“blondie, you’re the princess, right?” he starts off, asking a question that they both already know the answer to so he doesn’t stop long enough for her to actually say anything in response. “so how come you can’t just make school starting back up so early illegal? give us longer summers by princess decree.” that’s not how the monarchy system on the island worked at all and flynn knew it, but that wasn’t going to stop him from complaining a bit about it. @ancwdream​

Rapunzel rose an eyebrow. She was about to respond but Flynn was quick to keep talking. She couldn’t help but laugh a bit at his question though. “I can’t really make big decisions like that. I can suggest them and give my input on things but that’s for my parents and school boards to decide. Sure, a longer summer would be nice but as princess I wouldn’t change it because I know it’s what’s best for everyone. However, I would have a whole week off for Halloween if I could so everyone could fit in their parties!”

“I don’t know. I’m still learning it all to be honest. I don’t ever wish to go back to my old life but I do wonder what it would be like to just live a normal, average life.”

“I-- I would be devastated. I don’t think they would ever do that to me though! I know they love me and want to keep me safe but I don’t think they would go that far. And even if they did nothing could keep us apart. I would do whatever it takes to still see him.”

“You’re right, even if the rest of the audience doesn’t boo him off, I sure as hell would be doing all the booing for them!” Lance remarked with a laugh. Of course he would do so out of messing with Flynn, as more than anything, he would find himself marveling at yet again something that Flynn was able to take and turn execute. At least, he’s suspecting that the performance would turn out good in the end, as Lance can’t fathom his best buddy losing any of his talents during the last five years. At the mention of her name, he blinked. “Rapunzel, as in the lost princess·Rapunzel?!”·

“Aw, that’s not nice! You should support him but it would be a little funny to see him get booed.” Rapunzel enjoyed seeing her friends succeed and have fun but this man might be doing the world a favor if he booed Flynn off the stage. The way he reacted at her name made her blush. She still was adjusting to her newfound fame and lifestyle. “Yes, that would be me,” she said with a shy smile.

At the mention of being a friend of Flynn’s, Lance’s eyes gleam as he shifted his gaze to take a good look at her. She didn’t look familiar to him in the way of where he could’ve possibly recognized her from one of Flynn’s other ‘friends’ he had back in the day, but there was something about that blonde that was somewhat recognizable to him, he just couldn’t point out exactly what. Still, if she was someone who did know Flynn, Lance gladly grinned at her as he let out another laugh. “If I didn’t already know how talented of a singer he was, I would’ve guessed he’ll be sentencing himself to be booed off the stage with this song choice.” He commented, with a shake of his head. “But, a miracle would happen. A gloriously and still hilarious miracle.”·

A friend of Flynn’s was a friend of Rapunzel’s! She loved being around people since she had been locked up for most of her life and meeting one of Flynn’s friends was exciting. Even if the guy was from ‘back in the day.’ “He might still be booed off. I’ll cheer him on though! I’ll be laughing but still cheering.” She smiled up at the man. “I’m Rapunzel, by the way.”

“Call Me Maybe?” The ex-prisoner read with a shake of the head at the program he held. He currently was walking randomly through the festival. “Bold choice of song, I’ll give him that.” Lance commented to himself, despite having not a single clue on who this Gene guy even was. Then again, after being in prison for five long years and have just recently gone out a little over a week ago, most of these names listed within the program weren’t familiar to him. In fact, the only name that was familiar was— “Well I be damn.” Flipping the page, his gazed landed on one name in particular. Flynn Ryder. And then Lance read the name of the song he was planning on performing. “Redneck Woman!?” Lance then read out loud with an exaggerated gasp. He ended up laughing to himself a second later at it.

Rapunzel was super excited for Battle of The Bands. She was also very nervous. She was the first one preforming so that was cool but also a bit nerve wracking. That was alright though! She would have fun either way. She was walking around before the show began when she overheard a man talking. “Redneck Woman! My friend is preforming that!” she said, proudly with a bright smile. “Personally, I don’t think it’s the greatest choice but it will be fun to watch.”

Birthday, birthday, birthday. Cam was nearing the end of his second White Claw, now feeling the effects of it starting to impact his body. How had he not gotten into drinking earlier? Legality somehow made it better, though, and that was what encouraged him to get the bartender’s attention. Pointing around the moderately sized grouping, he said ‘them’ with every accented gesture, denoting who he’d be buying the round of shots for. (His dad had given him a little bit of money to spend tonight, admittedly, but he hadn’t expected having nearly as many people around to treat with it. He’d almost cried over it earlier, but instead had asked the DJ for more ABBA between strangers’ karaoke picks.) That’s why, by the time his hand swung a full 180 degree angle around the room, it naturally pointed to the person beside him without any mind. After a second of realizing he hadn’t even checked who it was, Cam quickly looked over. “I mean, if you want one?”

Rapunzel loved celebrations of any sort. She especially loved birthdays! They were kind of like a celebration of life. They celebrated living one whole cycle around the sun! Rapunzel didn’t get much for her birthdays growing up but now that she was out of that awful situation she loved to celebrate with her friends. Being out with Camden and some of his friends was great. The drinks were good and she was beginning to feel a bit tipsy. She was just happy to be there though. The ABBA was great too. “Sure, I’ll take one!” she said, accepting his offer. “Next one’s one me though!”

Shego wasn’t trying to start a fight this time. Believe it or not she was just trying to enjoy another day of solitude, doing illegal things and getting away with it. She had just pocketed herself a new ring that she was properly checking out as she made her way down the street, but of course if she was going to bump into anyone, it was the princess. “Move it blondie,” she said, brushing her jacket off after the altercation. “Some of us are trying to pretend you aren’t around the corner.”

Rapunzel was enjoying another beautiful day. Every day was beautiful in her eyes! Even the rainy ones. She had her art supplies in a messenger bag that was draped over her shoulder and was on her way to the park to paint a picture of the ducks she always saw at the pond when she ran into someone. “Oh, I’m so sorry!” When she realized who it was she frowned. Shego was the first person she encountered that didn’t like Rapunzel. Rapunzel didn’t know what she ever did to her but it confused her and made her sad that someone didn’t like her. “Well, pretend away because I’m not going anywhere.”

“As you wish,” he agrees, grinning down at her. Flynn could most certainly do that. In fact he already owned the movie back at his place, so it wasn’t going to be any problem at all. Once they finally reached the apartment complex he and Pascal lived in, he was quick to unlock the main door and hold it open for Rapunzel to go through first. “After you, Blondie.”

Rapunzel gasped and looked up at him. “You’ve seen it! I love that movie!” She was clearly excited. When they got to the apartment she walked in and smiled at him. “Thank you, kind sir.” She made her way over to the couch and sat down, sitting with her legs crossed. “Can we make popcorn?”

“We are not watching Cats,” he’s quick to agree. No way was he sitting through that monstrosity unless he was in some way inebriated. And Flynn had a feeling after the conversation they just had that getting fucked up in anyway was not a good idea right now. “Nah, you can pick.” After having upset her so much with his joke, he figured letting her choose the movie was the least he could do to make up for it.

“I didn’t really want to watch it anyway,” she said with a shrug. Rapunzel usually liked most movies she saw but even she knew that would be hard to get though. “Well, alright. If you say so.” She furrowed her brow and pursed her lips as she though. This would be so much easier if she could be scrolling through Netflix. “What about...The Princess Bride?” she asked, looking up at him hopeful since she knew he would likely not want to watch a movie like that.

“No frown here. Don’t know what you’re talking about, Blondie,” he lies, a small yet genuine smile forming on his lips at his words. Now this was what felt more natural between them - teasing each other. “Alright, let’s go then.” Stepping out of the hug they had kept themselves enclosed in throughout their whole conversation, Flynn moved his arm from her waist to be draped over her shoulder as he began to steer her in the direction towards his and Pascal’s apartment. “All three at once? What movie is all three at once?”

“That’s what I like to hear!” She couldn’t help but feel a bit sad when their hug ended. She shouldn’t since it lasted long. But she couldn’t help it! She loved being close to him. “Great!” She looked up at him and beamed. “I don’t know. Cats? I haven’t seen that but the cats in it look kinda scary. I don’t really feel like watching that though. You can pick!”

“Oh,” he repeats again. This time he couldn’t stop the way his lips twist downwards into a small frown. Flynn hadn’t expected that to be the answer. Since when did the two of them keep secrets from each other? While technically he knew it was well within her rights to not tell him about his feelings for this mysterious person, it still kind of stung knowing that she didn’t feel comfortable sharing with him something as big as potentially being in love. Not wanting to seem jealous, he nodded his head once and let the conversation drop - no longer wanting to think about any of this. “Well why don’t we go watch a movie or something instead then? Pascals out for the night so we can use the living room.”

“You better turn that frown upside down, mister! Why so frowny all of a sudden? she said, trying to lighten the mood a bit. She hadn’t meant to make things turn so somber. She let out a small sigh. She really had missed her shot. “A movie sounds nice.” Part of her wanted to run and avoid him and forget this whole conversation ever happened but the part that cared about him wanted to spend time with him. “What movie were you thinking? A funny one, scary one, a musical? All three at once?”

“Oh really?” he asked, biting at the inside of his cheek to keep the grin off of his face. It wasn’t that Flynn had thought she would have been in love already - in fact, he had been pretty certain that she wasn’t, considering she had never mentioned anything about it to him before - but it was still a relief to hear. But that feeling only lasts a moment until she says she thought she might be. “Oh,” he repeats in a breath, turning his head away to look to the side. “With who?” Oh gods how he prays she doesn’t say Pascal. It was going to be hard to hear no matter what name she answers with - but if it was their mutual friend, the guy Flynn currently lived with and had started to consider to be almost like a brother, that was going to be a whole nother story.

There was part of her that had been so ready to tell him the truth. To finally get all of her feelings off her chest and get rid of the weight on her shoulders. People had a right to know if you loved them, right? She took a deep breath and was ready to pour her heart out to the boy in front of her but something held her back. His words about never being in love rang in her head. “I can’t tell you. But it’s probably not who you think it is.” She bit hard down on her lip. “Actually, forget I said anything.” Princesses don’t marry kitchen boys. Maybe he was right about that. “Like I said, I’m not sure how it’s supposed to feel and you’re no help there.”
