I’ve seen a few people confused by Susie’s characterization this chapter, but I think it helps to remember she’s implied to be a child abuse victim. She doesn’t like being at home, she doesn’t like adults drinking around her, she stays at the school now. Ralsei’s story abt the dark world showed a barren room implied to be Susie’s, when she fights the fake Gerson she says “old man it’s me!” trying to get him to stop.
Of course she’s becoming obsessive over Castle Town or Noelle, a girl likes her, people like her, she has friends, shes looked up to, she’s hopeful, for the first time in a long time or even ever, she’s the hero !!
