Andrew Murdock was a fuckboy. He was that one boy every girls parents told them to stay away from. He was loud, obnoxious and he knew no limits. He was a lost cause in so many senses that not even his parents believed he would turn out as a good guy in the end. Richard and Julienne Murdock were married on a whim, he literally swept her off her feet, presented her a world full of magic and wonders that soon she realized were nothing but just a vein to what was truly hidden inside.
Andrew was born on a broken home. With parents that who hated each other more than they loved each other, the first memories he had of a family were of destruction. With a father who was unable to keep it in his pants and a mother that would rather close her eyes and carry on with whatever was happening around her, Andrew was left to be raised by strangers, learning from a very early age what a man was like and what one shouldnât do. He saw his father break his motherâs heart and spirit, ruin a marriage by just putting his own necessities before everyone else. Force them to go through a nasty divorce as he cheated, lied and run away from all of his responsibilities always claiming that he had better things to do than to play house.
At the age of five Andrew had his âhappyâ life taking away from him as his mother packed their bags and moved the now family of two back to her hometown in San Francisco, CA. Andrew didnât take the change with and open heart, still incredibly bitter by the separation of his parents, the young boy couldnât understand what was going on with his family nurturing a rebellious attitude and hatred through the ones that gave him life. He couldnât stand his father and never approved of his choices distancing himself from the man every opportunity he got. Eventually his mother remarried again, starting a new family of her own, giving Andrew a second chance of having a normal family life, a chance that he didnât take.
During his high school years, Andrew was probably that kid that either slept with your mom or couldâve slept with her. He was loud, he was guarded and he loved the attention. He learned from an young age that his sense of humor was his best trade, using it as a way to mask away who he truly was. He played the popular kid that used got in trouble for his attitude and tried to sleep around with everyone role, not caring if feelings were hurt or even bothering to have any meaningful relationship with someone. But as good as it was his days of glory, high school came to an end, and when choosing where to go next, Michigan was the farthest he could think of to be as far away as possible from his parents.
In college things werenât all that different in the end. He became the president of his Fraternity, he was the highlight of the swimming team and his grades were good. He was still the center of the attention and was getting all the girls he could dream of, still not attached, still living day by day, until one day it all changed. Andrew met his partner, a girl that couldnât be more different than he was if she tried. She drove him crazy, she didnât take his bullshit and was the first person actually able to see through all the facade he carried around. For the first time in his life he was in love and he changed for her. They planned a future together and he could see it all work, until one day Andrew found out that his girlfriend was trading the chance of an amazing career for him, she was picking their love story over something bigger than her. Andrew found out he was holding her back and deciding he wouldnât commit the same mistakes he saw his parents doing, he called things off on their graduation day, breaking his heart into pieces as he walked away and moved back home.
Itâs been ten years since he came back to San Francisco, and although a lot of things have changed, Andrew still had to let go of some things from his past and learn how to open up to people once more.
