Learn a new language not school related.
If you want to learn a new language by yourself without going to classes this is how I do it.
Use a notebook! Write down your glossary in it. Write down grammar rules and practice the grammar. Write shorter sentences as if you are in a class.
Use apps. Many use Duolingo, also I have tried MemriseĀ which is great for vocabulary training. Apps is hard, you really have to check them out yourself, what works for me might not work for you.
Write lengthly (1 page or so) texts! I cannot stress this enough. Everyone who needs/wants to learn a new language need to know how to use it in lengthly texts and conversations. Transelate that song you have been singing for the last days, transelate your favourite song. Transelate a paragraph from that book youāre reading. Write a lengthly profile about yourself where you describe your favourite memory as detailed as you can, your hope and dreams, how you want to be and how you are.
Read lengthly (1 page or so) texts in that language! You need to practice your understanding. Read from a newspaper in that language, or find childrens books in that language at the library.
Find a language buddy! Find someone native of the language you are trying to learn and ask if they are willing to chat with you, maybe skype or any other form of communication you are comfortable with. Practice is key!
Patience!Ā
Practice! Patience! Practice! Patience!Ā Practice! Patience! Practice! Patience!Ā Practice! Patience! Practice! Patience!

Yāall joke about it, but let me tell you a story: See, back inĀ ā94 (yeah, you youngins), our sociology teacher mentioned that today was the 25th anniversary of Sesame Street. And he proceeded to tell a story.
See, he was in kindergarten when Sesame Street first aired, and he saw the first episode, live, with his classmates. He described the experience of seeing this for the first time as incredible. The entire class loved it.
The next day, however, the teacher announced that they could no longer show it, due to some people upset that it showed interracial friendships, of kids of different ethnicities playing together. Keep in mind that this show was only two years after laws banning interracial marriages were overturned.
So yeah. Theyāve been doing the right thing before many of us here were even alive.
They also handled death better than pretty much any show ever. I remember when Mr Hooper died. Well, really the actor playing him died. They could have written around it or ignored it, but they didnāt. They did a whole show about death and grief, and it was moving and completely perfect. And it pissed people off because it was a kids show and I guess some people think kid shows should be happy all the time. Sesame street is the best show. I would have said so at 5, and I still say so as a childfree 35 year old.
Childrenās media should respect the intelligence of their audience and Sesame Street wonāt flinch from that.
This is all so true, which makes it even worse that new episodes of Sesame Street are effectively behind a 6 month paywall.
Hello my darlings! Iām here again. I spent my time today trying to find a laundry service (and I failed epically) but one of my work colleagues (who is a total sweetheart) let me use hers :-) Iām now at home with my books š and a pot of black tea, finishing my share of work for the day. Talking about something else, Iām looking for someone that could do some proof reading for me. Youāll receive constantly things from me (one or two things a week), so it has to be somebody with enough time and patience. Iām a native Spanish speaker (and I speak German the whole day), so my English is not the best. But I try and I want to improve, so please, if you could help me, Iād be so grateful. If not, please reblogged so maybe somebody else can read this post and help me.
I send you hugs and kisses š (Btw, thatās me in the photo)

Day 6: Awkward Meetings
:::
Sasuke didnāt really find interest in anyone, not to mean that he wouldnāt or couldnātā¦it just meant up to this point and the foreseeable futureā¦he just didnāt care.
Things like dates, kisses and love meant nothing to him. He didnāt understand how any of it benefited him. Heād forcibly sat through countless romantic comedies and drama with a certain blonde womanā¦and the concept are still foreign and unwanted.
His roommateā¦the certain blonde woman loved love. Idiotic choice, but he didnāt get how woman studying in neuroscienceā¦
Whateverā¦this is not the point. Point isā¦she was a hopeless romantic and whenever her heart got ābrokenā they marathon so many sappy movies.
Not this weekend though⦠No, this weekend, she was going on vacation to the beach and Sasuke had the apartment alone. Studying with light classical musicā¦sounds beautiful.
Ino knocked on his door and opened it without granted permission. Sasuke looked at her with clear annoyance. She smiled, āAnyway, I hope you donāt miss me too much.ā
āYouāre in my room,ā he motioned.
Ino crossed her arms. āI know how busy you get on the weekends which is why my friend is coming to feed my fish and water my flowers.ā
āOkay,ā he continued his twenty page essay for his Physics class.
She walked inside his room and the man froze in mild discomfort. She threw her arms around him. āOne day, youāre gonna love me!ā
āGet off.ā He asked. She obeyed and waved a final goodbye. He rotated his shoulders and prayed the scent of her overwhelming perfume faded quickly.
::: :::
Hinata opened the door to Inoās apartment the next day. She hurried from her own apartment upon remembering that she was on fish and flower duty. The art major was shocked by how clean it was.
It was almost uncomfortable.
She slipped off her shoes and reviewed the text from Ino.
ā1. Feed the fishes first!ā
Hinata stopped in the hallway upon hearing the shower running. Ino told her aboutā¦Sasuke. He was clean cut, strange andā¦a bit cold. He hated people, Ino said one day. Every kind, every age. Heās weird but he saves me dinner and entertains my waysā¦so Iām attached.
She smiled and wondered if she should let her presence be known but decided against it. She would slip in and out. Hinata went in Inoās room and was greeted by the mess that represents Ino. Clothes, bright colors, a large tank of fishes and flowers everywhere.
She stepped over mountains of clothes and grabbed the fish food. āHello little guys,ā she cooed.
::: :::
Sasuke stepped out the shower. He shook dark tresses out his face and padded to the fogged up mirror. To his horror, on his once perfect clean mirror had: āRemember to feed yourself, with love Ino!ā
It was endearing but completely bothered him. Now he had to clean his mirror again.
Dark eyes rolled seeing that he did not bring his robe into the bathroom. No matter, Ino was not home. He wrapped a towel loosely around his waist and opened the door.
He was greeted with a burst of fresh, cold air. However, the woman standing in Inoās doorway with a watering pail with widened wasā¦
Her eyes widened and her entire face flooded with blood. Sasuke would have analyzed that if it had not been for the fact a stranger was in his home and that his fucking towel was at his ankles.
She squeaked and covered her eyes, ultimately dropping the pail on the floor.
Sasuke didnāt know what to do in these situations. Never in the three years that he and Ino shared an apartment that sheās accidentally seen him naked, however it was reverseānot important right now. They both reached down for their fallen objects.
āIā¦I am s-so ā I am⦠Iā Iām Hinata!ā She stammered, extending a paint splattered hand. Sasuke just stared at the woman. His entire genital area was just out and she wanted to shake hands? No. āI meanā¦Iām-ā she hurried down the hall.

As a nativ Spanish speaker, I think your post is amazing :-)
If you want to become a translator, or just need some side-by-side Japanese-English practice, Kodansha International's Bilingual Books Series is for you.
Most of you are probably familiar with the Japanese publisher Kodansha. Probably, not as many know about their former English language publishing house Kodansha International. Unfortunately, they had to close down in 2011, but they published a wealth of English resources and learning tools about Japan and the Japanese language. I had read some of their publications before and while doing some research came across a series Iād never heard of. Apparently Kodansha International released a series of what they called āBilingual Books.ā This series was intended to not only teach about Japan and Japanese culture, but the books were set up to have Japanese on one page and English on the other. Perfect for studying Japanese, right?
Sadly, because Kodansha International is no more, I had to do some digging through Amazon to find even a few. There was an upside though: because they are out of print, theyāre pretty cheap. One of them was only a penny.
