it in his mouth. well, it definitely tastes good to say the least. he looks at minato and gives him a quick little nod and then a thumbs up] ..It’s good. You said you wanted a bite too right?

[he proceeds to scoop up another spoonful of the curry offering it to minato. sometimes you just gotta feed your boyfriend in front of his friend. it’s fine]

[she raises a brow when yu offers his spoon out to minato and she’s unable to stop herself from looking over to minato with an expression like

this. she’s not even going to say anything. just slurp her ramen and stare]

true. they miiight remember if they got together here, but…i'unno. [he shrugs]

that’s…a good question. [he looks off to the side and twirls a lock of his hair around his finger] i can see them doing that. especially shinjiro-senpai.

…which is fair, honestly. we’d definitely tease them about it.

[he tilts his head a little as he listens to minato talk] Mm…if they want privacy on it they have a right to it.

..You also have a right to snooping and trying to find out too. [he lifts his free hand to cover a very small and kind of mischievous smile on his face] It’s not like they can stop you.

very, very true. [she nods in agreement, giggling just a little bit] i dunno how much i feel like i wanna pry, though. knowing those two it’d probably end up in disaster somehow.

[she’s about to talk more but is cut off by a waiter bringing over their food- wait, did they even place their orders? well. it probably didn’t matter too much, this place was pretty weird anyways. she pulls apart her chopsticks and pokes at her ramen a bit] hmm...smells nice.

[he grins back at yu and glances down at their hands before turning back to yukari]

mm…it is hard to tell with those two…i doubt they’d act much different if they got together. [he plays with a lock of his hair] i mean, they were basically a couple to begin with. they better actually be by now.

Mm…you could always ask when they get turned back to normal. [the suggestion feels kind of silly as soon as it leaves his mouth. that’s a very nosy thing to do. also who knows when they’re gonna be not wormed. it took minato and him ages to be turned back] If…you remember, anyways.

s’not a bad idea. might have to write it down somewhere you can’t forget, though.

[she brings her other hand up to her mouth to stifle a yawn, lowering it after and drumming her fingers against the table for a moment, smiling a little] but, yeah. you’re right. if they’re not together by now that’d just be embarrassing. they basically already always acted like an old married couple. honestly, how do we know they haven’t just been dating secretly the entire time and didn’t wanna tell anyone?

yeah..? [he skims through the menu one more time before folding it up and setting it down] i’ll get the ramen. i’ll have to try a bite of your curry, though. if that’s okay.

[he chuckles a bit at that. he leans his chin against one hand and holds yu’s hand with the other] hah…i dunno, actually. what haven’t we talked about yet…? [he goes quiet for a sec to think] ..speaking of relationships…did akihiko-senpai and shinjiro-senpai hook up yet? before they got old, i mean.

You know I don’t mind that. We basically share meals all the time, anyways.. [he gives minato a Little smile before falling quiet and looking between him and yukari, rubbing his thumb gently across minato’s knuckles]

sanada-senpai and aragaki-senpai, huh..? [she furrows her brows in thought, trying to recall. to be honest, she’d...just kind of assumed they’d be dating the whole time so she can’t say for sure.

after a few more moments of silence she just shakes her head and gives minato a little shrug] i think they were but i didn’t actually know for sure, you know..?

wait, seriously..? freaky…i wonder if they do that here, too… [he hums in thought. the possibilities. he’ll have to write down the number and see if it works. if it does, he’ll end up ordering from inside the labyrinth just to do it.

he picks up a menu as well and looks through it, gently drumming his nails on the table] ummm…i really wanna try the ramen this time… [he considers his options before looking at yu next] any recommendations, or…?

The ramen is pretty good if you get it. Umm…I really have a hard time recommending anything in particular because I think most of the stuff on the menu is really good. [he laughs a little nervously, drumming his fingers against the table and tilting his head back to think a bit more] They..have a really good curry here. That’s what I was thinking of having this time, anyways.

[when he looks back he gets a little flushed. his advice was not at all helpful and he recognizes that] Just…follow your own instincts I guess.

[she tilts her head a little at that and makes a mental note to just get the ramen like minato. she closes her menu and leans back in her seat, stretching her arms out in front of herself before leaning back over the table and resting her chin in her hands]

soooo............what should we talk about? i kinda wanna keep talking about your guys whole thing but if you have anything else on the mind i don’t wanna totally hog up the conversation with your relationship.

[he furrows is brows at yu in a bit of a concerned manner. he figures he doesn’t wanna talk about it in front of yukari, so he makes a mental note to ask later when they’re alone] hm…alright.

yup, here it is. [as soon as they make it, he starts to climb out of the cart] yu brought me once before, and we had this beefbowl challenge thing that was really–ah– [he struggles to keep his balance while swinging his legs out, but he manages and hops off. he stretches his back] –it was really good.

The food here is just really good in general. I guess it kind of needed to be, though, since this is one of the few restaurants here that managed to survive after Junes showed up. [the second minato is out of that cart and done stretching he immediately just latches onto him to hold his hand again as they walk into the restaurant and find a booth to take a seat in]

This place is all sorts of good stuff…I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it before but they do delivery. [he doesn’t really bother to open his menu or look at it considering he comes here so often] They, quite literally, deliver anywhere. You don’t have to tell them where you are. They’ll find you.

what? that’s... [she’s not sure how much she believes yu but he’s talking so seriously that it’s making her question herself. did they? that’d be kind of freaky if they did. she’s honestly not sure how much she wants to think about it like this, actually] well. i guess i’ve seen weirder.

[she goes quiet after that and picks up a menu and skims through the options. lots...of meat dishes. she furrows her brows a little and looks over at minato] ...what are you getting?

[he nods] i hope so, too…that seems like a pretty shitty situation to be in. [he leans his head back to look at the sky for a second] maybe they’ll let her. who knows…

[he leans his head forward again to look at yukari with a very fake pout. he didn’t expect her to call Dibs™ that quickly] well then. i expect a full report. [he turns to yu next. his expression caught his attention as well] looked nice..?

Mm..I hope they do. At the very least, I hope she’s able to let herself do what she wants regardless.

Ah- [he looks off to the side out of embarrassment and clears his throat] I…I didn’t get a chance to go in when I spent the night there. It’s a long story. [thinking about it makes him. Feel. his scowl deepens] I’ll…tell you more later if you want to know more…

[yukari gives him a curious look, tilting her head and squinting suspiciously. what kind of embarrassing secret did he have? she wants to know. but she won’t pry. making her best friends boyfriend uncomfortable wouldn’t be any good so she just falls into silence as they continue walking.

after a few minutes they’re at aiya. because like. god it has been so long they need to be there i’m shaking] oh..is this the place? how rustic looking..

ohh, an onsen…we’d really have to plan a party at her place if that’s the case.

sorryyy yukariii…. [he folds his knees and wraps his arms around them. he tilts his head] but yeah, sounds good. i didn’t know her family has an inn. lucky…well…maybe not, if she has to work there all the time.

[yu gets pretty flustered at yukari’s callout and clears his throat, mumbling a little apology himself]

Mm.. [he hums a little. yukiko loved her family and the inn, he could tell that much but she also hated feeling locked to it. like she didn’t have any choice about what to do with her life. which was…pretty relatable honestly] Yeah…she’s set to inherit it but she doesn’t really want to. It’s such a nice place but she’d rather do what she wants with her life, I can’t blame her for that.

The onsen is really nice, though. [actually. he never did get to go in it himself now that he recalls. he makes a face] ..W-well. It looked nice. I’m sure it’d be nice…

oh...that sucks. guess she doesn’t have any siblings or anything who could take it in her place then, huh..? [yukari pouts a little as she looks down at the ground. having the choice to do whatever you want with your life is something she might take for granted] ...well. i hope she gets the chance to do whatever she wants with her life anyways. everyone deserves that.

[when she looks back up yu’s expression is. a little suspicious and she tilts her head a little out of confusion] ...weeeeeell, maybe i should just use it before you guys do and tell you to make sure! sounds like a great plan to me!

[he blinks a lil. yu looks a bit upset, if only for a moment] i’d like that, too… [he wonders about it, too. maybe they Will do stuff like that for the years to come. who knows, but it sounds nice] it’d only be fair, after all…

[he leans forward slightly at the idea] perfect. i’ve always wondered how she lives…d’you think they have like…an indoor pool? i. dunno anything about rich people.

Mmm…Probably. [he’s not quite sure if that was a question directed at him but he can’t stop himself from answering anyways] Maybe a hot tub too. Or her own personal onsen…

[that…sounds really nice. rich people have it way too good. he sighs a little, resting his chin on his hands as he pushes the cart] …Speaking of that…we should go and check out the one at Yukiko’s family inn. It’s really nice. And would probably be even nicer since it’s cold out. And since there aren’t many people around who know about it.

you know, it’s really rude to keep extending obvious date ideas to each other when i’m right here and i’m obviously not invited. [she pouts a little and crosses her arms indignantly, looking off to the side] ...that does sound nice, though. i might go for myself, honestly.

oh, that’d be cool. i wonder if a real tree would be better, or… [he trails off] oh, nice. i could always go for some fancy food. maybe we can play games and stuff, too… [hmmm. sees never really all hung out outside of shadow stuff. the idea makes him feel a bit tender inside. just a bit]

…yeah… [his mood shifts slightly at the thought of forgetting everything here] …eh. ‘m sure we’ll plan something once the season rolls around.

[yu gets pulled out of his thoughts momentarily when he hears the slight shift in minato’s voice and he looks down at him, tilting his head a little. perhaps if yukari wasn’t around he’d press him a little more on it]

..Sounds like you guys are gonna be doing something fun then, huh? Too bad we’re two years apart in time, I wouldn’t mind going to a nice party. [mostly he just wants to be with minato. plus, in retrospect, he’s probably not going to have any fancy christmas plans back home. in fact, there’s a really good chance he’ll be alone on it now that he thinks about it. the thought makes him tighten his grip on the shopping cart slightly] You guys’ll just have to throw more Christmas parties when our groups meet up again in the future to make up for it.

weeeell, i’m sure that could probably be arranged. [there’s a playful tone to her voice but honestly, it’s not a bad idea. they all won’t be able to live together forever, unfortunately, so if they could get together for events like that it would be a nice way to make sure they never stay out of touch.

not considering the fact they were all still working together to beat shadows in the future, anyways] ooh, we could probably have em at mitsuru-senpai’s mansions or something when we all leave the dorm..! talk about a perfect setting for a party.

i was kinda thinking the same thing, actually. i definitely don’t have plans, either. [he scratches the back of his head and smiles gently] i’d like spending it with you guys…

[i have nothing productive to add here on yu. he’s still just thinking and pushing the shopping cart]

it’d be a lot of fun to spend it together! can you imagine getting a big tree up in the dorm and decorating it together or something? [now that she thinks about it, the dorms would probably suit festive decorations really, really well. it’d probably be gorgeous] i’m sure mitsuru-senpai would be able to get us really really nice food for a party too...

..christmas is gonna be a little far away when we get back, though. i hope we remember. or at least have the idea to ask again so we actually end up doing it.

[he glances over to the side, hiding part of his smile with the palm of his hand. he feels the same way as yu. their letters and how their friends described the old man versions of them…it sounds like they’ll feel that way for a long, long time. the thought is comforting and makes him wanna melt just a bit] yeah…i’m glad, too.

..huh..? [yukari snaps him out of his thoughts] oh– yeah…we might just hang out together at yu’s place and do something there. not sure what, though.. [he goes quiet again. he should probably find yu a gift. and maybe some gifts for his friends, too. Hm]

Mm…unfortunately since this isn’t a big place there’s not much exciting stuff to do around here for Christmas dates. [he blushes a little and glances off to the side as he continues] ..I still want to do something nice, though. I’ll find a way to make it special…

[it might be a little hard with minato hanging around his uncles house all the time, though. at least if he wants to do a big surprise or something. he hasn’t quite worked out what he wants in that regard yet. maybe he should get a tree…? lots to think about]
