Soo, Au where Virgil pulls a Hiccup(from HTTYD) and grows up training and befriending dragons as his own family, in a world where dragons are at first seen as a threat and your considered crazy for thinking they could ever be anything but monsters. Many people lay out traps for smaller Dragons in attempts to catch dragons that live near the kingdom’s villages as safety procaution, planning on killing the dragons to be sure they wont cause any trouble. Except theres a wild stranger(Virgil), an apparent traitor among their kind who’s sided with the evil beasts, and they go about freeing all the dragons from every trap that can be found, leaving every dragon as unharmed as possible. They say he rides amongst the dragons, dropping down with wings of his own(much like hiccup has made for himself in the movies) to swoop down and set the dragons free and be gone before anyone knows whats happened, because his dragon of the sky(Patton) keeps any opposing humans away from the trap while the human does his work. No one gets harmed, but the villiages are getting exceedingly frustrated with this stranger, deemed “the Dragon Witch” who hides their face and moves like lightning, flying off with they’re newly freed companion into the far reaches of the giant unknown dragon forest where no one dares tread. And so, eventually, Prince Roman of the kingdom is forced to go confront the dragon witch, and make demands directly.

Except thats fairly hard when you find you’ve been confronting not only a human, but a family of dragons that now surround you, staring you down in warning that any harm that comes to the smaller human with be returned tenfold, but its jarring enough to see that they listen to him, to Virgil. The dragons, they wait, they listen, they understand. They arent hell-beasts intent on mindless distruction, as Roman has been taught so fiercely to believe, they are instead intelligent, bond-forming beings, capable of thought and personality and choice. And how protective Virgil is of his family, how adamant he is to try and get Roman to understand that there is so much more to dragon kind! To see the nervous fidgeting align with confidence that the dragons are so much better then they are made out to be catches Roman’s attention, and it makes him listen.

Roman learns just how wrong he was about dragons, how wrong everyone was, especially when met face to face with a dragon who’s scales were the deepest shade of midnight blue, covering a large, lithe body at least twice the size of Virgil’s companion dragon, and piercing eyes holding the intelligence that could rival any royal scholar Roman had ever known staring right into his very being, judging him and his loyalty. Its at that point, that Roman knows it’s up to him to change his kingdom’s mind, however, doing so will not be easy..

Patton:

Works the ticket counter

Has a “leave a ticket/take a ticket” bowl for those with an extra ticket or those who’re a ticket short

Has a penalty for swearing, if you’re caught you forfit 5 tickets to the “take a ticket/leave a ticket” bowl

Tells innuendo puns when the other employees are near

Acts innocent and confused when they look at him him or laugh

Puts baked goods in the brake room

Has the highest score in Dance Dance Revolution, and the name he put in is “DAD”

No one realizes it’s him

Virgil

Main technician

Runs Laser tag. A new game starts ever other hour, and the games last a half hour

When a kid drops a token, he “hides” them between machines for others to find

Seems surprisingly good at racing games

Let Roman win once

He regrets it

Has the highest score on Drift Racer IX, but was too scared to put his real initials in the slot

He put ANX

Almost quit

Roman:

Security guard during the day

Calls himself a “mascot” to not frieghten younger kids

His uniform is white

Every customer calls him Princey because of Virgil

Sometimes has to get teens off the top of the machines because they thought it would be funny to climb them

Stopped once he realized why Virgil was about to quit

Will mooch off other teens for tokens during his break

“Don’t know if you know this, but I have the highest score on this game. Wanna see if can beat me?”

Almost no one declines

Has pissed off more than a few mothers

Kids love him

Has had to send Roman to fetch teens out of the supply closet more than a few times

Once Ro was sick, so they switched places

He hated that day

Traditions:

The arcade is closed on the last Monday of every month for “staff development day”

They play laser tag in teams

At first, Virgil would only watch

Then he was volentold to play by Patton

He knew the place inside and out

Now Roman wants Virge on his team all the time

They’re allowed to alter their uniforms slightly

Imagine the absolute chaos of that laser tag though. Because you can’t tell me they wouldn’t get REALLY into it. Roman’s all for roleplay and Virgil doesn’t mind because it’s more fun watching him “die” when he acts like he’s actually been shot instead of just tagged. Also any team with Logan on it is in for a wild ride because he goes HOG WILD and he’s all business and a quickshot with deadly precision. Roman asked him once why he is so good. He responded with: “You are foolish to think this advanced tactical precision shooting was developed merely for this game”. Roman did not sleep well that night. Remy once asked Patton why they can’t buy up the space next door and add in a paintball section. Patton told him Logan would become a complete monster if they did.

Thomas:

honestly does not know how the little arcade he grew up dreaming  of starting ever ACTUALLY got off the ground, but he sure as heck isn’t complaining

he gives most of the credit to logan for this one, but, as logan frequently shoots back. he’s actually the one who had the vision from the beginning and knew exactly what direction he wanted the arcade to go in from the start. logan just… facilitated the execution

used to work himself into the ground to keep the place running before logan snapped one day and forced him to hire more employees

used to have the radio playing in the background all the time until virgil went up to him one day and asked why. thomas replied that it was because that’s what he figured the customers enjoyed and virgil shrugged. “it’s your place,” he said. “why not play stuff YOU enjoy?”

ever since then “the mind’s palace” has proudly blasted disney, musicals, and whatever other random assortment of songs thomas has on his playlist that day

was the one to suggest that remy work there if he ever needed a job

knows many of their frequent customers personally, and will go up to them and say hi (as well as talk to them if he notices they’re ever feeling down in the dumps)

trained a lot of the employees himself

has a STRICT no bullying policy, but believes in second chances. he was super firm on this one when training people (especially roman)

will jump around excitedly whenever one of his employees has a good idea. was giddy for a good hour at least when patton suggested the “take a ticket, leave a ticket” system. logan almost didn’t have the heart to tell him how much of an idiot he looked like.

In his freshman year of high school

Childish but smart

And that’s both classroom and people smart

Being the “target demographic” for the arcade, Thomas and Logan often consult his opinion when it comes to changes in the arcade

One time, Logan noticed a dive in people coming to the arcade

Emile overhears Logan telling Thomas about it, and provides the explanation

He explains that the dip was likely due to home consoles. Why would kids go out and pay to play games when they could do it at home for free?

Logan inquired if Emile had a solution, which he did: Virtual Reality

VR sets are usually pretty expensive, so lots of kids who want them can’t get them. Emile suggested that Logan and Thomas instal some VR games, to draw in those kids.

They do so, and the number of people attending the arcade skyrockets again.

Ever since, Emile’s pretty much been regarded as staff

He’s even allowed to take part in Staff Development Days

He’s not the best at Laser Tag, but enjoys it anyway

When he’s not at school or helping Thomas and Logan make decisions, he’s hanging around the arcade, playing games and acting as Patton’s little elf

You swear in front of Emile, prepare to be dragged to the ticket counter

However, Emile can be a bit mischievous as well

One day, he switched Thomas’ playlist for the Steven Universe soundtrack

He, Patton, Roman and Thomas would not stop singing ALL. HECKING. DAY.

Logan and Virgil spent most of that day in the back with Deceit

Little does he and the others know Emile and Thomas are ring leaders of a betting pool of who’s gonna end up dating who?

(Come on, with this many disaster gays in one place, how could there not be tension between any of them?)

When Emile let’s it slip that he wants to be a therapist, Logan’s just like “Hello, I am your psychology tutor now. You can’t turn this down, not many people get the opportunity to be tutored by me, feel lucky.”

Emile’s not complaining. Logan is a really good teacher

(plus it means Logan comes to his house regularly, which means he can start match making Logan and Patton, BECAUSE 500 TICKETS ARE ALL HIS IF EMILE CAN GET EM ON A DATE)
