Le Life Update
I've gotten out of the habit of blogging about my life. Because we now live in an era of Personal Privacy Hell, I thought I could count that as a win, but I realize I've been feeling more disconnected from my internet buddies, so clearly, the lazy habit is not serving me.
So, LATELY
I'm on Year #2 of being married. Loving it.
I'm old enough now that while I don't have any major medical problems my self, my rl friends are all dealing with SOMETHING left and right, and it's making me nervous.
I'm still self-employed, but now in 2 lines of work. Dealing with a bit of a seasonal lull in both at the moment, but I'm trying to enjoy the time off.
Hobby-wise,
I've got a few doodles, but very few of them have felt quite finished enough to post, so I've mostly been putting them in discord communities.
I'm stuck in my current fic WIP, which is Tim/Cassie. It's very frustrating, bc once I finish the fic, it will the the LAST STORY in the T/C typeset I'm working on and then the typeset will also be complete.
I've been working on book binding. So far,
- 6 complete typesets (4 SW, 1 Miraculous Ladybug, 1 SpyxFam) - 3 ALMOST complete typesets (1 SW, 1 DC, 1 original work) - 3 finished, bound books (1 ML for a friend, and 2 star wars) - 2 almost finished bound books (1 star wars, 1 spyxfam)
I want to put up blog posts about my typesets, but I haven't figured out how I want to go about it yet. I want to get author permission, and after, I'm tempted to just have them available for download somehow, but I know that can be a bit of a risk.
There have been cases of fandom outsiders downloading and then trying to sell copies (Illegal! Dangerous! Never do this with fic!).
On the other hand, I feel like the people who do this are mostly poking around for Harry Potter fic, and I think my typesets would be far enough outside their realm of interest that risk is low. IDK.
If anybody's got additional food for thought on those topics, lemme know.

Wonder girl and the boy wonder
You mentioned be widely read in Cassie stuff, so I was thinking: I haven’t read much of JT Krull’s run. Is there anything about it that stands out to you?
I think he really understood cassie's way of leadership & her interactions with others for sure, esp during the short bit w Damian there. I think its only failings come from him getting just the tail end and having to tie up all 80 something issues before him yknow? like tim taking over again as leader didnt read as "cassie is incompetent" but "this is how it started so ig its how it has to end"
His wonder girl 2011 one-shot though is BEAUTIFUL. He let cassie be angry and bothered but also made sure to show off her skills as a damn good hero separate from her emotions. the ending w helena is just always so cute. I think if he'd had more time on this run it really couldve turned the whole thing around.
plus, he gave me two of my favorite cassie moments of all time:
Cool! I have read the issue where Tim returns. I kind of took him taking back the leadership mantle like this:
He and Cassie were kind of sharing that mantle before he left. Then--with Cassie's okay--he left her to deal with the team alone for months. So when he comes back, it makes sense that he leads for a bit bc Cassie's has earned a break. By a lot.
But Kon and Bart missed the forming of that entire dynamic, so they don't get what's happening and are just like, "Oh! Tim's leader by default. Of course!"
And Tim's like "No? Cassie, if people are doubting your leadership skills, I can support you by stepping dow--"
And Cassie's like "No. I am TIRED. Just do the thing. We'll sort out people's assumptions later."
(I cannot find the issue, so I'm using my memories and probably projecting a bit.)
Bc... the Leader Mantle is heavy. I'm not sure Kon and Bart had proper time to register the fact that he roster had switched from the core four being the junior members of the team (semi-mentored by Kory, Vic, Gar, and Raven) to the senior members of the team (tasked with setting good examples for Ravager, Kid Devil, and others.).
It was never an easy job, but by the time Kon and Bart come back, it's gotten much harder, to the point where Tim and Cassie didn't really consider it a one-person job anymore. It just got that treatment bc they were so fragging under-staffed.

Thinking about Tim and Cassie as narrative reflections of each other -- about how they both started out as normal kids with no obligation to their mentors, good kids who just wanted to help, and how gradually, bit by bit, that choice they made as thirteen-year-olds lowkey ruined any chance they had for a normal life
Computer. Iris by the goo goo dolls. Loud enough to kill.
The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it
lost that little r2 unit :T

Ngl, one of the things that got me at the end of Epic was the way the loving reunion between sunshine kid Telemachus and Murder Machine Mode Odysseus paralleled the Luke and Vader dynamic I love so much.
PENELOPE PACT AU🫵🤨(cuz it's hilarious)
What if it was Telemachus who proposed an idea to his mom's suitors?
The pact thing Odysseus did(aka the oath of Tyndareus)
Y'know...
Like father, like son kinda thing.
(antinous' imagination)
(end of antinous' imagination)
And what if...
Hear me out.
What if, instead of disguising himself as a beggar...
Odysseus disguised himself as this charming noble from a faraway kingdom he definitely made up, and WOOED his own wife?
And Penelope DID get got (allegedly).
And the name of the made-up country is...
LMAOOOO, it's the island of Ithacatotheleft...ia.
Best part is, Pene knows, and she just plays along, while Ody thinks his rizz is so good he's making his wife fall in love with him all over again.
So, since Penelope chose not-Odysseus, or whom he calls himself, Nobodysseus...
The rest of the suitors have to honor the pact Telemachus proposed, and they can just be mad in the corner.
P.S. Telemachus has zero clue that "Lord Nobodysseus" is actually his dad.
