Ah to be a skeleton pirate, free from the confines of the flesh, challenging state authority on the high seas with my skeleton pirate polycule...
Heya everyone,
I’m gonna be leaving tumblr. Not just for a while but hopefully for good. I got onto tumblr in the first place because I knew it was a website with a fairly left-wing and overtly queer user base and I figured I would fit in pretty well. This blog was initially supposed to just be a place to post some thoughts I’d been having about politics, philosophy, being queer etc. but as with a looooot of people I got sucked into “The Discourse" and recently I’ve started to see that mentality seep into my IRL interactions. This site taught me to get overly mad at people who misrepresented their political opponents, or deliberately misinterpreted good-faith posts, or exclusionists, or liberals, or whatever, the list goes on and on and on. I did the thing social media is structurally designed to get us to do which is get stuck into all sorts of arguments and discussions on menial bullshit, not actually doing anything except endlessly engaging. Well, I’m done. Goodbye to the only @staff worse than TF2’s developers, goodbye to the communalists and bookchinites pretending to be anarchists, goodbye to the liberals LARPing as ancoms, goodbye to the aro/ace exclusionists, the pan exclusionists, the truscum, the transmeds, the TERFS, goodbye to the pros, the antis, the anti-antis, goodbye to the people who’ve never read theory, telling other people that reading theory is actively harmful as they slowly turn into TERFs, goodbye to all the weird boomers who thought tumblr of all places was where they were going to be racist, goodbye to the people who don’t think queer history is important, and all the people who’ll get mad I called it “queer” history, goodbye to the three remaining libertarians stalking the notes of every goddamn post, goodbye to the american MLs buying Chinese stocks, goodbye to the Stalinists and the Maoists who’ve never encountered an anarchist outside of twitter, and goodbye to that one covid denying boogaloo blog posting pictures of IRA members completely unironically (fave blog honestly). I’ve spent too long looking at walls of text on subjects I don’t care for, so I shall be logging off and touching some grass, as I hope literally every single person on this website and every other does too. I think I’ll leave this blog active for a little while but hopefully after that I’ll be gone for good.
Goodbye and thank you to everyone who followed me, I am deeply grateful for all the serotonin I got from quite so many people pushing The Buttons.
I do wanna say goodbye to a couple of mutuals who I really should have got to know better: @anarcho-gamerist who liked a CS:GO post I made one time and is therefore my favourite mutual, @catgirlforeskin who’s discord server, despite everything, continues to scare me, @floatingstirnerhead who is the only person on this website with a better url than me, @ratatatat who has made me learn more about the supernatural fandom than I ever deserved to know, @anarchamints who is very cute, @pogasm who I should not be mutuals with but still am, and @civilisationkills who I really hope one day takes me fishing (they promised).
Whilst I’m here shout out to @guerrillatech, they’ve got a very cool lefty project about communication and organising going on, so do dm them if that sounds like your cup of tea.
I think that’s all, so I guess I’ll see ya nerds
the only bad artists are those whose work perpetuates discrimination or causes undeserved harm. there is no “aesthetic” excuse for fatphobia. humans are diverse. if you’d like to draw them, learn to draw fat bodies.
its 2021 if youre still doing discourse on peoples gender identities or sexual/romantic orientation you’re pathetic
we’re having a global resurgence of fascism and unparalleled regression into bigotry in places like the US and UK and you still want to bitch and moan about how “uwu pansexual people are biphobic” or whatever other goddamn nitpick you have about asexual, mspec, or nonbinary folks? get a goddamn hold of yourself and focus on the shit that actually matters jesus christ. tearing down other LGBTA+ people bc you have a goddamn superiority complex and wanna play oppression olympics isn’t fuckin helping.
"Found Dead" Nah he got got
He did get got! By his own wife 🤗
Eowyn is obviously the funniest character in Lord of the Rings because of what she does to analysis of the book, where you have to say "except for that one character who fears being restricted to the feminine role based on her gender and disguises herself as a man to fight valiantly on the battlefield as well as any of her comrades but comes to realise that her obsession with glory in battle was driven by an almost suicidal level of alienation to her mandated role and the complex mix of admiration and envy for the men around her that leads her to interrogate her own desires and tame her mental demons and ultimately craft a self-actualised life for herself with the support of the people she loves that balances freedom and social connection, the female representation in this book is terrible"

the conquest of bred dicks lmao
Important to remember: Behaviourism is a scam, reward and punishment are the same thing, motivation is internal and not external.
“The men interviewed in the piece, once sweet and caring, started changing after going down a rabbit hole of extremist political content on YouTube and involving themselves in radical right-wing online communities. Convinced of their absolute correctness, these men became at first frustrated, then verbally abusive once they realized their female partners did not always agree with their new views. Any dialogue attempted by these men was not made — at least as far as their partners could tell — with the goal of exchanging views and opening themselves to being challenged. Their goal was to assert their beliefs as fact; to teach their partner the truth, as a Christian missionary might put it. Every woman interviewed in the article — including those who were more formally educated than their boyfriends — makes reference to their former partners belittling their intelligence and rationality. These men were certain that they were the smart ones, that they had correctly assessed the “facts” with “logic,” and that if their womenfolk did not accept this without question, they were simply too dumb to understand.”
— Aisling McCrea, The magical thinking of guys who love logic
What's the beware the pipeline meme? I've seen you talk about it but I've never actually seen it
Says "BEWARE OF THE PIPELINE" and it starts with a skinny nerdy guy that says "HE/HIM" next to him and as they go through "he/they", "they/them", "she/they" and "she/her" they get a fatter ass and a smaller waist and thicker thighs and start wearing more and more revealing clothing except the last one isnt like showing off her ass and stuff like the others which just compounds my weird feelings about everything at play.
I dont like it. Largely because I've met a lot of people who think like that so it makes me mad uncomfortable. And I think I'd be far less uncomfortable with it had I not seen it being shared by people who clearly just view people like me as "eggs."
Some dude in 2020: You should not judge a historical figure, a man from the past, by the modern ethics! He was a product of his time. 500 years ago his actions were completely normal! It’s present-ism, we can’t judge… bla-bla-bla…
People from 500 years ago: Oh my, this guy is such a bastard, a genocidal butcher, a total piece of garbage. Let’s keep records of this douche so people from the future shall hate him too.
Columbus’s crew were writing about what a genocidal monster he was. There were mutinies and uprisings by his crews and colonists constantly. If his contemporaries were willing to risk the ire of the queen of Spain to oppose him, we have every right to call him out on it too.
And you know who else opposed him? Indigenous Americans. Africans who were trafficked in the slave trade he helped create
“This was normal in that time period” always leaves out the implicit assumption “… for white people”. It completely fails to acknowledge how the victims of these atrocities felt
And there has never been a point in history without people who I could sit down and talk to and come to a general political agreement with, who opposed all forms of hierarchy and fought for liberation. Even among colonial and imperial societies. By no means was it impossible at the time to be better than they were - so they have no excuse

Thesis: the rise of fanwank and anti culture correlates directly with diminished understanding of what “romantic”, in a literary sense, actually means.
It doesn’t mean “this is ideal or healthy or even realistic”. It means “this is beautiful, this is tragic, this is grotesque, this stirs emotion”, even if it’s not, as @starryroom puts it, something you would be comfortable seeing play out in front of you at Taco Bell. It’s about grandiosity and mythology and heroism writ large. It’s about playing with the id, as beautiful and terrible as it can be.
LET LOVE AND LUST BE MONSTROUS.
i feel like Guillermo del Toro ghostwrote that
“I didn’t say I liked it. I said it fascinated me. There is a great difference.”
