Do you guys think SabĆØ listens to āGood Luck, Babe!ā By Chappell Roan and thinks of PadmĆØ
kind of actually soooo fucking funny that my man jung was like āIām toast anyway they know what Iām up toā and then the ISB was like āwe lost a great man and dedra meero is a rebel spyā
āMon is not fully committed to the Cause yet, she hasn't given up her life and enjoys her status quoāā Mon Mothma is doing money laundry to fund terrorist activity/organization. Do people understand that? I think it's important people understand that.
from the perspectives of Imperial auditors and financial regulators thatās literally what sheāll be charged with if sheās caught. Slush fund accounts and blaming Perrin's gambling and strategic child marriages only cover her tracks until the right financial regulator goes looking; until one civil servant with the same amount of Freak as Syril Karn decides to go after discrepancies and she no longer can paper over the cracks. She's being observed by her own driver. She's got enemies everywhere, yearly financial audits, and multiple obligations to powerful people. She's borrowing time with a highest interest rate known to man and she will have to pay that debt with everything she holds dear.
Mon has long been radicalised; she's put everything on the line as down payment for it. She just puts up a front so well itās apparently tricked the audience.
Moreover, the political thesis of the show is that resistance is everywhere; itās an old lady clearing the underground rain tunnels for potential rebels as well as it is manifestos and prison breaks and overt attacks on Imperial buildings.
Itās also one person in the heart of the imperial core committing stunning amounts of financial crime.
was almost worried fascist fanboy was about to get a redemption arc but no he found out his fascist girlfriend lied to him which meant the last 2 years of his work meant nothing, choked her out bc he's an incel, thought he was about to get a personal victory against cassian only to find out that his archnemesis has absolutely no fucking clue who he is bc he's irrelevant, and then gets headshotted by the billionaire tailor who he's been conning this whole time. FANTASTIC 10/10 NO NOTES.
cassianās āwho are you?ā to syril is not a thanos āi donāt even know who you areā moment. it is not āfor me, it was tuesdayā or āthe axe forgets but the tree remembersā. because cassian didnāt ruin syrilās life. syril upended CASSIANāS life, and ruined his own in the process. syril stumbled on on the case of two dead beat cops that the empire could not care less about and told him so to his face, but he was so desperate to prove himself as a useful cog in the empireās machine that he went against his superiors to make a big show out of apprehending someone who was only trying to get back to his normal life. and it goes horribly. syril fucked up, and heās fired, and he canāt make himself blame the empire so he becomes fixated on andor, his enemy, this big bad master criminal who escaped justice and ruined his life. itās an obsession. and years later, in the midst of his disillusionment and regret watching the violence on ghorman he helped bring about, he sees him. cassian andor. and all this rage and resentment thatās been boiling under his skin for years overtakes any thought of the innocents dying and he throws himself into fighting cassian with a brutality that is obviously personal. and he almost wins, he has the gun pointed at him, when cassian looks at him with genuine confusion and asks āwho are you?ā and syril breaks. because heās spent so long convincing himself that andor is out to get him, and now he sees that this was just as futile as everything else he dedicated himself to. because andor did nothing to him. and he has to die with that realization.
cassian had far more reason to hate syril than the other way around, but syril was completely unimportant to him because he chose the rebellion and love over resentment and the empire
cassian watering his plants before leaving to begin his final mission ahaha iām totally fine š
I love Andor for giving their antagonists shitty endings. We follow Dedra and Syril for such a long time that there are moments where we kind of root for them or feel bad for them, even though we know they're terrible people. Andor creates situations to put ourselves in their shoes AND it treats these characters as they should be treated- as villains. There is no "she was just misunderstood" or "there was good in him." These bastards are straight up, unrelentlessly evil, and their endings reflect that. Syril's death is overshadowed by the cleansing of the ghors. He's filthy and at a low point and fighting a man who he's convinced is the enemy, even though the man has no idea who the fuck Syril even is. Dedra, who's whole character revolves around her ambition with her career, ends up being arrested for overreaching on her job. She ends up in a max security prison, not for the crimes she's genuinely committed, but because she disrespected the chain of command at work.
These are genuinely some fucked up endings for these two characters and I love it so much. These bitches got exactly what they deserved, I've never seen karma and justice work so swiftly.
they introduce cassian andor and itās like this man has a missing sister, a dead planet, and the biggest saddest brown eyes youāve ever seen. heās killed two guys sort of by accident but this is also kinda par the course for him. everyone in his town kinda loves him and kinda wants to shake him down for coins. he treats his droid like a person. heās a mommas boy and a terrible boyfriend. some guy halfway across the galaxy is dying to meet him. and itās like cool that is my best friend i would protect him with my life hope nothing terrible happens to him in the ensuing months of his life.
