Flowers in the paradise
The Paradise Projects have been such a fun creative outlet for me. I’ve always loved the excitement and process of the unknown that comes with film. Sometimes things work out better than you could have imagined—or maybe just differently, which is also exciting.
When I started the website (theparadiseprojects.com), I really wanted to learn more about motion pictures. I’ve shot Super 8 for a long time, but finally bought a 16mm camera. Talk about fun—and frustrating! I was thrilled with getting the film back from our trip to Mexico and seeing it come to fruition in the latest “Project Wide” short, introducing the Channel Island Rocket Wide.
There’s one scene in particular that Dane and I shot as an ode to Gavin Beschen, from the Mexico section in Stoney Baloney. Its fun celebrating the movies that influenced me so much with these projects, and I hope its just the beginning! Here’s a few 16mm frame grabs and I hope you can check out the video. Enjoy!
