La magie existe depuis toujours. Invisible, discrète, tissée dans la terre elle-même — des fils anciens reliant le monde à un voile d'énergie que peu savent encore percevoir. Mais au fil des siècles, les hommes ont trop puisé. Comme toutes les choses de la nature, ils ont l'habitude de tout gâcher... Et dans les années 1700, quand la magie a commencé à s'effacer, silencieusement, huit familles firent un choix.

Elles ont trouvé un lieu — ancien et profondément ancré dans la terre; un endroit où quelque chose persistait encore. Un vestige druidique, peut-être.

Elles y ont fondé Cnòmhaven: une ville à part. Comme un refuge, un dernier endroit où laisser la magie survivre. Et à la fin du XIXe siècle, quand les hommes voulurent l'étudier, au risque de l'achever, un accord fut conclu : Cnòmhaven et sa magie seraient laissés en paix.

Depuis, la magie existe — mais seulement ici. Et cela n'étonne plus personne.
