Help! What book is JD reading in Dead Girl Walking?
S2 Hannibal: Hannibal is a free being!
S3 Will: Ya, right, you’re free, bye. *Throws a sock*
Will: You crushed into my life and ruined everything——😡🤬
Hannibal: I'm your crush?! 😚🥰
AU canon but fem! Hannibal
She would start seducing Will since S1.
Oh you kissed Alana and it didn’t work? Try it with me.
Will’s appointments is half hour later from Hannibal’s last patient, and she used this 30min to do make up. Different style of makeup each week, just to see which one Will likes more (Will wasn’t even aware of it).
Hannibal would also act as she’s not physically strong and things, asks Will to carry things for her, help her with labor intensive works etc. So when Will first accuses Hannibal of being the Ripper, other people are like nah bro you’re mad, she can’t even carry a heavy bucket of water not to mention a body.
Plot twist: Hannibal built a fully equipped gym in his basement, so that she can workout her muscles without catching attention.
Post fall, Will is still struggling to accept that they LIVED. He still kinda wants to die with Hannibal, still believes that monsters like them do not deserve free reign on earth. Hannibal seduces him into making love and temporarily forget about his moral struggle —— until Will’s post-ejacuation sage time (Hannibal does not have that cuz she’s female and she wants to go for a second round). In his sage time Will decided that no they should still be dead together and yes that would be best for the world and for the love of god why is he even having sex with Hannibal that makes zero sense at all!!!!!
And yes, Hannibal and Will are both the kind of person to hide a knife or scalpel underneath their pillow, so it was quite easy for Will to grab one right after the thought crossed his mind and the idea of dying together is soooooo tempting and he couldn’t let go.
So now we have both Hannibal and Will with shaky legs (they just both had orgasm) fighting in their bed with Will trying to kill Hannibal and telling her——
We don’t deserve life
Let go, Hannibal, I won’t leave you alone
Worry not, we will meet each other in hell, soon, I promise
Meanwhile Hannibal is like NO WE DESERVE LIFE GIVE ME THE KNIFE CALM DOWN WILL while trying her best to subdue Will without hurting themselves (which is a bit hard under the circumstances).
#AU or IF or whatever I just want to see Hannibal gets hung in his own basement with his own hooks 🪝 by Will.
Hannibal would do his best to maintain his dignity and act as if gravity is not pulling his joints apart.
Meanwhile Will is taunting him: How does it feel to be the meat for once, Doctor Lecter?
Hannibal: Refreshing.
i'm not reblogging this directly so as not to derail, but i think this line gets misinterpreted pretty regularly within the fandom and i wanted to go over that + offer my interpretation :3
the original line it's referencing comes from act 3, scene 1 of romeo and juliet, after romeo kills tybalt to avenge mercutio:
tybalt falls benvolio: romeo, away, begone! the citizens are up, and tybalt slain. sound not amazed. the prince will doom thee death if thou art taken. hence, be gone, away. romeo: o, i am fortune's fool!
here, romeo is remarking on his bad luck after being effectively doomed by fate (and more broadly, the narrative). to atone for tybalt's murder, romeo has to leave verona on pain of death, pretty much because he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
the line can also apply to his relationship with juliet. had circumstances been different, she and romeo could have had a happy life together. it was fate that kept them apart, not a lack of love. fortune would have them on opposite sides.
will's arc, however, was set into motion because of hannibal. he was manipulated into killing gjh and then eventually randall tier, although tier's murder was more by will's volition than hannibal's. then in season 3b, after will has found stability with molly, hannibal returns and gets will to kill again.
i think that if will hadn't met hannibal, he would have had a chance at a happy, normal life, or as close to one as he could get. will's relationship with molly was an attempt to reclaim that life from hannibal- to save himself from hannibal's perception of him. but hannibal ultimately came between will and molly, just as fate prevented romeo from finding a sense of stability in juliet.
so is this line romantic? yeah, if you want it to be! hannibal's manipulation of will did come from a place of love ("no one can be fully aware of another human being unless we love them. by that love, we see potential in our beloved. through that love, we allow our beloved to see their potential. expressing that love, our beloved's potential comes true") but it also deprived will of the normalcy that i think on some level, he craved almost as much as he did understanding.
but i don't think this line is a proclamation of love from will as much as it is an announcement of blame. will blames hannibal for the loss of the life he could have had before hannibal or with molly (which parallels romeo's banishment from verona) and it's not until the finale that we actually see him choose hannibal.
tldr: will is saying that he's not a victim of fate, he's a victim of hannibal. here's the original post (op is cool, go check em out!!)
AU where Will has inherited mage bloodline and can change people into dogs (no one knows about it)
That’s how he adopted his dogs, some of them are real strays that he adopted for himself, others are sinners that evaded the legal system and he just couldn’t turn a blind eye on them.
So in S2 after he’s acquitted he made plans to turn Hannibal into dog and adopted him. He puts on a tight leash in case Hannibal’s got smart ideas. He still calls the dog Hannibal, because no one would have believed Hannibal is now a dog.
Then when Hannibal is officially declared missing Will was marked at the primary suspect, Jack came to interview him but they couldn’t find evidence so Will is counted as innocent. Will even showed dognnibal to Jack and called his name Hannibal in front of Jack, but Jack just thought it weird and that the dog does behave somewhat like Lecter and didn’t think too much about it (except that he’s somewhat worried about Will’s mental status in adopting dog and name it as his psychiatrist who he claims to have framed him).
Hannibal, contrary to many’s expectation, was not that opposed to being raised by Will. He has expected some level of payback with Will acquitted. While this does blow his mind a bit, living with Will 24/7 isn’t that bad after all.
However, what dog Hannibal hates most is that he sheds hair. Yes, he hates it especially when he himself is shedding so the hairs just follow him EVERYWHERE.
Needless to say, dog Hannibal has been sulking about his hair shedding since day 1 of his dog life.
Will noticed Hannibal being unhappy, but he thought that’s normal when you lost all your power and put on a leash and put through dog training by someone you saw as a plaything. He has no idea about the real reason behind Hannibal’s sulking.
That is, until, one day, Hannibal can no longer stand his fur EVERYWHERE even in his dog bed (he tried jumping up Will’s bed to sleep and got caged as punishment so he’s staying put with his dog bed, for now), that he went to grab Will’s lint roller for his bed. Apparently he has overestimated his dog self. The roller ended up sticking on his body and it just DOESN’T GET OFF.
It wasn’t until Will is back at home and saw the roller on Hannibal did he realize why Hannibal has been sulking all along. He bursted out laughing (his first genuine laugh in a long while) and took quite a few photos before he helped removing it. Hannibal was, of course, staring at him accusingly the whole time. However, despite the indignity he suffered, he’s secretly glad to bear witness to Will’s genuine smile and being the cause of it.
Hannibal: What can I do for you, Will? Will: Nothing. Hannibal: it’s no trouble at all, Will, please let me help. Will: Well, then start helping by doing NOTHING!
So… it just occurred to me that in S1, Hannibal was both gaslighting Will and non-gas lighting (hypnotherapy) Will.
Everyone's getting mad over the 'he's still trying to come to terms with himself' and 'seven seasons?' lines, but... I agree?
Hannibal, as a show, was never meant to be cancelled so early. Bryan had plans for the fifth, sixth, ninth season before season one had even began production. Will's character arc was meant to be more embellished; his embrace of Hannibal was more a halfway point than his full Becoming. He fell into the ocean, accepting Hannibal's influence, but that doesn't mean that he accepts his love for Hannibal yet (I don't actually believe they fell but that's for a whole other post) or that he would kill willingly, and not because he's trying to protect someone (all throughout the show, he's only ever killed for protection. He's still canonically a guard dog, and not the wild wolf Hannibal desperately wants him to become)
Will WAS still trying to come to terms with himself -- but he was ALSO in love with Hannibal. He just didn't know he was, and that, I think, is the entire point of Bedelia's confirmation; he had a suspicion on what that feeling was, and he needs to come to terms with how the only time he has felt this powerful, all-consuming love was when *Hannibal* was around, and how more of his 'normal' life was a lie than he thought. He needs seven seasons (although that number was actually a joke -- come on, guys) to become the happy, domestic, problem-free murder husband that fandom wants him to become because of this. He is a complex character with an exceptionally long list of internal conflicts, and Bryan undoubtedly had many, many obstacles to throw in his way before he was allowed to settle down with Hannibal.
In short, just because fandom wants it to happen, doesn't mean that it should.
I can guarantee that majority of people could have heard 'murder husbands real?????' in S1 and wanted to skip S2, S3, and however many more seasons until they could watch just the on-the-run fantasy of Hannigram. But, factually, this isn't a payoff until you overcome the challenges -- there is no sassy S2 Will without the imprisonment, there is no manipulative Will without the encephalitis, there is no relationship without Mizumono making them realise that they had one to begin with. There is none of their love until you go through the hardship they went through to earn it.
There is no powerful, consuming Murder Husbands love until they jump over the hurdles to get to it. Would you rather they settle now, or they reach whatever final stage they were meant to get to in order to become well and truly conjoined?
Thank you for coming to my TED talk; please ask me about the retconning of autistic Will Graham
(p.s. PLEASE let me know if I missed something else that he said that everybody should ideally 100% disagree with. I haven't watched any of the panels yet, just reading the complaints people have about those two lines in particular)
100% agree. Will’s internal turmoil and self-conflicts are why his character is so attractive.
Imagine if Hannibal is a python he would have sneaked into Will’s home and circle around him to sleep in S1 and S2, and also when he tries to calm Will down from seizure by giving him python-hugs.
Then in Florence he was really heartbroken and in his desperation he would have swallowed Will whole, then when he’s hiding out in a corner waiting for digestion that was when the overwhelming sadness of not having Will alive on the earth really hits him.
So python Hannibal got really depressed and that in turn affected his digestive system resulting in indigestion and ultimate death (as a doctor he knows that he should have performed surgery to extract Will’s body out and eat something digestible but he couldn’t stand the thought of being separated from Will).
And Chiyoh buried Hannibal (alongside Will in his tummy) together beside Micha.
Will: Carrying the 10th dog home planning to adopt Hannibal: While I understand your urge to carry home every stray you see, there’s no way we could stuck another dog bed down the hall… Will: When there’s a will, there’s a way Hannibal: Will: What? I thought you LOVED puns.
she kinda cooked them
I’d say fair if they cook her in return postfall
Was reading this fanfic where timeline if S2 after Will gets out of BSHCI and went to Hannibal, who decided to teach him how to choke himself because Will looks tempted.
So an idea went to my mind.
Say, after this incident, the next time Will got agitated by Hannibal, he tied Hannibal’s hands at the back of his neck, and, circle the rope around his neck before the final knot, so that even lightest struggling by his hands would lead to choking himself. Of course, that also provided convenience for Will to temper with the rope and choke him easily.
And Hannibal, being his usual annoying self, was completely cooperative and calm with Will tying him up, and started his usual probe into Will’s mind after Will’s finished with his handiwork.
‘Tell me Will, how does it feel to have me at your utter mercy? Knowing that you could render me breathless with a twitch of your finger? Does it feel good to be POWERF——‘
Yes he didn’t get to finish the last word because Will grabbed the rope abruptly, effectively choking Hannibal (but as he said, let the air slowly escape, Will is a good student when he wants to be) while prolonging the suffering. So instead of probing Will, now Hannibal is left struggling with rapid breath driven by surviving instinct, trying to grasp whatever little amount of new air and oxygen he can from that little channel in his windpipe purposefully left by Will. And Will just stood there, looks at him with such cool, and only until Hannibal is at the brink of passing out did he finally replied:
‘Told you I don’t appreciate being psychoanalyzed.’
Then Will let go of his finger and watched Hannibal continuing rapid breathings to compensate enough oxygen for his lung (and there are tears on his face that’s a totally physiological response to asphyxia! Our cannibal looks like a utter mess)
Even so, after Hannibal finally got back on his breath and was no longer panting heavily, the first words out of his mouth was:
‘Glad to know you’ve made use of my teaching, Will.’
(Will almost wants to choke him again)
Hannibal is so funny bc he reads like someone’s edgy overpowered OC. He’s a psychiatrist. He’s a surgeon. He’s really really good at drawing. He’s musically inclined. He’s a genius. He’s an amazing chef. He’s a cannibal. He has a sense of smell so good that he can tell when someone has cancer. I would have made this man when I was twelve
It rains or snows when he’s heartbroken
I owed you this one after I made comments on it a few days ago
Hmm, you look out of place here, doctor 🤣👉🏻
