Know what Iâve seen lately? General (non-stan, non-ship) fans being shy about admitting theyâve read sensible Jonsa metas. Theyâll âwarnâ their audience before they admit they got info from a Jonsa meta. I think theyâre afraid of being attacked for agreeing with anything that could point to Jonsa.
This is what antisâ constant complaining has led to. Itâs free advertising when they complain, because not everyone who reads their posts is also an anti.
The first time I heard of Jonsa, I was on Reddit, and in so many words, they said it was the worst possible ship with the worst shippers who were ruining the show, the books, and slandering D@ny with unfounded reasons. Iâd never even encountered someone who shipped Jon/Sansa. It was B0atbaby preachers who advertised it to me, in such a âso bad it might be goodâ kind of way that I couldnât help but seek it out from morbid curiosity. đ€Ł
May this be a lesson to us all about the dangers of morbid curiosity! đ
Thatâs so funny that all their outrage has introduced people to Jonsa! I stick to Sansa fans and Jonsas because the rest of the fandom kinda horrifies me, so I really didnât know what goes on beyond our circle. I understand why the average fan would be afraid to admit to reading Jonsa metas. The fandom is incredibly hateful of anything remotely Jonsa affiliated. While Iâm sympathetic to that anxiety, I do have issues with the BNFs who apparently have entertained the idea or even think it will happen but never spoke up before. Catering to the hate is how we got to such a toxic place in the fandom and one of them just saying âactually, this meta has meritâ could have changed everything. I will never forget this one GoT YouTuber who tweeted that we should be stoned in the streets. Thatâs how normalized hating on Jonsas was. She didnât even feel the need to send a nasty anon. She just tweeted it out, knowing the climate of the fandom would permit it.
So itâs amusing but also tiring to know that fans will enjoy content by Jonsas, they might even believe Jonsa theories, but theyâre too afraid to offer support to the people who work so hard to put it out there. Because of that, thereâs not only targeted harassment but widespread derision of anything now perceived as a Jonsa theory. Even other Sansa fans call us deranged for thinking Sansa will go North and that she will be queen although these are longstanding theories with a lot to justify themâthey donât necessarily have anything to do with shipping!
But this fandom is a truly weird place and will never make sense. No one thinks twice about supporting people who genuinely want Sansa to end up with a grown man (whether itâs the man who married her to take her birthright or the one who wanted to rape her), but heaven forbid you interact with anything written by a Jonsa.
Iâm glad you chanced it and have enjoyed the metas written by Jonsas though, anon. So many intelligent and hilarious people in this fandom. đ
"Jon still remembered pain of Sansa's and Lady Stark words. They have cut deeper than sword or fear. Or cold for that matter. Jon himself tighter with cloak, feeling how tears came to his eyes, unwanted. They didn't mean it, he told himself again, it wasn't what they thought. But deep down he knew the truth. They both wished he was never born. First Lady Stark, who later passed that poison to her beloved daughter." AFFC, Jon. But Of CoUrSe ThErE ArE no EViDenCe fOr abUsE.
Oh and in the case of Jonsa: "Let Imp have her, he thought bitterly, maybe then she'll finnaly look past appearence" SO MUCH FORESHADOWING OH GOD
You did it anon! You found the secret Jon chapter in AFFC that holds all the evidence that we Jonsas deny as we are wont to - since we have hearts as black as midnight. Congrats!
Donât worry about answering this if you donât feel like it, but I was wondering, what do you think the chances are for Jonsa happening? Unlikely? Very likely? I know everyone else in the fandom thinks itâs a crack ship but I remain convinced itâs happening. Of course, I was convinced it was happening in the show too, so đ
Extremely likely and there several reasons why it will happen. For one, George always likes to work in three, and he will likely to do that too with the Incest motif in ASOIAF:
Targaryens - Lannisters - ?
From a narrative perspective another major house engaging in incest is extremely likely, and who better fits that description than the Heroes of ASOIAF themselves: The Starks.
Which brings me to another point. Six of the seven Great Houses have engaged in some form of (pseudo) incest. The Targaryens are obvious. Same goes for the Lannisters. The Tullys have pseudo incest in Lysa - Littlefinger - Catelyn. Despite being raised alongside them, Littlefinger fell in love with Catelyn, whereas she saw him as a brother, and Lysa fell in love with Littlefinger, and he likely only saw Lysa as his sister. The Martells have Quentyn falling in love with his foster sister (Yornwood Lady. Forgot her name, sorry). The Greyjoys have that very creepy first meeting between Theon and Asha. The Tyrells - this one is bit more tricky, because technically there is no incest, but Cersei does think that Margaery and Loras are fucking each other (a classic case of projection lol), and it's likely that such rumor might float around, so it's a preceived incest. The Arryn's don't have a tale like this because Robert is an only child, but I am not the least bit surprised that his dynamic with Sansa is supposed to invoke that. After all her "father" is his father now. They are sibling-like (and also mother-child like ew), and Robert develops feelings for Sansa. So that almost all of the Great Houses. As odd as this sounds the Starks almost look weird for not having their own little incest story. It's very likely that George did this deliberately, to warm up the audience for the Stark psuedo-incest.
He would father no sons who might someday contest with Catelyn's own grandchildren for Winterfell. (A Game of Thrones, Catelyn II).
There's great nuance to the situation of Ned/Jon/Catelyn, and I get every side, and yes that includes Ned's, even though I like to crtique him the most. However, despite doing the right thing, Ned created a political minefield by masquerading Jon as his bastard, and to put everything at ease and validate everyone in the situation, Catelyn's grandchildren and Jon's children should be one and the same. So a marriage between Jon Snow and a Stark maiden is necessary. That Stark maiden can only be Sansa for several reasons:
Sansa is the eldest daughter and because of succession rights she is the more likely one.
The iconic back to back Jon-Sansa-Jon chapters in ACOK, establishes very clearly that Sansa is the current generation's Blue Rose of Winterfell.
Sansa faces the main brunt of Northern Politics.
Whether people like it or not, the fixation on songs and stories in her arc, specifically the ones about courtly romance, and her own parallels to romantic heroines like Jonquil and Naerys makes Sansa the romantic heroine of ASOIAF. A romantic heroine can only end up with a romantic hero and that person is Jon.
The lack of sibling affection between Jon and Sansa makes them the more palatable pairing to the average reader.
So yes, despite what the show did, I am 100% convinced that a Jon-Sansa romance is very much on the table.
I honestly never get fascination that this fandom has with Hound, like i get it he has a sob story but guy is just so miserable and sucks so much, he killed Mycah and tried to rape Sansa, ahh hate him so much hope he dies in the Winds and be far away from the Sansa
The guy literally rode down a terrified peasant boy and hacked him to death with his sword. Later he used the "just following orders" excuse about it.
Not to engage in fandom discourse but why do the D and A fans love pretending that Sansa is the only privileged girl as if their faves weren't white and daughters of kings/lords too? lol it's the way people read Sansa being groomed and used because of her name and beauty but they only talk about how privileged and "awful" she is and also keep making assumptions about Sansa fans.
It's just lost on me how nobody ships A.rya x Hot Pie. đ€ He's her age, a nice kid, one of the smallfolk her stans make so much noise about, he could bake her all the đđ° they claim she loves! But most importantly, it's entitled and shallow to ship a young girl with anyone handsome of highborn. Someone give the chubby baker kings some love. đ€
@aryastarkthelittleshewolf11 here are your quotes. Had to tag your side blog instead of your main since you blocked me right after I offered to show you the quotes when you didnât like the explanations (which you said were just excuses).Â
âOnce in a while, Sansa even missed her sister. By now Arya was safe back in Winterfell, dancing and sewing, playing with Bran and baby Rickon, even riding through the winter town if she liked.â - Sansa II, ACOK
âShe sang for Mercy, for the living and the dead alike, for Bran and Rickon and Robb, for her sister Arya and her bastard brother Jon Snow, away off the wall.â - ACOK, Sansa V
âMerry Crane always had an amusing story, and little Lady Bulwer reminded of Arya, through not so fierce.â - Sansa II, ASOS
âIn Sansaâs dreams, her children looked just like the brothers she lost. Sometimes there was even a girl who looked Arya.â - Sansa II, ASOS
âShe had dreamt that she was little, still sharing with her sister Arya.â - Sansa VII, ASOS
âRobb had melting flakes in his hair when hugged me, and the snowball Arya tried to make kept coming apart in her hands.â - Sansa VII, ASOS
âShe remembered a summerâs snow in Winterfell when Arya and Bran had ambused her as she emerged from the keep one morning. They each had a dozen snowballs to hand, and sheâd had none. Bran had been perched on the roof of the covered bridge, out of reach, but Sansa had chased Arya through the stables and around the kithen until both of them were breathless. She might even have caught her, but sheâd slipped on some ice. Her sister came back to see if she was hurt. When she said she wasnât, Arya hit her in the face with another snowball, but Sansa grabbed her leg and pulled her down and was rubbing snow in her hair when Jory came along and pulled them apart, laughing.â - Sansa VII, ASOS
âFor just a little while, as she ran, she forget who she was, and where, and found herself remembering bright cold days at Winterfell, when she would race through Winterfell with her friend Jeyne Poole, with Arya running after them to keep up. - Alayne I, TWOW
One has to wonder why GRRM choose to write about how Daenerys heard that her people are desperate and living in squalor, and inmediately agreed to profit from their suffering, never pausing to think what she could do to improve their living conditions? Isnât she supposed to be a Savior and Liberator? What a strange writing choice:
âMy queen?â Daario stepped forward. âThe riverside is full of Meereenese, begging leave to be allowed to sell themselves to this Qartheen. They are thicker than the flies.â Â
Dany was shocked. âThey want to be slaves?â
âThe ones who come are well spoken and gently born, sweet queen. Such slaves are prized. In the Free Cities they will be tutors, scribes, bed slaves, even healers and priests. They will sleep in soft beds, eat rich foods, and dwell in manses. Here they have lost all, and live in fear and squalor.â
âI see.â Perhaps it was not so shocking, if these tales of Astapor were true. Dany thought a moment. âAny man who wishes to sell himself into slavery may do so. Or woman.â She raised a hand. âBut they may not sell their children, nor a man his wife.â
âIn Astapor the city took a tenth part of the price, each time a slave changed hands,â Missandei told her.  Â
âWeâll do the same,â Dany decided. Wars were won with gold as much as swords. (ASOS Daenerys VI)
J0nrya has the stupidest fanbase. Srsly afte the writer has debunked the ship himself?? He just rejected their whole Ygritte/Arya nonsense by essentially saying that romance was not what he intended. Why do we even give attention to these people bruh? đđ Most imporatntly, if it were still to happen, we wouldn't have known about it in a discarded outline where actual spoilers were blacked out!!!???
Great point on the blacking out of actual spoilers.
If it makes you feel any better, hardly anyone gives them attention. They're a very loud minority living in the dark corners of the fandom.
I was really impressed by your Blackfyre metas and also the content that you put sometimes out on animals, religion etc but then was really disappointed to find out that you are a Jonsa shipper. Talk about a smart dumb person. Please get help.
I tried to get help, but the helper ended up being a Jonsa themselves! Apparently when the show gives two characters a tender reunion in the snow, makes one the reason for the other âcoming back to lifeâ, one gives the other a cloak with the symbol of their house (aka marriage cloak), parallel several successful couples including the OG happy show couple NedCat, they have tense candlelit arguments in a tent, debate who is going to sleep in the lords chamber, validate each otherâs ruling styles, raise armies to protect the other, seem genuinely upset over the idea of the other having a love interest and are instantly hostile, being partly (I mean mostly, because Arya never had scenes with DĂŠny at all but the show decided to make Sansa suspicious of her forâŠreasons) the reason why one had to kill someone, and despite resentment one character still wanted the other to rule with them; and then despite not interacting in the books, they are shown to be the answer to each otherâs dreams for family, they have parallel arcs, they would give RLJ and Catelynâs fears for Jon in Winterfell a satisfying yet unorthodox twistâŠwell, you end up with more than a few people thinking theyâd be an interesting couple.
Youâre lucky I mostly limit my fandom posts to ASOIAF, because elsewhere I hold even worse opinions than thinking two characters have chemistry and thematic parallels.
I just read grrm's latest not a blog update and he says he is thinking of calling Fire and Blood vol 2 as simply Blood and Fire. Whew! I hope it puts rest to 'but her cloak was stained by blood and fire, not fire and blood' bs i once read with my own eyes
Really?
Well, I shouldn't be surprised, I once read some old jonerices & canine cultists saying that if the stained cloak is a Targ reference, then we all should start shipping aunty and Sansa............
# every time Dany was faced with a choice she turned the violence up to 11 and broke the knob off #there is a difference between âforeshadowingâ and âconsistent character traitsâ. #the foreshadowing was that she was was going to burn Kingâs Landing #the consistent character trait is that to Dany violence is the easier option and she loves to chose it over and over again #and as she does she gets crueler and more extreme.
âYouâre going to go through life thinking that women donât like you because youâre a dwarf. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that wonât be true. Itâll be because youâre an asshole. (And a Lannister.)â
â
Sansa Stark to Tyrion Lannister at some point probably (via clara-the-slytherin-graduate)
This is the greatest thing in the history of the asoiaf fandom.Â
âYouâre going to go through life thinking that women donât like you because your face got burned. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that wonât be true. Itâll be because youâre an asshole.â
