✨The importance of nutrition✨
During the summer I was conducting some research on nutrition, which is a subject I’ve always been interested in, the results I found truly opened my eyes and I’d like to share them with you
Not eating nutritionally dense foods is the same to your body as quite literally starving, and research has shown symptoms of starvation in people who eat highly processed foods.
Ultra processed foods has been associated with childhood ADHD, and people who eat ultra processed food report feeling sad, nervous and irritable.
There are many different types of processed foods, not all of them bad. Stuff that is canned or frozen isn’t necessarily bad for you.
Poor nutrition is associated with mental health issues, low IQ, reduced cognitive function, Leaky gut syndrome which has impacts on nutritional utilisation and means that microbiomes that are only meant for the gut get into the brain!
Studies have shown that eating a diet high in whole foods has a much more significant impact on reducing depression than talk therapy! People who eat ‘properly’ are often calmer and have an improved quality of life.
It is better to get your nutrition from food rather than over the counter medication as the amounts sold over the counter are not high enough to replace the nutrients needed from food, also because one nutrient in isolation will not have a significant benefit.
Increasing nutrient intake will slow down aging and help to prevent dementia.
Stress increases your need for nutrition, so does chronic illness. Many people for various different reasons need higher levels of nutrition than usual.
Only 12% of the population meets the recommended fruit intake.
