It's hilarious to me when people complain about AO3 and its policies, and what they allow on the site - but it's ESPECIALLY funny when people complain like "Why can't the freaks make their own site and just go there?"

that persuasion trailer was incredibly obnoxious. i’m fine with tongue-in-cheek adaptations but why call it ‘persuasion’ if it’s just going to be a quirky episode of dickinson? that cutesy meta-style of comedy is so tonally wrong and clashes so awkwardly with the characters and  themes of the novel. and like, northanger abbey was right there!  it’s so much more suited for this meta-comedy angle, i mean hell, that novel is meta in itself (it sends up the Gothic genre) and the heroine lives in her head so much she’d be perfect for the ‘stare into the camera like i’m on the office’ gimmick. instead, they went with… Austen’s most sober & reflective work for a mockumentary. cool.

it was actually almost instantaneous, when the depp v heard decision was announced, that i very suddenly stopped getting the constant youtube recommendations for stupid fucking “amber heard caught in LIES on the stand”; “johnny’s lawyer objecting to everything amber heard says for 5 minutes”; “evil demon slut toooootally taking drugs right there on the stand” videos. i’ve been getting anywhere from 2-10 of them on the homepage every single day for weeks, regardless of if i watch them or not and especially when i’ve recently cleared cookies. now, suddenly, radio silence. mozilla’s ‘pocket’ feature has actually even started suggesting articles pondering what we can all learn from the public treatment of amber heard.

it’s like, almost as though someone was uhh, paying to push propaganda to the public? the online public that also included the very unsequestered jury members who would be making the decision on the case? and almost like now the decision has been made & that force is no longer needed, the whole thing has been dropped?

nah, i’m probably just imagining it. that totally couldn’t be what’s happening. it’s not like any particular media outlets have been caught doing anything like that. i’m sure there couldn’t be any others out there doing the same thing either. this is probably all completely normal
