well just saying like is hollowlace ever censored bc like lace is in this ship and why wouldn't hollowlace get censored but lacenet is like what?
I've only gotten a few hate comments on my hollowlace stuff, usually because they're like 'technically related' but that's already been disproven on so many levels so i don't consider it relevant (definitely not as many hate comments as I would've gotten on any lacenet) and I think this is for one of two reasons:
1: Thk and lace never really interact, meaning people can't use the argument 'thk sees lace as a child'
and the second, and reasons I believe to be the main culprit:
Homophobia.
I know this might sound a bit absurd, but please hear me out
Despite the fact that the silksong and hollow knight games are very, very much progressive in their representation and 'woke' , having multiple canonically queer characters serving large roles in the plot as well is many important genderless characters- not to mention the overarching themes against oppressive powers, colonization and religion. But somehow, there's still a very large portion of the fanbase that is extremely conservative, homophobic/ transphobic, and oftentimes just downright misogynistic.
(Keep in mind a very large portion of my fanbase as a hollow knight creator is male, so just some food for though...)
And because of these preconceived mindsets (or oftentimes just ignorance to the plot...) Many people are led to believe that both thk and the knight are male.
So. many. people.
I've probably gotten HUNDREDS of comments using he/him when referring to the vessels and I swear to god every time I see one an angel loses it's wings 💔

I could keep going for days, but how does this relate at all to this issue?
Well if people think that the hollow knight is male, that means hollow and lace would be a hetero ship right?
And with that, all of a sudden like magic the hate comments have disappeared....
That's really all I have to say about this topic. It's pretty straightforward but still makes me upset every once in a while, especially since it completely disregards the inherent queerness of threadbound- with the hollow knight being canonically genderless and lace being a lesbian and tw: opinion- transgender (lace is as a default transfem due to her being made of silk and i doubt gms gave her any actual biological parts and I WILL die on this hill.)
But either way yeah I see hollowlace as yuri and it really bums me out to see their dynamic watered down to a hetero ship... not that straight ships can't be interesting of course, but like stated before how taking away an integral aspect of the characters can harm the potentially very interesting dynamic the two could have and I personally have fallen in love with.

(and as always, idek what there would be to argue abt since this is pretty straightforward but I'm not in the mood to debate so please dont...)
