[Tessa glances back and nods. She figured most people were going to have to adjust from sleeping in a nice bed to being back on the floor. It wasn’t helping her back or her sore muscles, but it couldn’t much be helped.] I was just taking a walk around. Making sure everything’s good. Thought I heard something, but it was just you, I guess. [She says with a shrug.]

[Tessa said as she kept patrolling around the small area that he and she now inhabited. She looked worn out. Not that most people in the group didn't look that way, but she just looked weary in comparison. Andy took it as a sign of comfort. Some of the people in the group didn't even seem human, with the way they pushed themselves. He hadn't even had a chance to catch up with Kris and talk with her since the shed incident.] "Yeah, I think I heard you too, when I was coming in. Were you shuffling around in the dark looking for something?"

[Tessa lowered the gun slightly and nodded.] Tessa. [She told him before looking back over her shoulder and continuing to walk.] What are you doing back here? [She asked, shining the light along the ground a bit so she knew where and what she was walking on. She was edgy and her mood was swinging back and forth like the pendulum on a ticking clock.]

[Andy heard the young woman identify herself as Tessa as she lowered her gun and the light from his eyes. Oh great, her. He remembered their first meeting and how on edge he had been the entire time. She started to walk away and asked him what he was doing back here.] "Just looking for some bedding supplies for my little sleeping area that I'm setting up. The place seems pretty picked over but I managed to find a good blanket it seems." [He gestured with the blanket as he said this.] "What about you? Same?"

[Tessa was wandering through the abandoned department store. There were broken dishes on the floor and the display beds were rumpled like they had been slept in. Moving closer to the back, towards on of the barricaded entrances, she thinks she hears something move further in the darkness. Moving fast, with Reaper in her hands, she heads towards the noise but nothing is there. For a moment she just turns and looks around. Even with the flashlight taped to the top of her chainsaw gun, she doesn’t see anything or anyone who made that strange noise. Like something was breaking. It’s just one more unsettling thought to add on to the others she’s trying not to think about. Like the people who were gone, the people who might not come back, and a new little person who might show up a few months from now. She’s still not certain. There’s a test in the inside pocket of her jacket, and even thought she feels like she has to pee every hour on the hour, she still hadn’t taken it.

When she hears footsteps she raises her gun only to provide her light to see who was coming towards her.] Who’s there?

[Andy decided that he wanted a mattress for his nest, so he decided to head over to the Department Store to see if there was any bedding material left. When he reached the bedding department, he saw that the beds had already been rummaged through. There were some display models that still had all of the covers on them, but Andy didn't feel like taking all of it off just to move the mattress. He did however find a soft red blanket strewn on the floor. He picked it up and wrapped it around his upper body. Just then he heard something rustle in the dark at the back of the store. He approached but heard something else, something...breaking? What could it be? It was then that a light was suddenly on him and Andy heard someone demand] "Who's there?" [The speaker sounded female but he couldn't see her over the light that was now in his eyes.] "Uh, it's me, Andy? Who is this?" [he replied, hoping that it was one of the group members.]

[Evie has escaped for a moment to check out Claire’s, searching it before somebody claims the store. She’s grabbed some hair ties and some other bits and pieces that she’s sorely needed for quite sometime before stopping at the rack of headbands. It’ll be nice to have something to keep her hair out of her face, but she’s not sure which one to get. She doesn’t want anything too fancy but at the same time she wants to look nice. In the end she’s left standing there for quite some time, occasionally picking up and trying on a band before putting it back where it was]

[Upon entering Staunton Mall, Andy begins walking through the mall, trying to find a place to settle down and begin fortifying. He's still not entirely back to his full self after the incident in the shed with Kris, but he's ready to start work on making further fortifications to the mall, at least to keep his mind off the horrors that hunted them. As he walked into a Claire's, you could still see most of the sign, he began to inspect and evaluate it's defensive value. As he rounded a rack of hair ties, he saw a little girl trying some headbands on. He recognized her from the group's milling around, but had never really been introduced. He thought about leaving her alone to look for accessories, but as he turned around he accidentally knocked several of the ties off the rack and scrambled to try to catch them before they hit the floor. He looked sheepishly up as a bunch hit the ground and quickly raised his hand waved it.] "Umm hi, Sorry about that."

[Rabbit’s pacing his room, restless and now reconsidering his resolution to join a group, especially a group that seemed to be doing nothing for the past few days. Ever since that Wesley guy brought him back, he’s been doing pretty much nothing aside from figuring out a layout of where they were. Rabbit never liked to be caught unaware, especially in his surroundings. He’s spinning Duke around effortlessly, about to go out and find something to eat when his door opens. He continues spinning Duke but turns, arm out in annoyance.] Don’t people know how to knock?

"Don't people know how to knock?" [said an uncomfortably attractive guy as Andy entered the presumably empty room.] "Oh, geez, sorry man. I didn't know anyone was in here. I was just looking for a place to crash." [Andy didn't recognize this guy, but to be fair, he hadn't met too many people in the group yet anyway.] "Umm I'm Andy, are you with the group here?"

The Aftermath

[Andy had remained in the room that he had claimed as his own. He had been here for several days, only exiting to eat. The experience that he had been through with Kris had been traumatizing to say the least, and he had needed to try and process what exactly had happened. He hadn't done a very good job of that. The first night after, when he had gotten back to the hotel and collapsed from an exhaustion that only near death survivors knew, they had started. Nightmares, about his time in the shed, and that disembodied voice, singing.] "Alice and Andrew, locked in a shed. Not gonna stop until they're dead." [And then something had come for them. Something with Black tattoos all over it. 'Wait...Alice?' he had wondered the next morning if that had been right. He hadn't gotten a look at his companion in the dream, but he'd assumed it was Kris after he woke up. But at the time, it didn't feel like Kris. All of this weighed heavy on his mind as he readied himself to patrol the halls, just to keep him busy, as his mind continued to try and unravel the secrets of his dream.]

Umm just that it offers a lot of options. It has a lot of different uses than just combat, which is good I guess.

Imaginary Enemy || Kris & Andy

Kris’s eyes dart around wildly, but not because she’s afraid, but more because she’s trying to see if there’s any sort of source to chaos surrounding the two of them. But as far as she can see it’s nothing but darkness and cluttered projects, some of which were starting to fall over and clatter against the floor the more  violent the pounding and slamming grew. For a second Kris almost swears she sees the walls bend and she instinctively ducks her head, thinking that the walls would collapse and the ceiling would drop down on them any second now.

"Shit!" Kris curses, she turns to face Andy just in time to see him raise his gun and swing it about wildly, terror in his eyes. Before she can call out his name, he’s firing into the darkness. The loud noise makes her flinch and again memories of Mahanoy and that first hotel room she set foot in after Katie had died fill her mind. She remembers what it’s like to feel trapped and scared and to want to shoot the monsters away when there’s nothing there to shoot out. Sometimes fear was a good thing, it helped people stay alert but this kind of fear was different. It was toxic and meant to tear you apart and that just what that the demon wants. It wants to play with them, weaken them and laugh as it watches them crumble. But Kris won’t give it the satisfaction. The things that the demon did, did in fact served to scare her, but that fear turned to anger and a transferred into that driving force that kept her going and kept her wanting to protect the group. 

"ANDY! STOP!" Kris shouts as she quickly wraps her arms around his, her eyes glowing red as she restrains him long enough to wrench the gun from his grip, because the last thing they needed was one of them getting accidentally shot.

"Look at me!" she orders, turning the gun’s safety back on  before stuffing the gun into the back of her jeans. Kris takes him by the wrist and forces him to look at her and not at the way the walls bend and bow with every strike that comes from the outside. "It’s just fucking with us! " Kris shouts over the maniacal laughter that echoes through the space. "And shooting isn’t gonna help!" You couldn’t shoot what you couldn’t see after all. Unless there were enemies on the outside in which case they had to get ready for a fight. "C’mon! We’re getting out!" Kris shouts before she’s roughly shoving her way through the workshop, still holding on tightly to Andy’s wrist.

[Andy's finger was still flexing, trying to pull the trigger against his unseen enemy, before he realized that Kris was restraining him. He could hear her shouting something but was in too great a shock to register what before she wrenched the gun from his grip. She then grabs him and forces Andy to face her, and now he can hear what she's saying.] "Look at me!" [she's yelling.] "It's just fucking with us! And shooting isn't gonna help! C'mon! We're getting out!"

[She begins pulling Andy by the wrist, in the direction that he really hopes the door is in. The banging and the evil sounds of the voice continued, but Andy felt a little more secure and in control now. After barreling through piles of scrap, they made it back to the door. The walls around it were all bending inward with each hit from outside, but the door itself seemed pretty sturdy and didn't seem to be affected by the blows. Andy slid his wrist out of Kris's hold and asked] "What should we do? Just break it down and make a run for it past whatever's out there?" [He was still terrified of what could happen, but he would much rather take his chances outside where he could at least run, rather than remain trapped in here with whatever that thing is.

Imaginary Enemy || Kris & Andy

Of all the times for her flashlight to go ahead and crap out on her it had to be now. It had it be when she and the new guy were exploring the creepy shed out back. Still, she doesn’t let that deter her in the slightest and she moves forward. Her hand hovers over her gun, knowing full well that she can’t unsheathe her sword in this cramped of a space. Well, she could but she’d struggle, probably bang against the ceiling and probably wind up hitting Andy who was sticking close to her like she she asked. 

The two of them slowly make their way through the cluttered workshop. Every now and again, Kris bumps against something and she utters a curse or groan before she continues onward moving deeper and deeper inside the shed. Slowly, Kris eyes start to adjust to the darkness before her and off in the back she can see a wall of tools and gardening supplies just ready to be taken.  She’s about to step forward and get ready to grab them when Andy bumps into something.

"It’s oka-" Kris mutters until an even louder bang cuts her off and suddenly the light from the outside gets cut off and entraps them in darkness. The sound makes Kris jump and immediately her scarred hands go for the gun strapped to her thigh. The doors had slammed shut on them, "What the fuck…?"

That was way too loud for it to be wind. For a moment all she can think about is Mahanoy. About how the doors slammed on them, trapping them inside for three days and how in those days her worst nightmares came to life in her own mind and made her snap. There’s a slight fear that it’ll happen again, but Kris bites down. She won’t let it happen again. She’s lived it once and once was fucking enough. That nightmare was over, she lived through it and she was fine now and she was stronger.

There’s another thud, coming from the left and Kris’s looks quickly in that direction, as if she expected to see the enemy staring her  in the face, but nothing but unfinished projects are there to greet her. There’s another thud, and then another and each time it comes it gets louder and louder and comes more frequently until the it feels like the entire shed is shaking and ready to cave in on them at any moment. “Mother fucker, what is out there!?” Kris growls, fear turning to anger because unlike Andy she knows that they’re being hunted. Was that demon bitch coming after her now?

Suddenly amongst the chaos comes a bone chilling, sing-songy voice that echoes over everything else. The voice bounces off the wall and reverberates through every bone in Kris’s body as she listens.

“Krissy and Andrew, locked in a shed. Not gonna stop until they’re dead.”

The voice sings and taunts before it’s joyfully shrieking at the trapped pair.

[Andy's heart is pounding now in fear and adrenaline. The bang from the door slamming shut had been enough to get it started, but now there was a loud thumping coming from all around them, impossible to pinpoint exactly, but terrifying nonetheless. He could hear Kris shout something, but it was difficult to hear exactly what, over the pounding. And then he heard it. Perfectly clear, it seemed to infect his whole body with it's words and rhythm, and it was as if someone had injected ice water into his veins. Andy couldn't think, he could only hear the song as it began to repeat.] "Krissy and Andrew, locked in a shed. Not gonna stop until they're dead."

[He didn't know what to do. His eyes began to dart around the shed, trying desperately to pinpoint the source of the song, but failing. Every instinct in his body was screaming at him to run and hide, but there was nowhere. They were trapped in a shed with only God know's what. And it sounded like it was hunting them. He began to try and imagine what it was. A monster? A ghost? He realized that he didn't care, what it was really. He just wanted to get out of there. But he didn't know where the door was. He didn't even know that outside was safe anymore. For all he knew, they could be surrounded by zombies and that was causing the banging. His gun is raised now, and it's swinging wildly as Andy spins around, looking for a target, something he could shoot to just make it stop.]

[He think's he's caught it now. He hears a little thump out of place with the others and turns and fires where he thought it came from. But there is nothing, at least nothing that he can see. He thinks he hears it again, on the other side of the shed, and turns and fires, but again, there is nothing.] "WHERE ARE YOU, YOU BASTARD!?" [Terror fills his voice and he is shaking now. This is the most trapped he has ever felt. Before today he had always had ways to escape, plans, openings, something. But now he was out of options. And he was going to die.]

Kris gets into the van and buckles her seatbelt as Andy slips into the passenger seat beside her. She has to admit that it’s strange having someone that isn’t Rose, Charlie, Jack, Noah or Mike in the car, but it’s a minor thing in the grand scheme of things for today. “Random house Mike and I scouted out,” she says bluntly as she quickly pulls out of Inn parking of the parking lot. It wasn’t really scouting though, just a radar check and Mike drawing a map in the dirt of the houses in the area he could see. “Looks like it’s got a shed in the back. Might have some tools and other stuff we can use and bring back.” 

Somewhere in the back of her mind she hopes that the shed had some sort of fuel hidden away back there since they were running low on gas. Shit, who was she kidding, they were running low on everything. It was the whole point of heading out today. While the house isn’t all that far away, with the fog and without Mike to serve as her navigator it slows Kris’s vehicle down to a painful crawl. It seems to take an eternity before they reach their destination. Once there Kris completely ignores the designated pathway and drives over the lawn and to the back of the house, parking it smack in front of the shed. The closer the car, the easier it was for them to load things up.  

"C’mon," Kris say before quickly exiting the car and making her way towards the shed. There’s a heavy padlock, but that’s nothing to Kris whose mind is just focused on completing this run and getting Andy back safe and sound. Without a word Kris just reaches forward and tears the lock clean off with glowing red hands before she pulls the doors open. There’s nothing but inky blackness and wisps of fog to greet them. But that doesn’t really do much to phase Kris, the woman just automatically reaches into her pocket and pulls out her flashlight, flicking it on. A warm yellow pool of light casts itself on the workshop, revealing that’s pretty much maze of old projects and clutter, but she can only see that for a breif moment before her flashlight sputters out. "Mother fucker…" Kris groans as she puts it back in there pocket. Kris grabs a few blocks of wood closest to the entrance and uses it to prop the doors open before turning to Andy. "Stay close to me, alright?"

"Random house Mike and I scouted." [came Kris' response.] "Looks like it’s got a shed in the back. Might have some tools and other stuff we can use and bring back." [It was the only conversation they had on the ride over to said house, which was admittedly, very long given that the fog was so thick you could barely see five feet in front of your lights and so had to be extra careful. The whole ride, Andy just sat quietly in the passenger seat of the car. He let his mind wander and thought about a few things, like who was this Mike character? What might happen on this supply run? And different ways he could make himself useful, prove his usefulness to his new group.

As they approach the house, Kris just drives straight over the lawn and stops right in front of the shed she mentioned. Well that was one nice thing about the apocalypse, there weren't any traffic cops to stop you from doing what you wanted.] "C'mon." [Kris beckons as she exits the vehicle and begins walking towards the shed. Andy secures his gear and follows silently. When they reach the door to the shed, there's a heavy padlock in the way. Andy is about to say something about it, when Kris' hands begin to glow red and she just rips the lock away from the door.] "Damn..." [Andy mutters to himself. So she was like him then. Though maybe a little more adept at it. Kris steps into the shed and begins to shine a light around to see where what's inside but it suddenly sputters, dead. Andy hears Kris curse under her breath and then walks over to a pile of wood and metal and uses it to block the door.] "Stay close to me, alright?" [she warns as they both enter the shed. Andy begins to worry a little, given that they now have no light and are about to enter a creepy shed that's filled with the same, impenetrable fog from outside. He readies his gun and begins to move forward.

He begins to explore the front of the shed, using the little amount of light coming from the open door. He finds a lot of scrap materials and unfinished work here and there but doesn't spot any tools. He begins to move a little bit father into the shed and all of a sudden a loud banging noise and Andy's cursing, can be heard.] "Sorry, I banged my knee." [he admits sheepishly. Another loud bang follows and suddenly the shed is cast into darkness, as the door slams shut on it's own, sending the wood chunks that were holding it open, flying through the air.] "Okay, I didn't do that."

Imaginary Enemy || Kris & Andy

Kris had made the announcement about supply run few days ago and in the days following, worked with Mike and his powers to scout out different houses. There was a little bit of apprehension on her part when it came to sending so many people outat a time, but this would be more efficient than having her and their strongest go out and inspect one house, raid it and then come back and repeat the whole process again. Besides, she trusted that those were going out were more than capable of handling themselves and after a quick early morning radar check from Mike, there really shouldn’t be many problems since at that time Mike didn’t sense anything coming their way. Still, despite that, there was a sense of dread settling in the pit of Kris’s stomach. But that could very well, just be her constant worrying getting to her.

As Kris’s eyes observe the group, watching them mill about and prepare to head on out, her hands move in an almost mechanical fashion as she preps herself to follow suit. Her hands move to load her gun before holstering it and then checking her pockets for the extra clips of ammo before she moves to adjust her sword more comfortably against her back. Once that’s done it hits her that she hasn’t exactly picked out a partner. And while she did sometimes do her own version of patrol by herself along with the others during their designated time slots, this she couldn’t do this by herself. It’s then that she spots a head of blonde hair and recognizes it as one of the new guys. As much as she would prefer to take someone she knew, she might as well show the new guy the ropes, right? Also would give her a chance to see how he was at handling a gun. She hoped that it wouldn’t come to that while they were out there. 

 Andy,” Kris shouts to get his attention, “You. You’re coming with me,” she says she turns her back on him and heads towards the car, fully expecting him to catch up with her and follow.

[Andy had kind of just been milling about the lobby, not really sure what to do as he watched the others in the group prepare for a supply raid and take off. He himself had heard about the raid but hadn't been assigned to a group given that he was so new. It was while he was watching some of the other groups take off that he heard someone shout] "Andy, you. You're coming with me." [It was Kris and she looked completely prepped for battle, with a gun at her hip and a sword on her back. She continued to walk past him towards one of the cars parked outside in the fog without saying another word. As soon as Andy processed what had been said to him, he grabbed his own supplies, a backpack that he'd emptied a little, to make room for other stuff, his small hatchet that he had arrived with, and the gun that Kris had given him when he joined. He sprinted out to meet her at the car before she had a chance to take off. As he got in the car he said] "Where are we off to, Captain?" [He had to admit, he felt relieved that he got paired with Kris for something like this. She seemed completely competent and ready for anything, if the shit hit the fan out here. He was hoping he could rely on her a little for this mission and make it back with minimal fighting...]

It’s pretty darn wonderful, actually. {Holly tells him with a bright smile. She won’t get over the feeling of having clean water over her skin, washing away six months worth of dirt and grime.} You’re introducin’ yourself? That’s pretty friendly of ya, Andy. {Holly offers her hand for him to shake, ever the polite one.} I’m Holly. It’s a pleasure to meet ya.

"Well, it's nice to meet you too Holly. I have to admit, you're the first one to not shove a gun in my face during an introduction." [he laughs a little at the thought that this was an abnormal conversation in this new world.] "I just joined the group so I figured it would be helpful if I got to know more people in it, and I saw you standing here so I figured, why not? [He enjoyed the normalcy of this. When he had been alone out there for all those months, he'd always imagine that he would meet friendly people like her. That would be glad to have other humans around and offer a handshake and a smile when being introduced.] "I've kind of picked up that people around here are big on knowing what kind of Marks each other has. So what kind of Marks do you have Holly?"

{Holly jumps slightly when she hears a voice beside her. She immediately drops her hair and offers a small smile, slightly embarrassed about getting caught while staring at herself.} Hi. {She replies. It’s such a casual greeting, she’s momentarily blank on how to respond.} Uh.. Good. Good. I took a shower. {Holly mutters dumbly before laughing.} How about you?

[Andy's greeting startles the woman slightly and she jumps before turning to him. He feels bad for scaring her as that wasn't his intention, but she seems to recover okay before responding.] "Uh...Good. Good. I took a shower. How about you? [she responds, lightly laughing as she asks the question. Laughter. That wasn't something Andy had heard in a while and even then, it was only his laughter. It made him glad.] "I'm good as well. I also took a shower, it's a pretty great feeling isn't it?" [he says chuckling slightly.] "Anyway, I'm Andy, I kinda just got here so I thought that I'd introduce myself."

{After taking a very, very long shower, Holly exits her bathroom and starts loading up some seeds into her pockets. She’s not quite sure what the group needs now, but maybe going out and asking them will give her an idea for what to look for on Sunday if they go out on the raid. She stops in the middle of the lobby, catching her reflection in a cracked mirror, frowning, she holds up a lock of drying hair and frowns. She’d always remembered it to be a bit darker.}

[Having also recently showered, and feeling a little too energetic to get some rest, Andy began wandering the grounds of the hotel. As he reentered the lobby, he saw a young blonde woman viewing herself in a cracked mirror. She hadn't been one of the group members that he had met earlier, so he decided to introduce himself to his new group mate.] "Hi there." [Andy said as he approached her.] "How's it going?"

Here take this and this and you should be good to go. Don’t go chucking this one. [Kris says knowing that he won’t. She slides the empty .45 and a two clips of ammo towards, trusting that he’s not gonna start shooting the second she gives it to him. Still, her hand rests dangerously close to her own glock in case things go south. It’s not often that she supplies new comers with weapons this fast out of the gate.] Well, if you want I got list that you can read that might explain this shit better than I probably can. [Kris says with a shrug. The thought of that old list makes her think of Lydia who had originally wrote it up for her all those months ago, and  it just makes her miss her friend.]

[Andy picks up the gun. It feels heavy in his hand. He figures that if he's going to have a gun, it may as well be a big gun. Hopefully it would keep him from having to resort to his fists again. Kris then offers to show him some kind of list that might help explain Marks better to him.] "Sure, thanks. That would be great. And thanks for the gun and letting me stay. [he says. This might be the first time he'll be able to relax in, well he can't even remember how long. He places the gun in one of his pockets and the ammunition in the other and begins to gather his things. As he's leaving, he turns around one last time and says] "Thanks again. Umm if you ever need help with anything, just let me know." [He then continues down the hall, to claim a room, and hopefully, a hot shower.]

[Kris pauses as she loads up the gun to look at Andy  a bit surprised because it looks like he has no idea what the marks mean. That could only leave one of two options. One: he was on his own for the past year, which no offense to him, kinda looked hard to believe or two: memory wipe during the second blackout.] Well, if you don’t have any black, blue or white marks it means that your hands and eyes glow when you fight. You pretty much have super strength. [She says, almost mechanically. Kris isn’t even sure if she needs to add that last part since she’s pretty sure that this guy already knows and has seen his strength first hand.]

Andy suddenly flashed back to a night a couple of days after he had woken up. He had been spotted by a small group of zombies and was being chased. He had accidentally made a wrong turn down a narrow alley and was cornered. He remembered being afraid...and angry. Angry that he would have gotten himself into a mess like that. As the undead filed into the alley in single file, Andy readied himself to fight. He'd drawn his gun and fired several shots into the first one. As it went down, the second zombie crawled over it and kept coming. Andy started firing at it erratically too and watched it fall. The third one just kept coming, and without much thought, Andy threw the gun as hard as he could at it, hoping to stun the creature for a second. He remembered seeing a flash of red and then the zombie's head exploding when the gun made contact. As the last one approached, Andy barreled towards it, ready to make a last ditch attack to escape. When he hit it with his glowing (glowing?) fists, the whole thing practically fell apart and splattered the walls around him. He remembered focusing on what happened for days, trying to come up with an explanation. But in reality, he was just happy to still be alive.] "Yeah, it's come up occasionally.
