Dear Lolo,
Our relationship wasn’t your typical happy grandpa-lovey-grand-daughter type. We always butt heads because I was so opinionated. You gave me tough love. We both saw the world differently. But things changed after I had the boys.. Thank you for watching Avery for a couple hours while he was a baby just so I could finish high school. Thank you for showing my boys different love than you ever shown me. That’s all that really mattered to me.
Things changed when you got older though and I finished PTA school. You still didn’t always want to listen to what I had to say still (you were old school & I respected that), but things changed (again) after you had that really bad fall. I was the only one home with you & Lola. I had to keep rushing to Walgreens for more bandages and wrap because there was way too much blood. I had to lie to convince you to go to the hospital for stitches.. I had to tell you my Dad recommended you to go in order for you to even get into my car. At the hospital, you kept asking for me and making sure I was by you whenever they did something. You put your pride aside and thanked me for taking care of you. The following week when the PT came to visit, you even told him how good I took care of you and that really meant something to me.
Last Wednesday, I’m so glad I went to visit you & Lola at home.. it was sooo out of my routine but something made me NEED to visit. Aaron & I were the last ones to see you before you went into the hospital that night. You asked me to print you out pictures of you and Asher. We made plans for me to come back and visit with the boys and we’d bring those pictures.. I went to go print them out that day.. but who knew I wouldn’t be able to give them to you? Who knew you wouldn’t be able to see them? There’s nothing I want more right now than to give you those pictures and see your face light up when they were in your hands. I’m so sorry I didn’t get to give them to you sooner.. this regret will eat me alive.
Say hi to Brittany for us. We love and miss you both.
