Hey, this is for all my ambitious girlies out there. After fixing up a few of my friends CVs, I wanted to share some basic tips with you!
I hope you enjoy!
🌸 Make sure you do not put a photo, nationality information or make your sex or other protected characteristics obvious.
🌸DO NOT include your address, if necessary write down your city, but never your address or postcode.
🌸 Make sure it's neat, organised, uncluttered and asthetically pleasing from afar! If it looks messy or difficult to read, people won't read it. Remember, this is your chance to convince people how amazing you are!
🌸 If you have more education put that first, if you have more experience, put that first.
🌸 Put EVERYTHING on there. (Whilst making it relevant to the job you want.) If you farted slightly loudly on a Tuesday morning ‘excellent at commanding attention’.
🌸 Be flexible with the Titles of your previous roles, a recruiter will be scanning for specific words. If you are front of house staff, but you know how to make coffee, then you're a waitress/ barista.
🌸 you don't need to put things like ‘made fries’ or ‘took orders’ but rather, ‘Was responsible for food prep and meeting customer requirements leading to a 95% satisfaction rate’. Cashing up? ‘Used numerical skills to assist in creating data on revenue’.
🌸 Have a hobbies section, this won’t show your job suitability but it will give you something to talk about with the recruiter.
🌸NO references! Do not put your references on your CV, do not say available on request either! If they need them they will ask.
🌸 If it’s not obvious from your CV what position you’re looking for then include a personal statement outlining your skills and experiences and which field you're hoping to go into.
🌸 In the education section ONLY put your grades, and (if necessary) additional modules, do NOT describe what you studied. If it is very necessary then you can elaborate on it in your Cover Letter. If you have extra curriculars, dependent on what they are either put them in hobbies and interests OR work experience.
🌸 DO NOT put your availability!!! Under NO circumstances! Even at the interview stage just say I am available whenever.
🌸Tailor your CV to emphasise the skills needed for the position you're applying to.
🌸 Should be NO more than one and a half pages long.
🌸ALWAYS apply with a tailored, professional and neat cover letter highlighting why you want the role and how your previous experiences make you ideal for it.
I don't know why love this quote so much🌸
Find your own definition for success instead of blindly following someone else's definition.
Everyone faces hardships and it goes by don’t blame yourself, talk to yourself, you will do better next time. Failure is the mother of success, you are the best who you can be, don’t be sad.
