Alexej von Jawlensky, Woman with Wide-Brimmed Hat, 1910, oil on cardboard mounted on canvas, 75 x 65.1 cm, Private Collection. Source
I love how the hot fiery colours of Alexej von Jawlensky’s Woman with Wide-Brimmed Hat are contrasted against the cool pops of blue on the subject’s hat. In February 2008, this painting sold at the Sotheby’s Impressionist & Modern Art sale for £9,428,500.
