It makes me sad thinking about how much Chloe was abandoned considering no one choose to leave because they didn’t care about her.

First William dies, and Chloe is left alone with a Mother who would pick a man over her child’s emotional wellbeing. This isn’t her Father’s fault as he didn’t know he would leave her that day, or what Joyce would do when he was gone. In his his head he was just going to pick up his wife and then return to the girls for some chocolate cake.

Then Max leaves. Considering her age she couldn’t control the move, and she was forced to leave Arcadia when Chloe needed her there the most. After this Max stops communicating with Chloe, but the game practically outright states that this is because of William’s death and Max not knowing what to say afterward. Her anxiety is why their friendship fell through, not because she didn’t care about Chloe.

Finally, Rachel goes missing. Again this isn’t her fault at all, and the sick things Jefferson did to her were out of her control. She didn’t just run off to LA and leave Chloe behind. In fact it’s pretty clear they cared about each other up until Rachel died when you look around their junkyard hideout.

Everyone important to Chloe left her, and none of it happened because of her actions. Just a butterfly effect that was out of her control.
