today I told my brother about my girlfriend. This is the first time I’ve come out to him. He literally didn’t care. He said “I’m happy for you” and that alone has made my life so much better. I love my brother so much.

Honestly, I’m so frustrated with Grey’s anatomy socially and pedagogically inept doctors. I understand that they are leagues away from being the teaching hospital they were in S1 and I would’ve loved for them to explore that in a smart way. I mean… Ben Warren fucked up with the pregnant lady, Alex hit Deluca over some personal issue, Leah Murphy became a way better doctor in another hospital and failed Seattle… etc, etc. And it wouldn’t even be an issue that is recent, it’s not like Catherine would come out of nowhere with the idea of a problem with the program: Way back in I don’t know which season, Owen Hunt ordered Jo to go to… Trauma, I think? because she had spent way too much hours in Peds. Then, Webber realised all the interns/resident were only following around one specific doctor (DeLuca and Arizona iirc, Edwards and Shepard, etc.) and ordered them to be mixed up.

Point is, the whole storyline is not stupid, but is being delivered so stupidly. Putting out Webber without sitting him down, telling him the issues and giving him a time period to do something was stupid. Bring in a new Chief to ANY team and making her mess with the system in such an allienating way is so stupid, like, it has been explored in every movie/tv show where teams exist. Dr. Minnick approach as “lol everyone hates change!!1!” instead of realising - for example in last week’s case with Jackson - that there are surgeries where they can let a resident operate and cases in which not is so stupid and I can’t believe she’s suppose to be a “legend”. Everyone remembers Cristina’s and Alex’s first surgeries? They were appendicitis, or ulcers or bowel resection or some simple sort of removal, they were certainly NEVER facial reconstruction!

Don’t get me started on how suddenly all these amazing doctors we have seen grow are high schoolers. Bailey went on a power trip despite the fact that all of her doctors are her friends, people renowed in their fields and most of them are head of department. What kind of leader does that? April, Arizona, Meredith, Jackson, etc being defensive of Richard is amazing and understandable, but doing it in such a childlish way instead of simply getting Minnick in their surgeries and explaining her (like Jackson , who was still stupid enough to not let even Ben SCRUB in) why they won’t let residents take over this case  which is way smarter AND would guarantee a discussion which could lead to a compromise.

Apparently the “residents” are happy with the change, but to be honest, I have yet to see Edwards scrubbing in on anything that is not Neuro, or Warren getting taught properly how to operate on pregnant ladies, or you know, Jo DO something (which is like, 90% of the reason why fandom seems to hate her, cause she “complaints” - as if Maggie didn’t have breakdowns every time she spilled her coffee -  but “doesn’t do anything”/ “is a mediocre doctor” like DUDE THIS GIRL WENT TO PRINCETON LMAO). Remember back when the core five were interns they were thrown around doing research for procedures half the time? Why not show DeLuca doing that? Remember how Derek, Burke, Owen, Mark, Richard, Bailey, Teddy, etc. were shown being teachers in their dialogue? When was the last time we saw those for Meredith, April, Jackson, Alex, Arizona, Riggs or Maggie? (Granted, the Maggie issue WAS pointed out but it’s not enough. The way Meredith once treated Jo was definetly NOT teacher material, and they made Mer tell Jo to stick up when Mer is HER TEACHER.)

Anyways, these whole plotline has been handled so poorly and in such a detrimental way to the doctors that we have seen grow that I’m honestly thinking of just quitting it. Call me back for next season lol.

I hate that coming out is like, entirely for the sake of cis&straight people. We come about because they can’t stop assuming that everyone else is cis&straight, we come out because they can’t stop being homophobic and transphobic and assuming that we are comfortable hearing it, we come out because they keep asking about why we don’t have a boyfriend yet or monitoring which bathroom we use. And then there’s the fact that cis&straight people are so invested in us coming out. They tell us it’s lying and deceptive when LGBT folks don’t come out to the point that they tell other people for us, they tell us that they “already knew” or “could tell” and brag about their gaydar or else they praise us by pretending it’s a compliment that they “never would’ve guessed”, then they go on to call us “brave” and “strong” for doing something we never should’ve had to do in the first place. And then there’s the idea that we are the ones who should feel ashamed about it and be told that they “still love us” despite the fact that it’s their hatred and bigotry that we’ve had to deal with the entire time we’ve known them and not the other way around. Coming out is the only milestone they think we have because it’s the one that they play the biggest role in and the one that they necessitate and I absolutely hate that about coming out.
