What's the difference between normal ketchup and fancy ketchup?
“Well to me ketchup is ketchup but I would think that “normal” ketchup is the one that comes in bottles and small packages you get from fast food places while the “fancy” kind is the stuff at restaurants that you can’t ask for because it’s basically telling the chef that their food is bad and then they’ll hate you.”
You do realize that someone’s entire presence could possibly be the thing that bothers you right? Like not talking to them may work but you despise being in the same room as them and can’t do anything.
“Yes... but I don’t like to think negatively like that if I can help it. Sure you can be really uncomfortable around a person and not want to see them but if you focus on other things besides them then it’s like they’re not really there isn’t?”
“You play ukulele? That’s cool. Ukulele music always seemed so soothing. Plus, don’t people say when you know how to play one string instrument, you can easily learn others? Oh… Sorry. So this place isn’t too different from back home for you? Considering you have a bunch of friends from back home and it’s mildly a beach community, to some extent.”
“I do. Maybe, I’ve played my dad’s guitar a few times but never my friend Connie’s violin but that might be because hers uses a bow to play not just my fingers. Yeah, it’s kind of the same as Beach City in some ways, like it’s bigger for one, but to me it’ll never really feel like exactly like home. It’s more of another home to me. Does that sound right?”
For the record I wouldn’t kill absolutely everyone, just the majority. Plus I never actually said it would be killing, there are other illegal methods to get people to disappear.
“I don’t really want to think of what other ways you would try to get rid of people. Making the people you don’t like doesn’t even have to be an option. If you don’t like that person not talking to them also works.”
“Oh, y’know. I basically just had my dad, a scientist, teaching me science and math. So I have a good grasp in that, but not so much english or history. I mean, all I had was me and my dad. It was just what I knew. In a way, we bonded through him teaching me everything I know. So I wouldn’t exactly change the fact I was homeschooled. I’m still glad to be here and be surrounded by all these people. Wait, did you grow up in, um… What’s it called? A tourist trap?”
“My dad taught me a bunch of stuff too but nothing like math or science. It was more along the lines of how to play my ukelele, write music, and how to make waffles. No, not really but you can think of it like that maybe. I think it’s more of a resort town. We’ve got a boardwalk and beach just like the one here but ours never turned green and hurt people. Well not from what I can remember at least so I’m gonna say no it never did.”
“Laffy Taffy’s might be smarter than I thought,” she smiled at his insistence, even though Mabel couldn’t see it. She didn’t want to talk about it anymore, anyway. Talking about Candy for a few minutes would lead to missing Candy, and Mabel’s been known to start crying when she missed people—friends, especially. “I’m gonna ask around, see if anyone’s found out about K-pop that way. Yeah, let’s have a movie night! It’ll be fun, and you can always invite some of your friends, if you want. ‘kay, I’ll get the popcorn and snacks and everything else ready. My sleepovers are world renounced for being awesome, BTW.” Mabel shook him on it, even if it was by way of greeting, “And I’m Mabel. Nice to meet you, too. I think you’re one of the nicest people I’ve met while being here.”
Steven shrugged. ‘Maybe, who really knows? I do know that they’re delicious though so there’s that.” Nodding his head he agreed. “Sure, I’ll ask around and see if anyone I know wants to join us. You don’t have to do everything yourself, I can ring somethings if you want. I’ve thrown a few before but we did mainly put the “sleep” in sleepover but that’s what we were going for so I think we did okay.” When he was younger Steven had tried multiple times to get the other kids at the boarding house to have a sort of sleepover together which ultimately ended with Steven and a few other kids sprawled out on blankets in the game room more then anything. “Thank you, you’re seem to be pretty nice yourself Mabel. Aw, come on now, everyone can be nice when they want to be.”
Shits. Giggles. Mostly shits.
In less then 24 hours, we somehow took over a gang. It was neat for a few hours, then we realized that running a gang probably wasn’t the best idea. I’m in school and Jason is one man kinda guy. We passed it off to good hands.
“Well that’s one way to put it I guess.”
“What/” Steven exclaimed. “What? So you’re telling me that you and your friend, Jason, were running a gang? Like a gang of criminals? Well I just hope that the good hangs you’re talking about are the police.”
“Oh, I actually came to America when I was five, so I already lived here. However, I was home schooled my entire life, so I wasn’t so used to actual classes, or being around so many people. The scariest part for me was probably just the sheer number of people here, but when I found my little group, things became a lot easier.”
“You were home schooled? What was that like? I would think that it could be pretty lonely but hey, at least you have a group of friends you can hang out with now. I know that feeling of being overwhelmed a bit. The town I come from there aren’t many people until tourist season begins and that’s when it starts to get busy.”
“I can’t believe you thought I was talking about, like, actual candy. How would a Nerd’s Rope get me into K-pop?” Mabel was totally serious, a little grin ghosting on her face but nothing like her normal expression. This one was more of a copycat’s of her mom’s. “Yeah, it’s really good. I think I’ve got the DVD in my dorm, we could have a movie night? It’d be Heathers, Jawbreaker and Mean Girls—those’re the most important ones, if you haven’t seen the other two. They’re all about these cliques.”
“Well a Nerd’s Rope my not but the jokes on the Laffy Taffy might, like they could say something funny about K-pop and then it gets you interested to find out more.” Steven replied. He was going to add something about the things written on the inside of the Snapple drink lids but those aren’t actually candy. “Really? That would great and no I haven’t seen those movies either---- Oh, I’m Steven by the way, nice to meet you.” He said holding out his hand to greet the girl properly.
I don’t want to see certain people at school any longer than I have to be. Well the solution to every possible problem would be to dispose of everyone but that is not legal.
“No, no it’s not and I don’t think there would be an effective way to do it. All I can say is, please, don’t try and kill everyone, everyone will be dead and then you’ll go to jail.”
Taken back by the forming tears, Bess was torn between screaming louder to further reiterate her point, or tell him it was ‘okay’ because Jesus are the water works necessary? Hearing the light change to green, she tugged him with her to cross the road quickly, making sure to watch the traffic regardless.
“You’ve gotta be careful, man. If the cars don’t hit you, the cops will for jaywalking. You’re alright, so the tears can stop now.” At least she really hoped they could.
Steven wiped at the stray tears with his free hand as the girl had a hold on his other arm and began to pull him across the street. “I’m sorry,’ Steven mumbled again as it seems like his brain had been stuck on that phrase as a default setting. “I-I’ll try to be more careful.” He added finally breaking out of his previous stupor the tears finally subsiding.
Steven never had to worry about being safe when it came to crossing the street back at Beach City. There weren’t many cars in his neighborhood until you went to the townhouses district and even then most things were in close enough distance that he could walk everywhere with no harm being done. It looks like he was finally going to have to pay attention more, Seattle certainly wasn’t like Beach City after all.

Oh yeah, those tabloids will pay for any excuse to print a shit filled story. Just give them one supposed “line of truth” and they’ll make it a front cover story. *waves it off* Eh, if it doesn’t pay- no point in bringing down the school.
A lot of things aren’t supposed to happened, but they do anyways. *shrugs* Its better to take the positive, even in the most negative situations eh?
“So you're saying that you’d be okay with telling lies about the school and everything else if the news did pay you and you wouldn’t mind ‘bringing it down’? Why would you do that?”
“Yeah it is, at least I think so too. But I still don’t understand what good memories you would have of jail.“
“Oh, so you came here with your friends from back home? That’s so cool! It must have made coming here much less daunting. I just met all my friends here, and we live all over. Funny enough, three of us have lived in France at some point in our lives.”
“Kinda, they all got here a couple years before me so at least they got to tell me what to expect but it was still scary having to leave home to come here. Were you scared having to come to a whole ‘nother country to come to school?”

when u were little where did u think babies came from?
“Well when I was little everyone I asked would almost always tell me something different so I just thought that every baby comes to be was different for each one and that there were always really cool adventures to be done in order to get to them like fighting dragons and summoning magical creatures and what not. But then I learned the real way babies were made and it’s kind, ehh——. To say the least I like my ideas better.”
