Similarities attract
In this fic: bakugou x reader; kinda enemies to lovers; reader acts similarly to bakugou; taking place during one of the hero internships; no mention of y/n
My last post flopped so hopefully this is better

The Best Jeanist agency always welcomed Bakugou with open arms while simultaneously training him half to death. Both physically, but also manner wise.
This time, it appears that the hero, Hakamada, has a type when it comes fo his internships. Even though her quirk is unlike Katsuki’s, her overconfident personality beamed across every room.
Think about how a normal person would act on a really bad day. Well, this was her regular behavior. It pissed the blonde off.
When she so carelessly bumped into him in the hallway of the agency, he just had to react.
‘What’s your problem, extra? You have a spare life to lose or something?’
She just…didn’t reply. Instead she gave him the nastiest look. In that moment, he felt like a villain who committed a crime and therefore needed to be treated as such.
Nobody treats Bakugou that way. It disrupted his routine a little bit. He would go out of his way to spar with her, just to show her how strong he is and that he cannot be looked down upon.
As he made the mistake of pouring oil to the fire, he was in a compromising position — headlocked and bound to the floor, her other arm roughly keeping his in place.
‘Yeah? Will you stop being an asshole now?’
she said, her voice breathless as she used the entirety of her strength to keep him down as he resisted.
Her question made him think hard. What did she mean by that? If anything, he should be the one telling her that she can’t act as if she’s the center of the heliocentric system, so full of herself that she could burst?
Whatever, he has a test in history soon, in case you couldn’t tell. He’s trying so hard to take in the words on the page. He can’t afford to get anything below the perfect score. He’s the best, after all.
The words are still just that. Almsot unintelligible concepts that he would’ve grasped by now if it wasn’t for the trouble in his head.
The other day was hell too. Apparently, some nerd in the agency started making a conspiracy that the arrogant girl and spiky hair like each other. Katsuki just scoffed at that. What are those rumors, if not just extras making things up because they’re bored and not doing their jobs.
She didn’t take it that way, though. Instead of her usual looking down on him, her snide remarks, the curses and threats — came the cold shoulder.
His chest hurts. It hurts so bad. He didn’t realize how much he needed that banter, sometimes playful but other times quite sharp and personal. He didn’t know how much he liked her until she ignored him.
Did the rumor really hurt her that much? Can she not stand the idea of the two of them liking each other? Is there something wrong with him?
He had to find out himself.
Angrily walking over to her after patrol, still in their hero suits, he slams the door of the agency, both of them standing in front of the changing rooms.
‘You got a problem with me, huh?’
Of course the words couldn’t quite come out how he wanted them to.
‘Have you finally gone crazy or what?’
She furrowed her eyebrows, throwing down her duffel bag with a thud.
‘You’re acting like I don’t exist, that’s what I’m talking about. What’s your problem, you brat?’
He crossed his arms. He never felt this way before, not even as he was arguing with her in front of the Best Jeanist agency’s changing rooms. Maybe he should admit it to her. Maybe he should admit to himself.
‘I just don’t wanna waste my energy on someone that clearly hates me. You try to one up me every day and now that I’m putting a stop to it, suddenly il the problem?’
‘Shut up’
He snarled, a scowl on his face.
‘You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re the one always looking through me like I’m nothing more than yesterday’s trash. How dare you act that way towards me?!’
He lashed out, he was breathing faster. He really should admit it.
‘Huh? Is grumpypants getting mad? You’re being a jerk and you can’t expect me to not return that behavior. You want me to let you walk all over everyone then go cry in my room? That’s not going to happen. You get the treatment you deserve.’
He seriously can’t take it anymore.
‘I’m not a jerk. I’m not trying to be a jerk. I just…when you glared at me that day, I never felt more ashamed.’
He said, his voice raising. He felt frustrated — both at her and himself. He just had to admit it.
‘I like you, okay? And your dumbass keeps calling me words and pushing me away’
He yelled out, sweat rolling down his body from his nerves.
‘I can’t understand you. But I can’t go a day without thinking about everything you say. I’m probably demented but I just don’t know what to do’
Tears. Tears in his eyes. He was crying from his emotional outburst. A long silence persisted as she gathered her words, this time in a quieter tone.
‘I…was upset by the way you treat people like they’re below you. I wanted to make you snap out of it.’
‘I was more upset by you being like that…because I like you too. It was shitty of us to treat each other like that, huh?’
She smirked, the atmosphere more light hearted now. They truly were two idiots with huge egos.
‘…I don’t mind you being mean to me’
He grumbled, looking elsewhere.
Neither of them were sure how it happened, but at some point, their lips crashed against each other’s in a sloppy, inexperienced kiss full of emotion. She held the nape of his neck, pulling him closer as he gripped her kiss with a force only a guy like him would have.
That week, the agency sure had a lot to talk about.
