I'm still trying to figure this all out, please don't judge harshly. All of this is in progress ^-^
I'm currently in deadline hell, too much work to get done before December, but I still plan to post a new part in a week or two. I wanted to give you all a heads-up and let you know I'm still here and haven't forgotten about writing.
Warnings: Improvisation, my headcanons, mention of past trauma, hurt/comfort, fluff in the end. Also, Helloween isn't a common thing in my country, so I mostly know about it from the media. all pictures in collage are from pinterest.
Oh, autumn! Although this season has many admirable qualities, it is a busy time for most Batfamily members. But amidst this busy time, there's a fun night â Halloween night.
Do they celebrate it? Not exactly⊠But do they still have time? Yes! Well, some of them do. It is true that patrols became harder during this time â and on Halloween night, especially Halloween night. Some blame goes for Gothamites â some of them have such a strange taste in costumes, to put it lightly⊠I mean, why dress up as someone who tried to destroy your city? This situation became really absurd: It is a source of headache for Bruce, and like his father, Damian is also displeased with the situation, Dick jokes about the worst variations of Halloween, Gotham`s criminals costumes, Jay finds joy in this: he is a fan of old good trolling, Tim made a game of âfind a real oneâ of it and is happy with it. Other Gothamites put on variations of their favorite hero costumes â and that`s why streets are filled with bats⊠and quite a huge number of Gothamites wear something classical: vampires, witches, mummies, ghosts, zombies.
But this particular Halloween gave Bruse another reason to worry - you.
Not that you are a problem! No no no! Never! You are one his children, his precious baby. That`s why he worries about you âŠ
What if Halloween is triggering for you?
Knowing who your father was, he knew that he had to prepare for the worst. He knew that any happy thing could become a weapon in Joker`s hands that`s why the list of triggers could be endlessly long. But one thing was sure - he will not put you in danger.
Bruce believed you should experience the cheerfulness of Halloween, and so does everyone else. And that's how operation âhappy first Halloween for âreaderâ â begun!
You experienced a bad Halloween before: not surprising, considering who Joker was. You still remember the chemical scent of the Scarecrow`s gas he modified, which gave you hallucinations you wanted to forget. He would make you and goons wear monstrous costumes â variations of usually normal ones that were twisted into something so horrific you felt like shaking only at the thought. He would show you how he poisoned sweets, maniacally laughing while doing so, and made you âtasteâ them after. And your usual daily life before was spent in such locations and situations, it would best horror movie decorators cry.
But now, here with your family, you felt safe, and as time went close to the Halloween, you wanted to see what Halloween was supposed to look like.
The morning of this scary day began. Like usual, you got up and got ready for the day, and while you were at it, Bruce came into your room with a visit â more cautious than usual. You could see that he didn't exactly get a full night's sleep, which was nothing new, but he spent last night not only patrolling, but also making sure nothing around was too scary, even if you would have no chance to stumble on that â yeah, he has paranoia â sue him! You are far too important, so he has a right to worry. But getting ready with him was comfy anyway.
For breakfast Alfred made a few of his special pumpkin dishes and decorated food with elegant web patterns, fancy witch hats and cute ghosts. And, of course, he made sure you ate properly and enjoyed the food. He caught you looking at the cookies and made sure to teach you how to decorate them with frosting in the future.
As you and your family ate, you couldn't help but pay attention to how Dick was hinting at some certain family activities list for today, which you didn't even know until he started talking. And since Dick seemed really happy with what he talked about, you got a feeling that it would be fun. Or maybe it was just the effects of his charming, sly grin? You weren't sure.
And like a true mastermind of family activities, Dick brought you into his plans, or, to be more correct, you and Damian. So, now you and Damian were tasked with cutting little ghosts out of paper and drawing details on them. At the beginning, Damian grumbled, seeing all of this as useless activity and useless holiday, but seeing you so calm and concentrated on the paper ghosts warmed his heart. If that made you happy, it was worth it, and if he were to be honest, competing with you on who would make the most ridiculously dressed ghost was fun. So fun, you both went so far that turned two paper ghosts in costume for Chlory, of which both of you were proud.
A bit after that, Jason came in and âborrowed you for an hourâ from Damian, who wasn`t exactly pleased with that. Jason decided to go for a walk with you, and as you two walked, the topic of âhaunted housesâ came up, and after he explained what it was, you both agreed that the whole Gotham, and especially slums, were sort of haunted. But what got you curious is that he said that haunted houses are supposed to be fun. So he decided to take you to see one: you came to the âshackâ in the nearest park, its attendant sat both of you down on the small cart, and your spooky adventures began. As you both rode through rooms that were haunted in different ways â dark room with ghosts lighting up in corners, creepy pink room filled with dolls that seemed to watch your every move â you clung to Jason's arm, and he, to make you feel better of course, told you jokes about each skeleton and monster on your way.
Still curious after your adventure with Jason, you decided to look up more information about different spooky attractions, and to do so, you went to Tim's room. Tim, who was finishing up something for investigation, kept an eye on you while you browsed the internet, and he noticed when you tensed after seeing something. Quickly saving his work, he went to you and heard creepy laughter coming from the laptop you took. Turns out, you stumbled on the video of a creepy jack-in-the-box toy. Tim knew it reminded you of Joker, he gently took the laptop from you, closing the tab, sat near you and put his hand on your shoulder. He reminded you that you were home now and you wouldn't hear that creepy laugh anymore. He told you that laughter was supposed to be happy and now that you are with them, everyone will make sure you will only hear cheerful laughter.
Soon, Dick, already wearing dog ears that were similar to his dog Harley's, went into the room saying that it was almost time for âtreat huntingâ and that everyone must wear a costume. You saw Tim sighing and taking out a coat with Weathered Stewart Hunting Weathered Tartan and similar hat. You too went to your room and found a hoodie with bat wings, and, settling on it, you put it on.
After you came out of your room, you saw that all manor was already decorated: yarn spiderwebs were all around with spiders made of fuzzy wires and wiggle eyes on them, paper ghosts that you and Damian drew were hanging from the ceiling, plastic pumpkins were placed everywhere. In the living room you met with everyone â Dick, who was grinning happily, his hairband on which dog ears were holding on slide to the side, Alfred, who put on a mask covering half of his face like the mask of Ghost of Opera, Bruce, who was dressed as Dracula, Jason, who put on a shirt which went through a lot and called himself a zombie, Tim, who turned out to dress as Sherlock Holmes, and Damian, who dressed as ninja.
Dick explained that he, Bruce and Alfred hid sweets that the old butler made all around the manor, and you all needed to find them. Damian kept to your side as you both went to find treats, Jason was joking that Tim, as âthe second greatest detectiveâ, should have already figured out where all the sweets were. Bruce and Dick soon joined in on the fun, hinting at the hiding places, making jokes, and just being happy.
Happy Halloween to you, my dear reader! đ§Ą

Authors notes : Im back with new part i promised ( âąÌ Ï âąÌ )⧠I hope you enjoy it.
Attention, you were starving for it.
And not that kind of âbad attentionâ you had misfortune to know in your life before, that kind that lead to scrapes, broken bones or other unfortunate consequences of your biological father`s plans and experiments. No, you wanted something entirely else. Â
You didn't ask for genuine affection that comes with love, or kind words that lift spirits, you wanted to be noticed in a way that will make you feel a bit warmer inside.Â
You wanted that âgood kindâ of affection, just a flicker of it.
Ever since you were brought into the mansion, ever since you were given a glimpse of hope and were introduced to the concept of attention, the good kind of it, the same that family gives each other. Ever science than you wanted to get it. This need for attention became a constant thirst you could satisfy, because how can one stop thirst without water⊠but the well was locked for you by each and every member of this family.
You weren`t welcome, they made it obvious.Â
Why show you that kind of attention at all if you weren't allowed to have it? Why bother to take you in, if they made it obvious you didn't belong? Why give you a chance to see a light of hope if you weren't allowed to bask in it? So many questions, and answers weren't for you to find out.
For years you've tried to find answers. For years attention was all you wanted. For years and this little wish of yours clung to your heart desperately. Who were you kidding? It wasn't a little wish⊠it was your only real one.Â
Yeah, thanks to being taken in by Batman himself you recovered physically⊠and you were grateful. Now you were healthier and stronger and could do so much more, truly it was a miracle for. But mentally.... oh boy... where to begin. It's been a very lonely couple of years. And your constant need for their attention only made the ache in your chest stronger and your mind more still and cloudy at the same time.Â
It was frustrating, really. You weren't asking for monetary gifts, although you figured a long long time ago that even if you did, it wouldn't be a strain on Wayne family, but it's irrelevant : even if you were given them, it would still be too cold, and not what you wanted. You weren't asking them to do something special for you : you even never asked Alfrd to do something for you or cook something for your taste. You weren't asking to be the favorite. goodness no! knowing how dysfunctional and broken the dynamics of this family, you knew better than to participate in this deliberately lost game. You just wanted to be a part of a family and not part of a collection of trophies from cases of many Gotham villains. And yet, you were only that, another evidence in the case of Joker, Another proof of how sick he was.
And if playing by the rules wasn't working, You had to create a new way to achieve so. A way that wasn't just relying on easy tactics as learning what they liked, or what they did, a way forged by observing this family from the shadows.
This family was obsessed with the criminal life of the city, so, let's say that on the Gotham criminal stage one more figure, who will play with the Batfamily?
But not a criminal really, just a little stealthy or even a ghostly trickster who didn't leave a trace as they messed with the nerves of each and every family member.
Someone who could make a little glitter bomb and sneakily hide the lining of Bruce's cape, so it would make a âboomâ in the middle of patrol decorating his cape with shining and pretty yellowish and orange sparkles, so he could see it wasn't Joker who did it and couldn't mistake their harmless prank with clown's freakish ideas. So Batman would have to go around shining like a Christmas tree and spreading pretty shiny sparkles around Gotham making the place more colorful. And when Bruce will inspect his cape after patrol, he won't find any clues thanks to biodegradable paper.Â
Someone who will add special sounds to Dickâs escrima sticks and grappling hook. And now Dick will be like a real hero from movies with his own sound effects. Every move he makes will be accompanied by them, making him a cute little bell, ringing funny sounds around Gotham and Bloodhaven. And when he will try to figure out what happened he will see a few speakers added to his tech. And considering how many places he can be, he can't be sure who did it.
Someone who will put cute stickers on Jason's prized possession - his motorcycle. Just imagine Jason's face when he will go to it in his full Red hood gear and his bike is covered in stickers with peach bows and hearts all round it. And well. He managed to get rid of them.only with Alfredâs help, what a strong glue is used in them, truly a miracle .
Someone who could sneakily sabotage Timâs photo shoots of evidence and crime science. And it will take him an embarrassingly long amount of time to figure out what exactly happened. At first he would think it was just bad luck, then that his hands were trembling too much from all the coffee he consumes. And after checking everything he could with help of his computer and genius brain he checked in between the lenses, noticing how one of them was covered in a bit of dust.. how strange.
Someone who can trick Damian into going to the Gotham museum for who knows what time and messing with his schedules just by creating an advertisement brochure about a new time limited warrior themed exhibition, and in the same time adding this info to the museums website so it looks truthful enough that he will go and search for, obviously getting frustrated and disappointed when he finds nothing like that. Yeah, it's bad to play with something so important to him, but in that case âŠ. Why not?Â
Someone who isn't really targeting Alfred but will change up a few things like mixing up the containers from teas or something as harmlessâŠ
And so happened that you had all that required to be that someone. Your observations of all of theirs and your biological father's deeds came in handy now, cause you've learned a lot from that. And studying them helped you to gain all other skills required, it wasn't that hard. And they also revealed a lot about themselves in the process about themselves, so.you know their pressure points.
So you started this game with them, if they don't want to âplayâ with you normally they will get this as easy as that. You'll use their rules against them. You weren't about to pass down the only chance you've got. And if no harm will be done, it's fine! Right?
This way you, though without revealing yourself, because who knows how they would react if they knew it was you, you will have a chance of seeing how they react to your doings, almost like a real interaction, right ? This way, they will finally notice you, give you attention at least like that.
And you'll do it again and again just to get their a flicker of their attention once moreÂ
I'm back, and not empty-handed! In a week, I'll post another part of the Joker's Kid! Reader series. I'll be continuing this series and writing a few other things as well.

Kate Bishop x sword user! reader: Sword and arrow should stick together
Authors note 1: Hi, hi! Soo this idea doesnât need much explanation, so I just hope it turned out well.... I'm feeling chatty, so I'll ramble a bit. You might be wondering why suddenly decided to write about Kate. What about Yelena, the Batfamily, or maybe something new from the DC, MCU or HSR? My answer is that, lately, itâs been way too sunny where I live, and I was thinking about a sunshine character and this idea popped into my head. I still love Yelena very much, and I will continue on the Batfamily and do more on Yelena and Thunderbolts soon.
Warnings: Â Maybe grammar mistakes, maybe a bit too much head cannons
Another restless night in the NYC.
Another patrol that Kate decided to take for the reasons ⊠that only she knewâŠ
Yes, New York had their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. She was aware of that. No need to point it out in her face so bluntly. BUT! BUT!! BUT!!! She was doing her duty as a Hawkeye apprentice, or the new Hawkeye â Â she's still figuring out her hero name, and Clint isn't much help with that. So, as a future Avenger, she does her best to protect the city and earn the title, so to speak. And, come on, nobody works alone â especially not the Avengers. Especially in New York, because this city seems to attract villains and criminals like a magnet. Protecting New York is a good a good start for the hero career, yeah, the Avengers focus on world level threats, but they started from smaller things.
So yeah. Her mission is protection of New York. So, she gotta stay vigilant. And, she stays vigilant, does patrol rounds, and so on.
A few thugs were stopped here, a bunch of criminals were stopped there and a few hours of practice in between, shooting practice, cardio included and so on. The nights are usually long. Sometimes they blur together because they are so similar. She sleeps in the morning, walks with Lucky, has her breakfast, works, takes quite a few coffee breaks in between of her work, walks with Lucky again, eats pizza with Lucky, goes on patrol at night, returns, and the day repeats itself. Sometimes she has calls Clint, and during those calls she bubbles about her day and experiences and he offers a few pieces of good advice or makes some sharp but friendly comments. Sometimes she visits her mum⊠And even though the days seem to blur together, she stays upbeat, hopeful and eager.
Despite everything, she is still wide-eyed idealist that believes in good.
Well, sometimes Kate thinks her days are boring, sure, but it`s fine by her. Of course, she wants to be heroic and do heroic deeds like a true Avenger, but she's sure that her time to shine will eventually come, and she'll step into the spotlight.
Although being in shadows has it perks too⊠Yeah⊠shadows, theyprovide hidden spots with a better view of the battlefield, helping her to ensure her shots are great and precise. But Clint is not the type to back down from a battle, so why should she? But sometimes she stops to think about one thing:
Is the shot worth taking?
Almost always, the answer is yes. One arrow can stop a criminal from killing, another can stop a robber, a third can help her escape from the chase and another can save someoneâs life.
But one thing sticks with her:
-Best shot you ever took?
-The one I didn't take.
She didn't take a few shots. Sometimes she couldn't physically do it, like when her bow was kicked out of her hands. There were a few occasions when she hesitated. There were also times when she didn't take them of her own accord, such as with Yelena.
But what was her best one?
Maybe this latest one was the one?
So, it was just a normal Friday evening for Kate. She slept soundly until around 7 am, when Lucky started licking her face and practically dragged her out of bed, eager to go outside for his morning walk. The park was fine â other cute dogs, other friendly people, and really good summer weather. Breakfast was great â almost no one can mess up scrambled eggs and toast, it`s fine basics, alight. And for her work, Kate had to do too much monitoring at work, for which she had to consume too much caffeine, but still did everything great. And, this time, surprisingly, the pizza delivery arrived on time, so she a Lucky had a good dinner. And finally, it was time for patrol.
The streets were relatively quiet and everything was getting boring until she overheard a few thugs talking about a meeting in one of the warehouses in a not-so-good neighborhoods.
Kate just had to investigate.
On her way, she was buzzing with excitement. This seemed like a big deal. Maybe not quite as big as the tracksuit mafia, but definitely bigger than just some thugs. It could be a career boost for her hero duties â who knows? Either way, it was a big deal, both for her and for the city. Time to get to work.
But first, she needs to get to the place... and here comes one disadvantage of being just a human â she can`t just fly up and get to the place â running and taking a subway train it is. And of course, it took much longer than she had hoped... By the time she arrived, all the criminals had been defeated.
But first, she needs to get to the place... and here's one disadvantage of being human: she can't just fly there⊠how unfortunateâŠ. so, she has to run and take the subway. Of course, this took much longer than she had hoped. By the time she arrived, she saw something she wasnât expecting to see.
Okay, she hadn't expected to see so many criminals all in one place, standing in a way that would make it too easy for her to shoot them.
However, the only thing she saw were criminals lying on the ground, defeated.
How on earth? What the hell happened here?
Kate quickly pushed away her initial shock and tried to look around. It didnât seem like the work of the friendly neighbor; it was too clean, and there was no evidence to suggest that he was the one who had stolen her moment.
Kate quickly pushed away her initial shock, trying to look around. It didnât seem like a work of the friendly neighbor: too clean, and there was no webbing to assume he was the one who stole her moment of heroic deed from her.
Then, the question is, who did it?
She looked around, carefully examining traces on the ground and markings on gang members clothes that would help to identify who was the one behind defeating the gang. She saw cuts that were definitely left by the blade.
She was sure Clint wasnât behind it, he was enjoying his time with his family at home and if he would have come to New York he would have said it when he called. And even more sure it wasn`t doing of Jack, not only he preferred repairs and was busy with LARPers this fine evening, but that rich man wouldnât randomly go vigilante.
She walked deeper into the warehouse, it was dark, as you expect every creepy place to be. As she walked further, holding her hands on her bow and arrow, looking around not to miss any movement that can indicate a danger. She saw only more criminalâs unconscious with cuts but not deep, non-fatal wounds. She heard a thud and sped up to see the reason of it, and she saw a figure, standing over a criminal with sword in hand. the sound of the bowstrings being drawn was too loud in the silent warehouse. The figure`s head turned to her. Kate aimed, prepared to shoot. The figure took a step closer to her, now visible to her eyes. Kate`s breath went still in her, her fingers stilled on the arrow. Â
She walked deeper into the warehouse, which was as dark as you would expect any creepy place to be. As Kate walked further in, she held her bow and arrow ready, looking around to spot any movement that could indicate danger. As she walked further in the warehouse, she only saw more criminals lying unconscious with cuts that were not deep or fatal. Suddenly, she heard a thud and sped up in her steps to investigate. She saw a figure standing over a criminal with a sword in hand. She got in her battle stand; the sound of the bowstring being drawn echoed loudly in the silent warehouse. The figure turned its head towards her. Kate aimed, prepared to shoot. The figure took a step closer, and was now visible. Kate's breath caught in her throat. Her fingers froze on the arrow.
She has never seen anyone like that⊠like you
-There is no need in aimless attack. Call the police, they will deal with criminals â your voice rang in the warehouse sooner than she could shoot, she moved her bow down.
Kate didnât take a shot.
Kate did as you told her and dialled the number, but before you could finish calling the police, she saw you walking away. Just like that â no hello, no goodbye, no introductions. The audacity! She quickly finished the call and ran after you.
-"Hey, wait up!" - she shouted, running to catch up with you. â âYou can't just do that!â
-âDo what?â you asked, turning to face her and looking at her questioningly.
-âWalk off without saying anything!â â Kate gestured back at the warehouse.
-âI did the right thing. Anything else doesn't matterâ â you said, putting the sword back in its scabbard.
She looked at you in slight shock. You defeated the entire criminal organization, and now you're acting like it doesn't matter, like it's self-evident, like it was normal to you. That raised so many questions for her. Who the hell were you? Were you a vigilante? Well, that seemed obvious. But what were your motives? Why were you operating in NYC? Why a sword? She had so many more questions, but she didnât want to be impolite, so she decided to put them to one side for now.
She knew that if she hesitated any longer, you would probably go away and leave her with all her questions unanswered, and she remembered Clint talking about how heroes build connections with each otherâŠÂ and this surely looked like a good networking opportunity! She has to know who else operates in New York, right? If she shares protection of the city with anyone, she should know those who protects it too, right
-âAbout that⊠do you wanna talk about it? Why don't we chat over a coffee?â â yeah, thatâs was really smooth, Kate. â âEhh, that's will be my treatâ â hastily added, trying not to mess things up further. She wanted you to agree. She needed info about you.
To her surprise, you agreed after shooting a cautious look.
It turns out that if you're treated right, you're actually much chattier than she instantly assumed.
Yeah, you didn't reveal much about yourself. You mostly used generic phrases such as 'long years of practice' and 'sword mastery' to describe your specialty, and she, honestly, she gets it! It's hard to trust strangers, but you gave her so much more than she had hoped for. You seemed so unapproachable at first, so she didn't expect you to turn out that nice. Guess Kate needs to stop listening to stereotypical ideas form so many TV series she had watched. New info for her: Mysterious and closed-off people aren't always villains.
One thing was for sure: you were skilled, and she could not fail to notice it. The way you moved the sword and made sword art look easy. Now, thinking about it, she realized you had knocked out most of the criminals, not cut them unconscious. She needs to pay more attention to her surroundings. So seems you are on friendlier side, huh?
You were determined to fight crime â how noble of you. So, when Kate, in the middle of a conversation with a long-finished coffee, asked you out of the blue,
-âDo you want to do patrols together sometime?â â she didn't expect you to agree, cringing at herself.
You surprised her second time but you did â and you even shot her a smirk.
Fast forward a week or two and here she is, stuck with you for half the week or more, because sometimes she is too busy, sometimes you wanted to do patrols on your own or had things to do. Thatâs fine! Kate, remember that personal space is important. And Kate is not lonely without you, why would she be? But when you were together, she enjoyed the patrols - much more than she usually did.
Yeah, it was hella messy at first. It was hard to find a right rhythm of work together, to synchronize actions, but once you did, â not without trial and error, and with her shooting at you and you messing up her shots â patrols became so much fun. From a practical point of view, you served as decoy and the main target for the enemies, distracting them and allowing Kate to take perfect shots while covering your back. But you also protected her back when enemies were near and Kate was in the middle of shooting. So, it was a win-win situation for both of you. On top of that, she finally found an audience for her puns â that was yet another win in her book. She even made you laugh a few times, so it was definitely an achievement. You also provided her with a good example of efficiency and accuracy in battle, so much so that she sometimes wonders where you learnt your skills.
You were also nice â much nicer than you gave yourself credit for. For example, during a break in one patrol, when she was, surprise, surprise, messing up the training â she defiantly needs to sleep a bit more and drink less coffee, but whatever - and you did not made fun of her, you helped and gave her a little praise, even gave her snacks. Or there was time when you came to patrol on really hot day with iced coffee. She also remembers seeing you talking with animals, only nice people do it right? Not to mention how cute it was⊠she had to admit it. Or the way you would ramble about something ramble â god it was cute. Oh no, she began to fawning over you?
And yet, you still carried an air of mystery around you, and color her interested, she wants to cracks you, to get to know you⊠because of her personal purposes. But really, if you two are partners, she needs to know you better than anyone.
So, in her eyes, here is the perfect duo. A knowledgeable swordsman and a funny archer. So, what`s in store for the both of you on another patrol?

Reader, who is a little bit like * - the Herta. Hope I carried out my idea properly :3
You know you were a genius. One of a kind. And Val gave you credit, of course, but not enough. Unfortunately to her, surely.
In your eyes, it was a common sense to work on things that matter something to you currently. Well, to put it bluntly, you only worked on the things that pick up your interest at the time you work on them, when you think projects you work on worth your time and effort, only when. Why settle on boring if word hides so many wonders?
But in eyes of others, Val especially, you were⊠if saying politely a bit messy, and if saying bluntly too messy, leaving a tray of finished and abandoned experiments behind you, not bothering picking it up. That wasn't good for Val. For all your worth, the trail that was leading to you was too long and easy to follow. And Val is not one to risk her reputation.
So⊠you should have been eliminated. Should have been burned alive with others.
But you are you, great you.
You simply didn't obey her.
One reason - who is she to give you missions?
You worked on her? Ha! You worked *with her*. She gave you project ideas and all the equipment and means to lead those projects to success. Nothing more
Secondly, you saw through her and her schemes. Not to mention that you were always one step ahead: first you found Bucky and worked with him to catch unfortunate operatives; then you found out about Val's projects and started to search for her secrets. Which leads you to working with them, working with *Yelena*.
When Yelena saw you for the first time, leaning on the wall and doing something in your tablet and occasionally adding up sarcastic remarks, she thought you were annoying. Like really annoying. Even when you joined her in convincing Bucky to help with the situation.
When you were the only one who tried to help her to talk to Bob instead of attacking him like rest of the team, she was grateful for your help.
When you came out looking composed but hiding the obvious rage that your memories had made you feel, she felt empathy.
But right now, when all of the team was here, adjusting to the new life in Avengers⊠cough... Watch tower, she didn't know how to feel.
She read about you through recovered Val's files you yourself gave to her as a «study book and light literature». She watched you praising yourself and dismissing others. She saw your project first hand. And Yet, Yelena knew full picture wasn't there.
So far, she knew where she stood with each of the team members. She had respect for Bucky, slight irritation for Walker, understanding for Ava, care for Bob and familial love for her father, Alexei. But what about you?
She couldn't figure out your dynamic and that wasn't helpful. She needed to know how to act with you to keep not only the team together, but her own facade AND mental health
Did you annoy her? Yeah, with your comments about how great you were and your attitude and the things you said. And God, you were such a poser. Such a poser. But she never got too irritated by it. Most of the time, she knew you were acting and talking out of your genius status â a high pedestal you created for yourself that others could never reach â and that made you more difficult to understand. Even if you seemed full of yourself, you did things for others that could be mistaken for caring. If she wasn't vigilant and observant â or just paranoid enough â she wouldn't really notice that. But she did. She noticed that the things they needed were always nearby when you were around.
Did Bob want some tea? Oh, the kettle was already on and there was tea on the table. *Sometimes with sweet treat⊠no need in saying thanks. *
Was Bucky's arm in the dishwasher? Next time he puts it on, it will be calibrated a bit better for him. *Wakanda technologies are good but sometimes it needs a bit optimizing. *
Did Ava feel a bit out of it? Oh, why were quantum particles on the coffee table in the communal area instead of the lab? *Uh just put stuff you need to place you can reach it*
Walker were trying to prepare to new mission? He found data on his laptop about it. Optimized data... *What? It`s just common scene to do this*
Alexei... well. as he running loudly towards the enemy, who were clearly in the majority? You can be sure that their comms would be off⊠magically like the rest of those instances. *We donât need this much of distraction*
And she had noticed few of those wonders happed to her. And those wonders happed to her more compared to the others.
When her vest was really damaged in one of missions, she surely didnât expect to find a new one hanging on her chair the next day. It certainly was in her style, made according to her preference and even had just enough pockets to her liking. Hell, that new vest even matched her jewelry. And it was light and really sturdy, the supper bulletproof vest kind of sturdy, yet flexible and comfortable in the same time. She didnât expect this much of gear up great. For her it was easy to find a culprit behind it even with no note and nothing, but it still was obvious who made it. The one and only user of the lab practically and owner. The only one who know how to work with fabricator. As for you, you didnât hide blueprints, didnât said anything about it upfront. The only resembles of reaction you how were your comment when you saw her in it
- Hmm it looks better on the supposed owner. â you mused looking at her as if she was part of your recent project
One time, just as she was treating her scrapes after another crazy mission, her first aid kit ran out. She dragged herself to get a new one and found one sitting at the table in the medical bay as if waiting for her. It had everything she could possibly need, and more. Yelena wasn't completely pain-averse, but she was taken aback by the sight of chlorhexidine, the same stuff Melina used to treat her scraped knees as a child. Back when she wasnât used too and she didn't like the burning sensation of hydrogen peroxide and alcohol, so it was a bit of a surprise to see it in the kit. And there are also a few different types of bandaids, including beige ones and some cute and funky ones with animals on them. As if wasnât enough there also vitamins and color-coded instructions of when what how to take them. It took her quite a few minutes of staring to took it all in⊠and take it back to her room wondering how the hell did you find out about her childhood preferences. And she knew it was you, you purposefully left your signature and best wishes on the instructions.
What with the first aid kit? -Yelena asked you once you left your lab
I made it useful, more or less â you answered nonchalantly
Hard to argue with that â she shrugged
When she thought the tea privilege Bob was getting from you was his thing exclusively, you proved her wrong. For some context, while talking for Bob, Yelena one time mentioned that tea time was a thing in Russia and tea time was form of bounding time for families and friends. And he didnât pass and opportunity to use her words against her⊠and probably will use it against others too in the future. And if the way others were joining in with this 'family tradition' was another story, the way you welcomed yourself to their tea party is definitely worth mentioning. They were just having a normal tea time when you walked into the common room. You walked in, sat next to her, crossed your hands and pointed your nose up, as if you were expecting something. As if they should have known what you wanted them to do. After a moment of awkward silence and confused staring from their side, you finally took charge of the situation and poured yourself a cup of tea, and then sat right back, letting out unsatisfied huff.
You were expecting us to do it? - She asked, accent thickened and sounding a bit confused, annoyed and shocked by your audacity.       Â
What? It`s a common decency and politeness no? â you answered, huffing once more.
It would be if you were to ask nicely â she answered successfully shutting you up
Thatâs how you started joining in regularly. In the beginning you were just sitting, looking at the cup as if the idea of tea inside it was your research topic. When they got used to it your presence and their conversations moved on from being awkward it took you few «tea parties» you started occasionally joining in on them with your usual remarks and smart flashy words. Sometimes tea time became your personal ramble time. You also started bringing in your own teapot with some fancy tea with Chinese names she couldnât pronounce or remember, saying it was good for focus and health and to be honest she didnât care to remember all that you said about some leaves in hot water. But still it was good. And one time you find her drinking tea alone you joined in, almost as per usual. But this time you surprised her by bringing pastries, and not some stuff from grocery store but real Vatrushka`s. Color her surprised and happy.
What? Thought you would appreciate it. You can thank me latter â you said, catching her gaze.
Maybe that's when she started talking to you. As if having a proper conversation kind of talking. She was amazed to find out that, she kinda liked talking to you, was even more shocked when she realized you are actually a pleasant company. Maybe thatâs why she started paying more attention, reading between the lines every now and then, to understand you better. Yelena found she was enjoying your conversations. You were smart and daring, and you could keep up a with her banter, with her banter. That`s rare. Yeah you were still full of yourself, even fuller of yourself than Walker, but so much more pleasant to talk to compared to him. But unlike how everyone could shut Walker up, she was the only one who could keep you calm when you got heated. She had a knack for it, and even Val wished she could do it. Yelena found your insufferable and confident attitude somewhat charming, sometimes even funny. Maybe thatâs why she kept talking to you.
Even your obsession with science and research was cute and respectful in her eyes. You found your place on the team as a so called «Brainiac» of the team, not villain but smarty pants per say. Someone who helped behind the scene and occasionally joined un in fights. That was useful, you could deal with smart words while they were dealing with bad guys. But maybe just for her you made some of science sound more reasonable. Yeah sure in your lab, where you worked in science and occasional and with self-talk which sounded like gibberish, when she wanted to know something you made and effort to make sound more reasonable. And since she knew firsthand about your tendency to stay cooped up in your lab all day long, sending tiny robots for occasional elaborate type of coffee and sometimes she got curious about what were you up to, Yelena became frequent in your lab.
Not to stray too far away, one moment of your sudden care happened exactly in the lab. She was dealing with a severe headache, a kind when painkillers didnât help and you wanted to crawl a wall. And just her luck, rest of Watch tower was too loud: her rooms were occasionally visited by her Dad whom had another oh so amazing design project and wanted to share his ideas. In common room Walker was his usual self, Ava commented on him, Bucky was staring to loudly and Bob was snacking on something to strong smelling for her. And sound was too bright, glass windows didnât help at all, curtains be dammed. Â She knew your lab was mostly smells free and your occasional comments shouldnât be so loud. So, she went to you.
Mind if I say for a bit? â she asked, trying to find casual, but her frown was a huge give away. It took you just one look to figure out what was up with her.
Armchair if in the corner â you gestured â should be dark enough, and, just because I`m nice, I`ll refrain from talking.
And finally, after finding a strange but comfortable position on the armchair, which was much comfier than it had seemed, she could finally drift off for a bit and sleep off some of the pain. She felt something warm and cozy being placed on her in the middle of her sleep â a blanket. And it smelt just like some herbs near Melina's place in the countryside outside St Petersburg, and thatâs how she finally relaxed and blacked out. When she woke up, it was still quiet and dark, but now she could take it all the surrounding, and blanket on her really smelled like herbs, but also a small robot near her was carrying her a cup that smelled like herbs too
ŃŃĐŸ/ Chto eto? â she asked, groggy from sleep.
Herbal tea with peppermint, chamomile, ginger, lavender, hawthorn, valerian: should be helpful with headaches â you answered, sounding nonchalantly but she didnât miss your glance.
Why does these blanket smells like that tea? â she asked taking the edge of it
Obviously because it has herbs in it too, of course. Â â you huffed, looking at her, your gaze a bit softer with concern.
Huh, were you letting me marinade?
You and your jokes â you huffed hiding a chuckle
Just like that you were becoming close, you showed your care she was letting you ramble. Yet your dynamic still was unclear to her. But you still⊠you confused her. She couldnât deny that you sparked in her genuine interest to get to know you. She could see it coming both ways, somehow. But what if your interest was temporary? What if you just saw her like just another of your projects? What if your interest was only temporary? Â
Authors note 2: About Joker's! Kid reader. Do I want to continue? Yes! Do I have ideas? Yeah. Am I trapped by my current fixations on marvel? Totally⊠I'll need some time and I'll continue on writing, rewatch DCAU and I`ll continue my series. Exams and work took a lot for me, and now that I finally have rest, I should recover real soon and my inspiration will come back. Â
On my one day off exams and work my fried dragged me out to watch Thunderbolts* and just like that they opened a pandora box. Currently I can't stop adoring Yelena (and it was for over a month) and she gave me strength to overcome my problems, so yeah, I love this girl so so  so much <3. Also, I`ve been thinking about making ASMR series on her (I can do, and if you'll be interested, I can drop a link on it of I'll do it, just let me know)
*Zugzwang - (from German «compulsion to move») is a situation in chess and other turn-based games where a player is forced to make a move, but any possible move will worsen their position
You wouldnât call yourself a talented person, no, not in the right mind. But you had one talent, or rather skill, that was really helpful in both your previous and present lives. Maybe that was the one and only thig you learned with your biological father and was thankful for it. You were stealthy, really stealthy. Enough to be not seen when you wanted to. You see, in family of bats and birds, you were a little predator cat, but they weren't your pray, not yet. You didn't grow enough resentment and claws yet. And, you hope, never willâŠ
Back to the topic, as much as you were prone to getting sidetracked  as you wrote your thoughts down, you knew better than to forget something important, you never knew how much stealthy you were until you understood that even this high class vigilante family didnât notice you when you tried to hide, and taking in consideration that you were master of hiding in plain sight,  you used it to your advantage.
Your note-taking, more of a necessity than a hobby, wasnât forgotten by you even for a day. It was essential. It was your own encyclopedia and thoughts tracker. And your database about batfamily whom you continue to study. You started to eavesdrop around the manor, in hopes to learn more here and there. More about family dynamics, more about world around you, more useful things. Sneaking around was easier than you thought it would be. Maybe because the habits of manor were tired of your sickening presence and went to ignoring you? You couldnât tell, but you could and used this opportunity to the fullest.
Dickâs and Damianâs outings were the easiest to spy on. âDikc and Damian talk a lot about school and Damians projectsâ you noted one day. To many, rants about school and classes were as dull as watching the paint dry, but not for you. Those conversations were your own âschool lessonsâ about the world outside the manor, the normal way of life. And as much as you didnât like arrogance in Damianâs voice you were thankful for his diligence in studying and passion in arts, and special thanks went to Richard, who could make almost anyone talk, âŠ. âif only he tried to make me talkâ thatâs how most of your notes on this subject ended.
And the more you heard about school the more you were confused one particular subject. Why couldnât you go there? Itâs seemed so essential for any kid. You tried to talk to Alfred knowing he is most likely to answer, yet old butler had many tactics to not answer on questions he did knew answer to.  He advised you to go to the library, and if Jason wasnât currently staying in manor you would have go there or watch old documentaries on tv. Approaching Bruce wad not just hard but more like out of question. You didnât want to feel his judgmental gaze on yourself. Was it luck, was it your presence in questioning Alfred, but one eavesdropping sessions ended with you finding out reason why you were locked in manor. âHe called that I would be a danger to othersâ â you wrote in your notebook, your tears drip down on the page, smudging the ink. âwhy do they see him in me? Why canât they see me?â you handwriting was getting more and more messy with every word.
After hearing that conversation, you even stopped going out in your little âexpeditionsâ. Those words really discouraged you, made you feel so hopeless. You understood earlier that your attempts were near futile , but being called like that broke something in you. Why bother going out of the room, if you only anger them?
âNo matter how much I study them they will hate me so why bother? Right?â
Well, there was a chance that you will anger someone even in staying in your room, the one you couldnât predict. Your room was in the same corridor as Damian's and Tim's room, which only added to your unwillingness to go out. Yet, it didnât matter that no one will go in your room. To your surprise your newly always closed door was the matter of attraction to one of Damianâs pets. Alfred the cat became your daily visitor, which you couldnât really control because this one was really stubborn and always had opinion of it's own. So no matter if door was locked, this cat would sneak in. You knew that it wouldnât end well, , butt you couldnât deny comfort of living being near you. You felt accepted by this creature, and when it was around you didnât feel like the walls would swallow you alive.
Your little happiness was short lived, and as you thought, Damian was furious when he found out that cat was near you. For you, it was just another day when Alfred the cat walked in. You were practicing reading out loud and the little creature elegantly walked in, and curled by your side. You continued reading, not bothering closing the door behind the cat. âWas the phrase grave mistake something that described situations like that? â â you wrote soon after. Damian, was looking for his cat, and seeing your open door and saw you.
Reliving all the yelling wasnât something you wanted to do. It was all a blur of insults and accusations, something about how you were horrible and also a pet stealer. You were sure you spaced out in between. Thatâs why you didnât knew all this yelling attracted attention of another habitat of this corridor. You didnât knew someone not only watched this scene but also stepped on
Damian, I think thatâs enough on them â the tired voice broke off the yells of youngest bat
But they had the audacity to steal my cat! -Damian counter attacked the argument
Alfred the cat is the cat, and cats do what they want, Damian- the voice sighed, and his owner walked in your room - now, tale the cat and go, juts donât bother yourself with yelling.
As you slowly went back into the right state of mind, you realized that it was Tim who stopped Damian form yelling at you. You looked at him, not knowing what to say or how to react, so you did what you could do aside from sneaking around, you stared at him. Tim on the other side lingered near the exit of your room, analyzing you and pushing the icky feeling he felt around you because of your background away.
Hey⊠you okay? â He asked, knowing full well you werenât okay. You were a kid of the Joker crying out loud! But something about how Damian yelled at you didnât sit right with him. Yeah, in many circumstances he was acting the same if not the worse, but he could ignore that seeing you getting yelled at wasnât okayâŠ
You simply nodded, not looking at him, looking down at the ground, fidgeting with book you tried to read, and your action did not went unnoticed.
You like reading? Or just this book? â Tim inquired before he could processed he did so. Gosh, what he was doing wasnât logical, you were so so like that horrible man but you also was so so alone, so abandoned in the house he found his new home.
Iâm practicing â you mumbled out the answer, knowing that you couldnât ignore his questions longer without proper answer.
Oh⊠good luck I guess â Tim answered awkwardly, before taking his leave, but before he walked out and returned to his work he gave you a final look âyou were a very sad kid huh⊠and you liked booksâŠâ he noted about you
You found Timâs actions strange. Why would he protect you? Why would he stay? He was the one who ignored you so long, the one who gave you a constant cold shoulder and yet he stopped Damian form making things ugly? It didnât made sense..
You decided to reread your notes, thinking that maybe  you missed something on his previous actions that would explain it. And yet, there was nothing that would give it away.
They were cold
They were unwelcome
They never accepted you.
So why would he protect you?
You returned to your usual study routine in some time after, needing answered in things you couldnât figure out on your own. Your note-taking continued.
âBruce is always busy with something. Sometime I think I canât really remain how he looks or how he soundsâ - You noted, drawing a dark silhouette near
âJason took up all library and living room, sometimes I canât go out to rat because he Is in the kitchenâ
âDamian is still angry, I donât think he will let out kitty near my roomâ
âAlfred avoids my question againâ
âDick promised to visit me, but he had to leave to the batcave right at time he was about to walk in my roomâ
âTim left book near my room. On the paper he left on the book he wrote that this book explains how to pronounce some wordsâ
It's been a while since you last posted. Are you okay?

But now I reached the point that I have more time, a pause in exam season, if I dare to call it like that. Â And well, from now on will have more time to write and just relax, hopefully ill regain my train of thoughts quick
Hi. Doctor you know when you will have another part of Black Fog ready? I really hope this doesn't sound like pressure, I'm just extra intrigued by that route and how it's going.

Thank you for asking and taking interest in my works đ
Joker's kid! reader: kids of villains: meeting Cass and Stephanie
Route: recovered dove
Warnings: bad writing, bad English, attempt at fluff?
Authors note: I know Im late. Its far past midnight where I am, and only now i found time to post. I am currently not able to post regulary, but I will post when i can. I will answer on all coments I haven`t yet after some sleep
They say, when you see something one time you cannot unseen it. In your case it was, when you heard something, you cannot stop hearing it. Well, since you become a real member of batfamily, free to hang out with everyone and almost everywhere in a manor, you were fee to converse and to hear the conversations of others. And while doing it, you started notice how everyone were bringing up two names. Cassandra and Stephanie.
One time it was when you came down to the batcave to bring Tim yet another cup of coffee. Dodging consequences of Damian's and Dick's training, you carefully completed your task and started watching the two of them
- Hey, Dams, is that a new move? - Dick commented, dodging the blow in his dramatically graceful manner
-Â Cassandra have showed it to me
- Cass? Wait, why she has name privileges and I don't?
.... Cass?
Or another day, or rather night, where you were woken up by the sudden thunder, and decided to watch few documentaries in the living room to distract yourself. On your way Chlory, who was on your shoulder pulled you, so you've look in the library and low and behold, Tim was doing something on the laptop sitting near the couch on the floor while Jason was on the couch reading. You walked over, sitting next to Jason, Chlory creaked happily to greet both of them.
- How was patrol? - you asked them
- good - Jay answered calmly, giving you a head pat
- yeah, aside from Jason acting not according to the plan - Tim grumbled
- hey, I couldn't possibly ignore the tip Steph gave me, could I?
.... Steph?
It led you to conclusion: they existed, well obviously, and they were part of batfamily, meaning your family. You had two more siblings, and you didn't know about them. You didn't really know why. Maybe Bruce have told you, because now thinking about that, you remember him mentioning you haven't met all of your family, but he didn't really talk in long about them with you. Maybe that was caused by the fact that he was busy, maybe by the fact that your adjusting to the family took longer than he thought. You couldn't know the real reason, that's why you were left theorizing. All you could say for sure, is that you wanted to meet them. You wanted to know Cass and Steph
Maybe, this wish was heard by stars or wind, like in fairytales you read to Chlory in order to practice your read and speech, but really soon after you met them, and, well, it all happened in true batfamily fashion
You Firstly met Steph. It happened one particularly noisy afternoon, when it seemed everyone who was in manor, that left you with Jason and Damian ... and some other voice. You've considering to stay in your room, but your hunger decided for you. So, you made your way to the kitchen.... and saw her, as your latter found out. She was emptying the fridge from every food option possible, with intention to make it her meal. As you stared at her, trying to analyze her opinion on you, she started back, slightly startled and surprised
- wow, this is awkward.... - she said, soon after, her eyes traveled between you and her food collection- wanna sandwich?
You nodded.
Soon you found out, Stephanie was a ... rather talkative person, a yapper as she called herself. And maybe it was overwhelming at times, because she talked even more than your biological father, you liked the way Steph talked. She talked with you as if your past didn't exist, as if she didn't care about your blood relations, and soon you found out she indeed did not
- Pfft, my father was a bad guy too. Am I a villain to ya? - she said one time you brought it up.
In Steph's eyes you were adorable! A little cutie, who looked a bit too lost, sure, but aside from that, you were cute as hell. So, she wanted to hang out with you. She told you funny stories about her school life and her patrols. Sometimes she joined you and Tim in your game nights. And she also helped you to color your hair.
As for Cass, you met her later. It wasn't something awkward, at least on her part. You just noticed that dancing room (yes you were surprised that it was in manor) which was usually empty and that's why closed, was open. You couldn't help but get curious and take a look. What you saw was really beautiful. You saw dancing only on TV, when Jason showed you ballet adaptation of Romeo and Juliette. But the moment was short lived, Cass noticed you right away, turning to look at you, and after few moments she softly smiled at you, giving you a little greeting wave.
Cas knew body language like no one else, she was professional in reading it, and she saw your hesitance, she noticed presence of small fear, but that was to be expected, judging by the what Bruce have talked about you. And she, for sure never noticed anything malicious in you. You were a kid, who was traumatized beyond measure. She could relate. She, just like you, werenât given a choice, but now in the Wayne manor everything is better. You safe now. You have control of what you do and who you are.
Cass took you after her wing in some sense. She showed you that with her you were safe. She also did not pressure you it any point in expression yourself though words, she could understand you without them. You both formed almost telepathic bound, understanding each other without words. And it was nice. Sometimes you both just hang out with each other, while being busy with your own activities: she could dance and you could draw, and sometimes (oftentimes) during those sessions you draw her. You both also started practicing reading and speaking together. Sure, it surprised her that you already had a deep knowledge about since language (thanks to Tim), but it made her proud of you. She was proud to be your older sister
And sometimes the three of you hang out together. Steph called three of you (and sometimes she forced squad Damian to join in) the villain's kids, and we'll name was suiting. Steph was talking about how three of you are trauma bounding while you and Cass were sitting down, chewing on snacks or choosing movies to watch, because those hang outs usually happened after patrols, and it was more reasonable to relax. That was just good. Yes, Steph and Cass sometimes fall asleep to your favorite documentaries (Though, Damian who usually was around when you chose the film watched it with you) but it was so domestic and comforting.
