Evie was no stranger to the glances of others. It came with the territory of being ‘The Fairest of Them All.’ So she noticed the man’s eyes locked onto her own hazelnut eyes which sparkled. A smile which had a natural enchantment to it. She flipped her beautiful blue hair. While the stare did not surprise her, the fact her approached her did.
”Thank you…It isn’t the first time I’ve heard that. Your voice speaks volumes about you. You must be much older than you appear. I’m Evie, daughter of The Evil Queen. Now tell me, what do my eyes say to you?”
“I am surprised you caught on to that. If I count the time I was a spirit...I have lived for over five thousand years. “ He said, as he was surprisingly young looking, maybe around the same age she was. Judging by the title she introduced herself in, this girl...was not of a nice alignment.
“I hope that title does not mean you go out of your way to truly be evil. The daughter does not always have to be like the mother, in terms such as those. “
A MOMENT’S PAUSE elapsed, during which cerulean gaze followed his rival’s steps as the other approached him, almost as if to determine whether this was truly him or if this was all another twisted game set by these lunatics to irritate him even further. Nothing would surprise him now, all things considered. But as he soon determined, only his rival had that annoying tendency of stating the obvious. Thus the quiet ‘hmph’ that escaped from his lips once more. Bringing himself to admit that perhaps he was glad to have happened upon the familiar face of his rival, was beyond his capability considering the circumstances— never mind something he would not care to do.
❝ And just how long did it take you to figure that out? ❞ Sarcasm latched onto every syllable in response to the last words. It took no genius to figure out that they were being held here against their will. Still, something else in the other’s words caught his attention and thus he spoke again. ❝ Are you trying to tell me that you haven’t recently arrived? ❞ Eyes narrowed almost as soon as the query had been uttered, for they caught sight of his rival’s duel disk; the same device that was absent from his arm. So it seemed that replacing his duel disk with a cheap copy was just a sick joke after all. Clearly this so-called scientists had a death wish.
It seemed kaiba was slowly beginning to understand what he was referring to when he meant by why he was without a duel disk, and why atem had one and a bit more of a standard here then how he was now. “ Yes, that is what I am saying. As it stands, I have been here for a grand total of two months. I have also been given a duel disk as time elapsed by. It seems that as you stay here longer, items we had back in our own world are returned to us. Although...” He said, deep in thought as he looked to his rival.
“ It would seem that people come and go here frequently. The system as a whole confuses me. However, you are much more used to this level of thinking then I. Perhaps you can make sense of it all in time. “ Giving kaiba a compliment may give him a more willingness to work together with him. He loves his own ego as far as anyone else with power and money does. If not, then he at least tried to humor him.
“ There are even citizens who live in this city who play duel monsters. “
★— It was like music to his ears; to hear that his team was working as a UNIT, even if he wasn’t there to supervise, given the teams were taking care of their designated sector. Either way it was wonderful to hear that the team was meshing, and that bonds were being formed. He couldn’t help but smile with pride.
He’d been in the city long enough to know about the power restrictions – and also long enough to now no longer possess such restraints. His powers had been fully unlocked, but that didn’t prevent him from empathising with those who hadn’t gotten their powers back yet.
With a gesture of his hand he indicated the other to follow, leading the way inside. ❛Oh yeah, we really do have our interesting mix of personalities. I couldn’t do without ‘em though, I feel as though the team would be BORING if we didn’t have that little OOMPH to us, right? This is the main hall, by the way. You have full access to it, if you take the elevator you’ll get to our personalised floors, we have our training room in the basement – just next to Tony’s lab. If you need weaponry or training, you go straight down there. For Tony’s lab though, you’ll need to talk to his AI to let you in – her names FRIDAY, she’s a tough cookie but she keeps this place safe. Her AI is present throughout this entire house, actually, so if you get lost you’ve always got her as your guide. ❜
The mansion was far more advanced the he had imagined the entire exterior was by what he could tell. At least as far as he could tell, this place was indeed something he needed to keep in the back of his mind as a home. His apartment was not living up to its needed space with his special roommates. It was easier when he was simply a spirit for yugi, but alas he survived. Looking around, he did notice something.
“ AI? This place has it’s own artificial intelligence system? Mr.Stark is quite more advanced then I thought. Reminds me of a old friend of mine....come to think of it, he and stark may get along. “ Kaiba and stark were like two sides of the same coin, minus kaiba’s own arrogance. Something...felt a bit off of this place thought.
“Captain, may I ask how the battle was for yourself? I had been so focused on the battle in Sector three I did not do the courtesy of reporting in once it was ended. I apologize for that. “
★— It was ALWAYS a pleasure to meet one of the team, one on one – especially one that had performed so well in the recent mission. He had heard; regaining data from the fight that all members had accumulated, going through each mission report with a fine comb, it was clear that Atem was a STAND out member.
He couldn’t help but eye the peculiar weapon attached to his arm, briefly – then again, he was the man who had walked around with a shield strapped to his arm on most days. His own hand reached out, returning a FIRM handshake – the man before him was respectful, and that earned just as much from the Captain himself.

The battle against the beast. No other name he had been able to give it, as it was a walking beast of mayhem. It had taken every ounce of his power and the other avengers he had nearby to take down the one beast finally on their side. Not without cost, and powers re-locked up. It was a shame that his loyal monsters, his comrades, were locked back up. However...they would not be gone for good. Even with his little, he would do what he could for the city.
“ I thank you for the kind words, captain. I was simply doing what I could with my powers fully unrestricted. It was us, together, as a team that gave us the little bit of light in that veil of darkness. It was a tough battle on every side, but we are here. “ He looked around the mansion, remembering he had only stepped in here a few times. Once with korra, and another upon registration.
“ If I could actually take you up on that tour, i’d love to see the place fully. By what I have heard, we have quite the interesting teammates, including ourselves of course.”
It was small curiosity that lead her eyes to the badge. She had never seen such an item on Atem before, but given the design and luster, it was a badge of importance similar to her papa’s detective badge. Which meant that…
And sure enough, Atem confirmed her suspicions. she had to admit, the badge actually suited him.
“Ahahahaha, I never pegged you as the type to flirt,” She said with a happy laugh. “I’ll take that compliment though. So since you are on the job that means I can tag around and rely on the hero to protect me then?” It was a joke of course, but she did have her intentions of tagging along. Mostly due to her own curiosity and growing mischievousness.
“I do not mind if you tag along, but do keep on guard. I am not sure if our enemy is truly out of this city. The beasts may have fallen with the cities efforts, but those drones may very well be alive. Hidden in the shadows. “ And this time around, the cards were without their magical powers. He had only one companion, and it could only do so much without preparation. Protecting makie would be limited at best.
“ Do not fret though. It is the duty of anyone who is guiding someone in the path of duel monsters to shield them from harm. Rest assured, I will protect you makie. “
“These city wide topics have been much worse in the past. Trust me, at least it is a simple basic topic tonight. At least the city is beginning to flow back into a normal setting then pure chaos. “

Hoping from portal to portal in order to navigate sectors had become too dangerous. Drones had taken over the city, swarming the surrounding sectors and districts with ease and quicker than she had thought possible. The Avatar had relied on her airbending to enhance her speed when travelling upon the rooftops of buildings around her; she had been advised to not take on a beast alone and she wasn’t stupid enough to do so. She had seen the destructive power of its fire breath in sector six, the area around her was evidence enough of how powerful this thing was… whatever it was.
The first thing she heard was the discordant screech of the beast from up ahead. She skidded to a stop atop a roof which wasn’t on fire and observed the deadly creature from a safe distance. As safe as she could be anyway.
—✕ █ ▌They aren’t supposed to work alone. None of them are. Tony Stark said the words himself, and Loghain is someone who follows his loyalties without much argument. He isn’t foolish enough to blindly trust any of his superiors, however, the words said by Stark and backed up by Captain Rogers both made sense. If a man in a suit who could fire lasers do nothing, then neither could Loghain.
Ryoma had his fair share of endless battle as of late in the city. It seems the droids would never stop coming. If it wasn’t that. It was certainly the hulking behemoths that were rampaging through the city destroying anything that was within its line of sight. He had kept the message from the Avengers clan close to heart. Under any circumstance do you not engage the behemoths by yourself. Even when the Hoshidian King wished to carry the weight of the burden among himself, It would be utter foolishness to even think that he could match it in strength as anything others have attempted to do were met with zero results.
Chaos continued at the wake of the beast. Battle cries and screams from those that wished to flee surrounded the area. Most bodies moving from the destruction, weeping over the lost. A surprising number moved toward the danger, perhaps as a challenge or to protect others - it really shouldn’t have been so surprising considering the amount of heroes Thor had already seen within the city.
The fist of the egyptian god had slammed into the face of the behemoth of a beast that was attacking the sector! And yet....it had no effect! The shockwave from the force of the punch was simply absorbed by the beasts power, as the blue demon looked on in rather confusion. A spike of fear and confusion came into the mind of the pharaoh, wondering what sort of phenomanon he was experiencing. A beast that seemed immune to brute attacks? Or was it...
The swift save from his tan friend had spared him his moment of lapse in his train of thought. Focusing enough to keep obelisk around, and yet he had lost his train of thought when the drones and beast had engaged upon him. Lucky for him, korra had his back. Lucky for him she was in this sector, or else he may have been finished already. “My apologize, Korra. I am trying to detect a weakness in this beast, and not even one of my most powerful monsters can harm it.....wait...”
Of course! He was thinking of this wrong! The banded headed individual corrected his wrongful thinking, as atem had tried to simply out-duel the beast one vs one like a normal game of duel monsters. This beast was a solo killer, and thus team work and grouped attacks would work best. That was a foolish thought of his to only bring out obelisk. Of course....bringing out obelisk alone required a great deal of mental and physical energy. However...the situation called for them.
He had to summon the rest of the gods.
“ Listen. I am about to summon two more beasts. I will then launch a triple attack against the beast’s left side in a attempt to harm it or knock it down. Please, friends, let us work with our powers together. Someone keep the drones off of me if they can. If I am striked down, the gods will leave with me. Now....give me a second. “
Deep concentration was needed to not only keep obelisk at full strength, but to summon two more egyptian gods to this realm. This realm was much further then back at home, and summoning them cost a lot of power. Slowly, he began to whisper words as he held in his hands two of the cards. Each one was a beast he was summoning. Focusing the red and yellow energies emitting off of the cards with a great deal of power.
“ Bless thy of the river of the river styx, guiding over the very sands and waters with your thunderous roar. Red body used for shield, twin mouths used to unleash thy fury. Obey thy command and descend upon the realm of the pharaoh to bring victory to the skies. I summon forth, Slifer the sky dragon!”
A thunder like roar bellowed across the skies, as red lightning sparked wildly around the sky as the card was placed upon the duel disk he had active. A red like tail emerged from the thickened clouds, coiling to almost wrap around the very sky itself with its size. Another roar came, as the golden eyes of the beast could be seen from the blackness around the cards. A swirl of clouds dispursed around it’s arrival, as it’s large mouth and red body came into view. The second egyptian god arrived, roaring as it flew next to the rising tormentor who had been knocked down. The blue beast was knocked down,but he was still able to fight. The red and blue beasts looked up, as a golden glow appeared in the sky.
The third, and strongest egyptian god was arriving.
“Great beast of the sky, please hear my cry. Transform thy self from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. Envelope the deserts with your glow, and cast your rage upon my foe. Appear in this twisted game, as I call thy name. I summon the Winged Dragon of Ra!”
From the skies once more, a giant mechanical like orb appeared with a powerful sun glow, beginning to shift around and take the shape of the final beast. A large, bird like phoenix beast appeared from the orb in a mighty flame, burning the missles and lasers fired at it from the beasts aerial defense system. It roared, as the three gods were now here. Levitating down in the middle of the beasts, flying next to each of them as they face the beast’s left side. Each god began to concentrate their power together. A powerful, and filled blue like lightning gathered in the mouth of the red beast. The fist of the blue beast charged up once more, swirling with the blue energy from before. The yellow beast, on top of it’s back had a large like cannon of fire gathering behind it. Each beast roared, firing their waves of energy together in a spiral blast towards the beast.
She had been looking at his medal on his right sleeve for quite some time now, as he finally caught her staring at it before giving a slight chuckle. “Yes, it is real. I am officially a Avenger of the city. Believe it or not, I am on patrol right now actually. “ He said, duel disk was at the ready to have to fight crime if he needed to do so.
“ I’m glad you are in better spirits, walking around about and looking as pretty as ever. “
