Close. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
I absolutely love Invasion, but some of their rares, nowadays? Laughable.
strongly of the opinion that golos is too powerful and consistent to be fun in brawl
Honestly, he is rough if one doesnāt have enough removal. I put that stupid Field of Ruin into all of my brawl decks because Field of the Dead is such a pill & 99% of Golos decks run it I swear.
Not only that, but the fact that the Commander tax is āhalfā? Crazy. Cause they search for a land, so just gotta make land drops to plop Golos our repeatedly.
SIGH. Yeah, real tough nut.
we joke a lot about "magic as Richard Garfield intended" but literally sealed deck is the closest to that ideal. you open up about $30 worth of cards and play with what you have, exactly as the game was originally designed to work
He did go and create Keyforge. So if anyone wants to play the way he intended, they still can.
does somebody have the words to explain whatās so sleazy about a corporation using the promise of donating proceeds from a product that is in itself intended as a celebration of a marginalized group at a premium mark up?
like to me what I just wrote alone is good enough to condemn it as much or more than any other secret lair, but a lot of people are defending it for the charity thing alone. do they not realize you could donate to that group directly and instead all this does is let Wizards pocket a paycheck while simultaneously writing a check for charity that on paper is from them but really is just free good PR
HOW TO PLAY MASS LAND DESTRUCTION AND HAVE NO ONE BE MAD (ala Jank Win Condition)
Some synergistic cards for Sasaya EDH. Nylea's Intervention from the newest set, Theros Beyond Death, was basicly made for Sasaya.
Every time I see Rite of Spring I think of this gal
6 mana to basically wheel yourself.
Also, I watched someone flip Sasaya once, it was glorious. Some scrub tried to Doom Blade her too!
The person, in response, activated her again showing his hand again. So good!
the funniest print error in MTG was when they accidentally made the Portuguese version of Stoic Rebuttal do quite literally nothing
as an interesting footnote, there is exactly one real Magic card that does literally nothing when it resolves:
Make a deck based on casting this multiple times, but everything is CMC 4<+
I've been brewing up a deck over the past couple of nights. The theme is farmer tribal. Building the deck with only flavor in mind, who would you have at the helm? My list has Kestia, the Cultivator as my current commander since we get 3 colors instead of 2 if we went with Karametra, God of Harvests.
Feel free to suggest any auto includes for a farmer themed deck. Here are some more obvious picks:
I am HERE for this. Make it Bant so you can run Irrigated Farm.
Plow Under; cards with the word āfarmā, āharvestā, āseasonā; SCARECROWS; OXEN; Veil of Summer; Autumn Veil, lots of farming equipment from Innstrad blocks (human tribal?).
YOOOO MAKE THIS DECK PLEASE
For anyone wondering why I call āTarget creature you control deals damage equal to its power to another target creatureā the Bite keyword, is cause
The āBiteā template started getting going with this card. Then Monstrous Onslaught and Ilk afterwards.
Plus, you know, it rhymes with Fight, which is similar.
Green needs to go back to fighting instead of just dealing damage equal to its power.
And while weāre at it, if Greenās going to draw cards based off of a creatureās power, sacrificing the creature should be an additional cost, too.
There needs to be a risk to match the reward.
Iām a big fan of the ābiteā mechanic & would rather not go back to fighting. Maybe something like Fight but if the opposing creature is dealt lethal damage then there is no reprocussion.
Green already needs two cards to do creature removal and card draw, both being negated by instant speed kill spells. Momentous Fall gets countered? OUCH.
Return of the Wildspeaker? Livable.
As it stands, Green is just too good to not be knocked down a peg.
It has ramp, removal, card draw, and so much value stapled to its big, beefy, trampling creatures that something has to go at this point.
I fully believe that sacrificing a hypothetical 7/7 to draw into three or four more hypothetical 7/7ās that it can easily play out next turn after ramping for most of the game isnāt going to set it back too far gameplay wise.
And going back to fighting forces Green to think to play around possible pump spells.
MaRo has said that no one color should be better than all the rest, and that if you want to do things that a single color canāt do, thatās what making a two- or three-colored deck is for.
Right now, that is just simply not the case with Green; at least as far as Commander is concerned.
I think, and this is all opinion, that green choosing from such a large selection of ābest ofāsā is the issue. Gaeaās Revenge is a solid creature, but is now replaced by Carnage Tyrant, etc.
But I do understand that when mana ramp is essential to winning, and one color is the best at it, then that skews in its favor.
The way I see it (without having thought into it for too long) green is advantageous at having 1-of threats, but not the most combotastic or synergistic strategies. Also, granted, Iām thinking from a more mono-green stance, and I understand that combined with other colors then itās a powerhouse.
The point Iām trying to make is that I donāt think taking away Bite and/or non-sacrificing cars draw is the answer. I would think itās being more devoted to green only mana ramp & probably taking away haste and/or resiliency from the creatures. Like, Nyxbloom Ancient, Birds of Paradise, etc only adding up green? Of course, Nissa is a powerhouse in standard mentioning forests, but Iām talking Wild Growth-like ramp.
Idk, this post is getting long and I feel Iām not the most articulate, but I love these kinds of conversation and I wish I could be more...positively contributive (?) to it.
Tl;dr- Bite & Non-sac draw are fine imo, make mana ramp G only and/or scale back creature resiliency/immediate board presence.
Meme template material here
Fun fact: the artwork depicts a Mindslicer, and guess what? It doesnāt care about dealing damage.
Magic: the Gathering - Conservation of Space
In order to better organise game state and conserve space on what may become a rather crowded playmat with a fully powered Mycoloth, redditor JoeCarboxyl had this rather brilliant idea for a slim 1/3 saproling token featuring everyoneās favourite Flora colossi from Planet X.
Sex is cool but have you ever stopped an infinite combo with Krosan Grip
Getting nasty with my girl, then she reached down and knocked me out with that Krosan Grip.
A match made in heaven. There isn't a combo here, just two cards that help eachother out. Well, more so in that Hau Tuo helps Nylea. It's a very lopsided relationship. Hua Tuo is a bottom.
To think Nylea is anything other than a top is sacrilegious.
Death Grasp
Yawgmothās greatest joy came from watching one hero defeat another.
