Learning English
Raised in a compound were men wore overalls, women overalls too. A farm, a Nkosana was respected as King. I loved the way he spoke, I never understood Him. He owned the compound, at some point he owned me. He owned the flowers and the birds, at some point he owned mama. It was 1995. South Africa was freed in 1994. The teachers taught me how to speak like a Nkosana. I would become a Nkosazana. This language had mystical powers. It would save mama from the compound.

You don’t love people at their best, sweetheart. You just love them because you can’t help it.

Weird Things I’ve Written, Completely Out of Context:
“I wanted to fling myself across the bed and sob, like a princess in a Disney film.”
Ms Andi's Essays turned 1 today!
2016, I really want to learn to let go of things. I also want to learn how to hold onto people.
I won’t hold back. (via jwjb)
Noise
If my dreams should carry me, let them whisper to me first, so that I am ready. the grandeur of the dreams overwhelm me, if they should carry me, let them send a warning in advance, lest I lose myself in the noise, lest I lose myself in the façade, if they should carry me, let them be honest with me, tell me that my greatness is not my own, it is merely a reflection of who God Is. if they should carry me, they should tell me, that my ego only suffocates the dream, lest I forget who I am. Otherwise it is not worth it. let me sit here at His feet until I am brave, to be who I was called to be, without being mired by the noise.
"Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?"
Esther 4:14
Symptoms of affection
We should all inhabit, symptoms of affection, convert stereotypes and honour, whatever that which is beautiful. We should use complexities to encourage, not to instil fear but to promote light, we should aim to love, never to evoke ratchet debates, but to always have love as the originator of our ideals. You should inhabit symptoms of a conversant persona, awake to current affairs, so that you know what to pray for, because when you’re done staring at yourself, children are still dying in man-made wars all around us, we should move away from conceited ambitions, especially if we call ourselves soldiers for Christ. It is possible to believe in your dreams without arrogance, it is possible to fight for your dreams without competing, it is possible to celebrate with others even when your turn hasn’t come. It is possible to be relevant without any material things to show, In the end a Porsche Cayenne or Jeep Evoque is nothing but smoke, Riding in the same fields as a Toyato Tazz. It is possible to readjust our thinking, to believe in our dreams again and to fight for them, without offending or abusing our platforms.

And so we want fame, masquerading as saints… practise the poise neglect the soul with the aim to become the best. so through our failed attempts, rude behaviour becomes cool, spitting bile on loved ones is bravery? congratulations you are one step closer, to becoming famous. love so far removed, that it cascades down our backs, as water would on a duck’s back. waiting for voices to shout our names, longing for handsome humans to know us… on a first name basis. Have we forgotten that Lucifer’s fall was therein in himself fault was found? praise was never for us to consume, too much of it would in fact consume us?
Jesus died not for us to be praised, but for He that created us to be praised. a little too much on a Thursday afternoon? and yet we have secret sins, only known by our corrupt minds, yet He that beginneth all things knows them still, loves us still. are we even worthy? and even then he loves us and calls us righteous still… don’t you believe He deserves all our Praise?
An artist’s mind...
“You can never understand, because you were born perfect…and I...I was born like this…an artist” - Zewande Bhengu.
Artists. We are born dreaming, thinking, overthinking, sometimes isolated, pain never cripples us but it wounds us (it sounds the same but it isn't), wounds propel us to scrape our brains lookin for an answer. If you are an artist you know this, sometimes we don't have many words flowing through our lips but it is flowing all over our minds.
We speak louder in platforms we choose to use; the platforms know us by name. For truth seeps through the pores of our skin when we are one with them.
Sometimes we are out of words when the people we love hurt us. We go back to our little corner and pretend we love solitude until solitude starts to love us. It becomes a friend, a friend you can rely on, a friend that will never leave and a friend that will never treat you less than you deserve. But such a friend is a delusion, we all know that. That our Maker’s intention was never for us to befriend solitude. And yet, the life we live-in is so insecure. People lie to God every day; people promise their sons the moon, knowing very well that the moon, well the moon is farfetched. People go on their knees making derailed promises to God, people boast about “blessings” rather people boast about material things. What determines success? That is a story for another day.
One thing remains for sure, love remains. There is something peculiar and warm about a heart that is engulfed with love. A heart like heaven!
With that said, Forget about people that don’t appreciate your work. The entire world is just dying to meet you!
Love your art, respect your art. God gave it to you to use, so use it.
