Possessive and Controlling Starters
[Trigger Warning: possible triggers include emotional abuse, mental abuse, abuse]
“Were you looking at their butt?”
“I’m sorry but maybe I don’t like the way they were looking at you.”
“Are you flirting with them?”
“Come on they’re totally flirting with you.”
“I’m not jealous I just don’t like other people looking at you like that.”
“You were totally flirting with them.”
“Do you love me? Because if you do you’d stop talking to them.”
“You’d rather be with them wouldn’t you?”
“Are you cheating on me?”
“Please change. Everyone’s eyes are going to be on you if you look like this.”
“Do you have to flirt with every person we see?”
“Come on I’m not stupid. You don’t bat your eyelashes like that for anyone.”
“Do you have to go out alone tonight?”
“I’m not jealous…”
“I just don’t like they way they act.”
“I don’t like how they talk to you.”
“You love me not them remember.”
“I’m sorry I’m not perfect like they are.”
“You wouldn’t like it if I was flirting with everyone would you?”
“Can we please go now.”
“Get away from my girlfriend/boyfriend.”
“I swear I need to mark you so people will stop asking you out.”
“This is the fifth time today that some sleez has hit on you. I’m sorry if I seem a little irritated.”
“Are you sure you wouldn’t rather be with them than me?”
“What could they possibly give you that I can’t.”
“You know I love you but…i really want you to stop talking to them.”
The child was absolutely beautiful, near porcelain in color and his smile was natural and poised. Walking up to him the young boy pulled on the edge of Inso’s blazer three times, perfectly exact. “Father. Mother is coming for dinner. What should we eat?”
Insomnia beamed. His son was exactly as he’d hoped, raised well, and so pristine. His manners were immaculate, and he loved the boy with all of his hearts. Lifting his son into his lap, he kissed the top of his head. “What would you like to have, darling?”
“Mother enjoys red meat. Perhaps we could make sirloin and a nice glass of red wine for her. I have started developing tastebuds so I would like to try meat again.” AI smiled at his father and sat down on his lap patiently.
“You’re growing more and more every day, sweetest.” Inso carefully fixed AI’s hair that he had mussed, before nodding. “Red meat it is, little one. Would you like to help me cook it?”
“I think I would enjoy assisting you.”
“How does one cook a stake appropriately for a god. There isn’t exactly an internet article about it. The other planets don’t talk about it much either.

[Text:] So you’ve made clear.
[text] Aren’t I important to you?
Death smiled at the child before her, resting on the calm shores of her domain. “I come baring an invitation. Hades, Anubis, And Yama. Sedna didn’t want to come because her and Yama are still having some sort of tiff. -andohhowdeathbecomesher
Hela looked up from her latest diversion, a sad little sandcastle on the shore of Nastrond, and grinned. Between Mama, Step-Mama, Auntie and Death, she was spoilt for choice.
"An invitation? To what?" She asked innocently. "Are Lord Hades and Lord Anubis bringing their 'dogs'- oh, can I bring Auntie's 'dog'?"
Hela inhaled as the bright star zoomed closer, still a pinprick, but one now made with a larger needle.
"Hi..." She whispered, looking around to understand its conjunction to the others. She knew she couldn't be heard, and she didn't really know what to say, but that was her home, her old home. "Hi..."
"Thank you, frænka."
“It is nothing my child.” Death smiled kissing the top of hela’s head.

"Well, the last I saw him to speak to him, he was with my brother like usual. But then they locked my brother up and he wasn't there, so I guess he's somewhere else. He would do anything Papa asked him to, so maybe he's travelling. I think he would be here, if Life was done with him..."
She glanced up into the dull clouds that blended seemlessly into the mist.
"It would be nice to have stars."
“Say no more.” With a bit of concentration she pulled out some of her favorite galaxies and constellations. A sea of color and shadows in faded greens, purples and silvery Greys.
“There a little chaos, a little beauty, and a lot of death. It’s perfect for you my dear.”
The clouds roiled and rolled, recoiling from the sky, and Hela looked up, tipping herself over so she was laid out on the sand, gazing up at the thousand million pinpricks of light that Death was pulling forth to join them.
"It's so pretty..." She sighed, awed and overcome. It had been so long since she saw stars.
"Is Asgard there?"
“Here.” Death chuckled and pulled up the star that was Asgard closest so it would shine the brightest. This was her realm of power. The ultimate death. The death of a million years. Death loved making her stars.
“Now you always know where your home is.”
Death smiled at the child before her, resting on the calm shores of her domain. “I come baring an invitation. Hades, Anubis, And Yama. Sedna didn’t want to come because her and Yama are still having some sort of tiff. -andohhowdeathbecomesher

"I'd like that. I like having visitors... but only if it's not too much trouble; I know you're busy too..." She looked at her failed sandcastle emotionlessly.
"I can do it. I mean, it's never all that busy here any more, but it would be nice to have someone who could carry messages to Valhalla and Folkvangr?" Too many of her charges had waited for an unnatural time for partners who might have ended up in the other places.
"I think a lot of people expect it to hurt." She looked out at the gently lapping water, then inland towards the dark outline of her palace-hall, as it rose out of the curling fog. "But I like it this way. It's got 'truth' in it, sort of."
“I’m no stranger to someone who is vastly misunderstood. Send a raven to me if you ever want to talk. I always have time for my children.”
"As often as I can catch one." She nodded, turning back to her ruined sandcastle and pushing it slowly and deliberately back into the grey-white shore.
"I miss Snorri." She sighed.
“And who is this snorri?” Death asked, swirling herself a sand lounge with a flick of the wrist and relaxing on it as Hela rebuilt.
"A friend. Well, a raven, but he was a friend too." She began the laborious process of piling up the sand, digging a moat for the dull water to flow into.
"He was my Papa's friend, he saved him when he was a fledgling, and when my big brother came along, Snorri was his friend. My brother doesn't talk much, so Snorri talks for him, translates things in the way people understand. Except... well, he talks in his second language, so sometimes he says things in a round-about way because he doesn't know better."
“So where is this snorri then if not here? Or does he travel like I do?” She asked looking up into the grey sky.
“I think I want to change your stars. Would you mind if I reconjured the night sky?”
Death smiled at the child before her, resting on the calm shores of her domain. “I come baring an invitation. Hades, Anubis, And Yama. Sedna didn’t want to come because her and Yama are still having some sort of tiff. -andohhowdeathbecomesher

“Why not? The little hell hounds rarely get to play with one another. It’s in my home so I’ll make sure to conjure a big back yard. I missed all my little underworld gods and goddesses and I wanted to get together with them. You’ll have to come as you’re adult form if you want to play cards. Hades doesn’t like letting children lose.” She laughed knowing how similar in age the two were.
She squeaked with happiness, clapping her hands together, and her sandcastle slumped, forgotten. The idea of a party, with the loosely-defined-dogs and all Death's wards gathered together, sounded marvelous fun to her.
"If he doesn't like letting children lose, then wouldn't it be in my interest to come as I am?" She giggled, her father's streak in her. "But okay, I can be older. When is it?"
“Ooh you sound like your father. I expect all of my children to be perfect ladies and gentlemen so please be on your best behavior when you come.” She smiled fashioning her lavender scented invitation with a flick of her hand.
“Next Friday. Hades has been especially down with all the heatwaves midgaurd has been having. Persephone left for spring and I wanted to cheer him up.
"Of course I do." Her Papa was the Best, of course, but Death was a close second. "But I will, I promise."
She accepted the invitation with both hands, read it carefully, and slipped it into the pocket on the front of her pinafore.
"Poor Hades. Persi is so lovely, I'm not surprised he's sad..."
“So we’ll have to be extra nice to Hades while his wife is away for work. You visit them often then in the winter?” She asked as she waved her hand and crafted a replica of her extravagant manor.
"Sometimes. But it's harder in the winter. Human bodies suffer in the cold, so it can get a bit busy." Not that she minded. The uptick was normal, expected, and sometimes it meant husbands and wife's were together again by Jul.
"They come here more. One, or both, and they've got Charon to mind the place for a little while. But it's just me here after Auntie left."
“I’ll have to visit more than. Or maybe I’ll dedicate a horseman to you like I did Charon? Or would you like some help? Thanatos was a lifesaver for Hades and Persephone when I assigned him.” Death chuckled at her little joke and looked at the grey shores.
“Yours is the most like the moment you know? I wanted to give you that. People think it’s like Lucifers hell or your vahallah. But it’s a beach. With water that isn’t hot or cold. It rushes over you and you feel overwhelmed and weightless.” Odin was not a god Death liked. She looked out for the darker gods. But her children were the most special.

Closed | Tax Breaks
@andhowdeathbecomesher
Zephon spent his days in front of the screen, typing away. Today he was forging tax documents for clients, and filing heavily modified returns, when he heard a knock at the door.
He did not answer. He knew who was outside, and knew that she did not need him to open the door. He also didn’t wait for her to enter before he spoke. “What do you want? Balam isn’t here.”
“He called ahead.” Death sighed, putting away her umbrella and sitting down.
“He’ll be here soon enough. You know what day it is. Care to join us? We’re playing in actual gold this time.” She chuckled looking at the thunderstorm that was raging outside.
He swiveled to face her for just a moment before turning back to the screen. “Don’t know what day it is, actually. Tuesday I think? I’ve been holed up here for a week creating blueprints. Still trying to figure out Nikola Tesla’s death ray.”
Zephon’s fingers drummed rapidly on the desk, His other hand flying across the keyboard.
“Ok sweetie time to take a break.” Death smiled and saved his file to the cloud before killing the computer.
“Come join mama and Balam. I think you’re going a little crazy here. “
Both hands flattened across the desk as his jaw tightened. “You know I hate when you call yourself my mother. I’m not going to sit here and beg you to fix the computer like a teenager, either.” Zephon stood smoothly, straightening his clothing. “I’m going to the computer café to continue my work. Tell Balam and whatever other hooligans you’re dragging into the house that I said good luck.”
Death poured but at least he was leaving the house. “Stay for a round it’ll be fun. You work too hard. Overworking is going to kill you one day if you’re not careful.”
“Hard work never killed an angel. If Jaluha stops by, tell him I need to talk to him about that ridiculous email he sent me.” He plucked his coat from the rack, swinging it over his shoulders as he disappeared out the door.
It would only be another few minutes before the others began to return from their day jobs and hobbies. First in the door was Rabdos, one arm drenched in blood, and his long hair tied up in a bun as he stalked towards the stairs, nodding a greeting.
“Shower first. Blood makes the cards all sticky.” She chuckled. Texting one of her reapers to clean up whatever Rabdos did and to let her know if anyone was before their time.
