I think Finn has so much untapped potential he just needs to work with the write people (or write the roles for himself) to do it! I saw in a recent interview he actually did audition from George Harrison in the Beatles biopic (but Joseph Quinn got it). I think his upcoming Matt Johnson film will be sooo good I’m not sure if you’ve seen any of Matt’s projects but I think him and Finn will be great together. I think crash land is very different from any Finn role we’ve seen and I hope it comes out soon!

oh finn has sooo much potential. I feel like now that he’s finally out of ST jail we’re gonna see a lot of great stuff from him because it gives him time to really work with new directors and writers. Admittedly, I haven’t seen any of Matt Johnsons stuff-I’ve been meaning to watch ntbtstm but I’m trying to do like a personal movie challenge that I won’t get into here cuz nobody cares fr-but I have no doubt that it’ll probably be something great, and I’m super excited to see crash land when it comes out.

I definitely wasn’t someone who thought about wheelclair at all until season 5. mainly because I’m not into shipping…weirdly. I mean I am now but before not at all. But idk I think Mike and Lucas would be so cute together.

Imagine being so salty to the canon couple instead of being salty with the writers who ruined Will character by being making him such a pick me, who would openly flirt with his adoptive sister's boyfriend and never giving him a better arc or love interest. Or how they handle his sexuality and how his outing scene was humiliating and awful but Mike/Mileven isn't to blame. Byler was never going to be canon because the writers never intended for Mike to be queer and that's okay. Mileven was the main couple since the first season. Just because you all Bylers thought you saw something doesn't mean the writers need to change the canon couple just to please a few fans. Mike did treated Will right too. Just because he had a crush on Mike, doesn't mean had to like him back. And he was a good friend to him and when he went missing he did everything in his power to find him. They all did. He also didn't acted like a bad friend when he came out.

I rolled my eyes at this btw. She actively chose to go rescue him from the Upside Down before she even knew him. She was off with her sister and still decided to go back to save Hawkins and Will. She could've left them to die. She blew out her powers saving them again in S3, she made the concious choice to go back to the lab again in S4. And she literally died to ensure they got to live.

And you're saying that holds less weight because it's expected of her. Will is nice. So is everyone else he doesn't get a fucking medal for being a nice person.

She died for him. That's the most selfless thing you can do. But Wiw was nice so who cares. Yall piss me clean off with your thinking

They always find a way to bring up Noah into mix, I need Noah to announce a project so his fans and some of the parasocial people have something else to talk about for real.

Also it’s kind of weird when fans and general public make a jokes about the whole he has so much chemistry with these men (beyond Jack and Billy - I wouldn’t go that far, I fear) also that kind of puts him into a box, why would someone want their supposed favorite actor/musician be a typecast?? And from interviews that either came out now and around s5 it seems he’s tired of it and wants to branch out more, and idk the projections from fictional characters that were portrayed to the fans taking it so literally and applying that to his the reality and speculating about his sexuality - what does that have to do with his job?? 😬 this is also bit performative especially seeing this exact same thing happening simultaneously in bunch of different fandoms..

But yeah, I think it’s really strange the way fans try to push finn into a box that he 1-doesn’t fit into and 2-is actively trying to get out of. Like Finn has wrote and directed a movie and gave himself a character that’s so different from anything else he’s played, I’m assuming his next movie will be similar. Not to mention all the movies he’s done already that are a staunch pivot from this made up perception fans have of him but fans refuse to acknowledge those projects.

Honestly, I think it’s a lot of fetishization. Because yes, Finn has chemistry with his friends and coworkers; that’s how having friends and coworkers works (shocker, i know. A lot of these people clearly don’t have friends). But that doesn’t mean we need to speculate on Finns sexuality. Like I wouldn’t be surprised if Finn said he was bi or popped out with a boyfriend but also like…I just don’t think about it. I can’t imagine caring so much about someone I don’t knows sexuality. Honestly, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: It wouldn’t surprise me if Finn pivoted from acting and just started directing. he’s clearly passionate about it and it seems like no matter what, as long as he’s public facing he’s not going to be able to escape these weird insistent fans.

So idk if anyone else has noticed this within Finn’s fandom. But as a Black fan who is the same age as him and has liked him for almost a decade I can’t help but notice how his predominantly white fanbase erases a lot of his character relationships with Black women. Literally other than El (and outside of It and the goldfinch), all of his characters who have had love interests have been with Black women! But I can’t help but notice how his fans will dismiss an obvious relationship or crush and say “hmm actually no that character is queer”. With hell of a summer for example, we find out from the beginning of the movie that he has a crush on Shannon and she likes him, they kiss and do stuff together right? His fans swear up and down his character Chris and Bobby (Billy’s character) secretly have crushes on each other. I’m like have yall not seen how two white boys act towards one another (or the fact that Bobby is actively trying to impress girls throughout the movie)?! Then with when you finish saving the world, Finn’s character ziggy is trying to impress Lila (Alisha Boe’s character), and constantly having to pick his jaw off the floor because of his obvious crush on her, and yet they will say “well in the audiobook he mentions having a boyfriend in the past”. Then they don’t even gaf about Trevor from ghostbusters because he literally can’t fulfill their fantasies cause he only cares about Lucky in both movies. Like it’s minor but I notice how they erase those character relationships so that Finn can continue to fit the stereotype they have for him. And when you correct them about said characters they get upset lol. It’s also frustrating because if you ever defend him they’re like “he’s not gonna fck you” ok cool that wasn’t goal, but it seems like they use certain mlm relationships as self inserts for themself or they don’t want to see him/his characters with other women (including El) so they’ll ship him with a white boy because in the end all they want to see is two white boys kiss. This also correlates to how often they dismiss Wheelclair, they have the closest relationship we find this out in s1, they have so many good scenes together and good chemistry. Caleb even said wheelclair is underrated and so is their irl relationship 🤔yet people want to say you can’t ship wheelclair because it isn’t logical hmm interesting, that’s all!

Btw: I’m not saying we need to be praising Finn solely bc a handful of his characters are with Black women, just pointing out how his fanbase erases those relationships! Bc if it were timothee or Jacob elordi having characters like this, the people would be drooling. I literally saw a clip of Jacob hugging chase Infiniti and people were shipping them yet if that were Finn they would somehow bring up n*ah 🫩. It’s just interesting how Finn’s fanbase is completely different, hopefully he can a more mature one as the years come.

That being said, you’re 100% correct. I mean, Finn clearly has no issue with having Black women as his love interest. He literally wrote and directed Hell of a Summer and chose to cast a black love interest. thats not to act like he’s some saint for it but its a choice he made when objectively he didn’t have to. And yet for some reason all his black love interests get sidelined. Reddie/Mileven/b*ler/the goldfinch are all worlds more popular than any ships containing black women (hoas/ghostbusters/wyfstw). Being Black in fandom is so difficult and you would think with how much Finn genuinely does surround himself with black people, this fandom wouldn’t be so exclusionary.

And I could understand if this was all young boys focusing on his queer characters for representation but the primary audience I’m seeing do this is straight white girls. (yes, that was a generalization. Don’t give me any bean soup comments). You just know if his love interests in these movies were white girls they would eat it up. There’s this strange mix of Misogynoir and fetishization that is so prevalent in fandom and it’s exhausting.
