the question is asked with faux sincerity as her feet dangle from the tree branch, words teetering on taunting. she perches amongst the tallest trees at camp, peering down at him between the leaves. ( nearly everything is visible from up here – the hills and summits of faerun, the coast’s edge and rivers’ paths, the inkling of smoke from what they presume is the goblin camp. this vantage point makes her see the appeal of flight — birds might have the right idea after all. the path ahead and behind them visible and open —- and safe for now. the prior setting sun had drawn her into the canopies, tracing the sun’s movements as surely as her companions below, hoping an extra set of too - keen eyes in the night would prevent any more brutalities. hindsight jeers at her. )
she moves with swiftness across the branches, tree to tree, thin dress fabric ghosting after her in the breeze. a contemplative thought is given as she pauses, one hand against the tree trunk. “ i’ll come down if you ask nicely. or not – is the fight a preference ? ”
