Dave's First Birthday On The Meteor
Dave wandered around the meteor after not seeing Terezi, and Karkat was a bust, after remembering that they both, apparently, still had this faux hate thing going on between them since the dick book ordeal. Really, he wondered if anyone remembered what today was, for him, since it was obviously a really big day- then he remembered Rose was somewhere on the meteor. He almost smiled as his slow meandering clicked up in pace, to a nice walk, then a run as he ran up to the door to her room in the heart of the meteor, not too far from where he had left the Mayor with Terezi, who, still, was MIA.
He slowly opened the door and smiled lightly as the light flooded in, onto the purple ball of blankets on top of his sister. "Hey, Rose, it's my birthday." He was blunt with her, because after so many 'what's today?'s and 'what are you talking about?'s he really just wanted to hear 'happy birthday' from someone, and he could count on Rose, right?
He should be able to count on her for something as trivial as that right???
"Turn out the lights and shut your fucking mouth Dave, or I'll shove my needles up your rear."
...Apparently not even her.
With a silent agreement, he stepped back out and closed the door with a soft click of the locking mechanism, then walking to the edge of the meteor, flopping down and sitting Indian style as he uncpatchalogued a party hat and one of those dumb blowing things that make a high noise when you blow into them, putting on the hat and looking out at the deep abyss that flew past him, but only feeling a light wind.
"...Happy birthday to me..." Dave murmured as he put the birthday spectacle to his lips and blew, a halfhearted 'weeeeoooo' coming from the end of it as it unfurled and furled back up, eyes tearing up.
No one remembered his birthday.
