Or have you never dealt with this? Do you sometimes feel insecure and not like the things you wrote? I’m writing my first x reader fic in at least like three years and i just can’t get over the strong shame i feel and i get the impression that my writing style is sooo pretentious 😭😭 tbh, to this day once in a while i still get notifications from people liking my said old fics so maybe i’m not that bad but still it can just feel very uncomfortable to try and breakthrough again 💆♂️ love your fics

Ofc this is my point of view on this, and it may not go for everyone mind you, but I hope this helps!
So I actually used to heavily play idv which is a iPhone game similar to dbd and I used to have such horrible mental health that I just started writing, it never crossed my mind like it does now where I get a bit insecure but that’s because I myself don’t feel well since I get sick so often.
When I started writing I just wrote whatever crossed my mind at 3 am and tagged appropriately, and lowkey the tag was insanely dry so I got a lot of good feedback and requests from it.
There is a big difference moving from a small tag to a big tag, and confidence is key! Make sure you draw them in with a good header or a good first line! And try not to reuse the same word multiple times! It ends up feeling repetitive and it’ll make your writing very muddled!
I tend to drift off track sometimes, so make sure you go back here and there and reread the idea of your work to regain focus, or if the new idea you came up with is really good attempt building around it! Even make it into a new fic if you want!
Character studies is a major thing that helps me when writing for a new character!
Time zones!!! Is a massive massive thing! For whatever tag you’re going to be writing for make sure you know when everyone’s online! It’ll be the best time to post so your work doesn’t get hidden! For me the best time is around night time, cause the freaks (lovingly<33) all come out at night/ref
If you do end up taking requests btw, make sure you state clearly what you will and will not do, I made the horrible mistake of not doing that and ended up getting horrible messages so pls stay safe with that.

Jeff
He knew you were a good fit for him when smile dog came up to you, sniffed once and rolled over for belly rubs on a random walk one day. He was curious about you, and jeffs curiosity can be dangerous even obsessive as we know. But that's not stopping him.
When you become official smile dog loves it when you take him for walks, and you really wish you could let them both stay over, but you can't financially afford it. Especially since the bum makes most of his money pickpocketing.
Most often you instead meet up for dates at the park or the woods, and often times other dogs will run up to you looking for pets only to be thoroughly deterred by jeff and smile in most cases. Yet if you pick up a random squirrel that just sits there at your feet while your wandering in the woods, and ask him what you should name it, he'll give some outrageous ideas. "It's literally massive, whopper would be a good name." he'll say poking its tummy as it starts squirming in your hands, clearly offended, "Actually, now I'm hungry. Wanna pick something up on the way back? I'll pay." You don't deny, food does sound good right now, but as you look between jeff and the obese squirrel you can't tell who's really the biggie in this case.
Nina
Nina loves animals but like you, she can't really afford it. So she takes you with her in the woods to coo at the little foxes that show up, feeding them berries. It becomes a regular thing for you two. Nina hopes that different animals will come up to you but your regulars are the foxes that chitter at you looking for more pets.
You both name them trying to remember who is who, so you end up taking pics of them and labeling them. Nina says she only wants a few of them but then a few pictures becomes a whole family album she scrapbooked herself. It's covered in glitter and each page is a certain aesthetic with all of you in it posing while they run around your feet.
There is the odd up close ones of them that looks like their smiling, and it never fails to make you laugh. Nina calls you her animal whisperer and greets them the same way so they know its her, "Where are my babies! Pspspss!! Oh there you are! Did you miss us? Cause I missed you! Hey babe," She called out, turning back to you and tossing you her camera. "Make sure you get their good side!" Teasingly you ask what about her good side? Making her gasp, Nina's kandi bracelets rattle as she points at you. "Huh? Nonsense I don't have a bad side, this perfection at its finest!"
Brian
Brian's place sits in the middle of the woods, so when he comes to drive you up to the house, ever the gentleman he notices a lot more deer out and about when you come over.
When you sit on the porch, while he tinkers with the car he notices then as well, the deer coming awfully close to the house. It get's to a point that he starts buying feed for them, offering for you to hand it out while he works so you aren't bored.
You wish they could stay, especially the babies but you know better. Instead you do some research with Brian on what they like so they'll come around more often and wont scatter when they hear his boots on the wet grass.
Brian thinks its awfully nice every time, like a dream when he watches you and the deer being so relaxed. Like your lives aren't erratic in many ways. So he'll take pictures of you quietly as not to startle them. If you get embarrassed or shy, Brian's already whispering to you describing what he sees with one eye shut as he squints through the lens. "Don't hide dolly, you look enchanting to me. I ain't never seen something so pretty. You know I aught to capture it, before someone decides I don't deserve it."
Ben
Ben didn't even notice it at first as he drones on about his game while you sit on his bed, because he's so engrossed in the conversation that when you show him this chunky robin that's been sitting in your hands calmly for the past twenty minutes he jumps out of his chair.
Freaking out because how on earth did that get in his room, and why are you both so calm? You'll calm him down explaining that his window is open and it's just been sitting with you while you were listening to him. Ben at first does not want it in his room messing his stuff up.
In the end, Ben bought something for his window so that the birds, yes birds, he doesn't know either where the rest of them came, has a spot to nest and sit with you that's not directly in his room. He asks to name some of them after dc or video game characters, so now you both have a crow named batman who likes to bring back things like bottle caps, a blue jay named sonic, and a morning dove named Sephiroth. He let you name the robin. When you come into his room you can see ben scolding them for stealing each others seeds. "Sephiroth leave Batman alone, you've already been fed twice today. Sonic do NOT steal apart of the nest. Hey!" He yells to you, embarrassed, pointing at the robin. "Come get your evil birds, babe!"
Tim
Tim already guilty of feeding some stray cats that tend to emerge from the tree line up to his cottage. But after you come over he notices that theres a second cat now? Then the next day when you come over for dinner there three just trailing behind you?
He wonders if their duplicating, but he's a softy when it comes to the poor kittys and you. So he keeps feeding them, and keeps letting you stay over. Until one morning he's coming down in just his sweats, hanging low, tired as hell and ready for coffee when he hears you in the living room looking out the back door asking about the insane amount of cats lounging on his porch.
Tim's walking over confused, only to hold onto you for support as he sees the sea of cats. There is no way he can feed all of them and he's running a hand through his hair as he closes the blinds and grabs his meds. Your quite happy though, they look so cute out there but Tim scolds, standing there gesturing wildly, "I ain't running a restaurant over here darlin, don't laugh! We don't got the budget for one, we definitely don't got the budget for an army!"
Tim's solution is sprinkling a trail of treats to Toby's house not to far from there and placing bowls of food while he's gone so most migrate his way.
Toby
Toby noticed that you attracted a lot of cats to begin with when you went out to town and saw them hanging around alleys. But when you started staying over at his place they seemed to follow you back there.
Which was very confusing, and ended up trying to figure out why. But one night he woke up to tons on the front porch sprawled out and hungry. Your peering over his shoulder though giggling, as they get mouthy with him trying to shoo them away. A fat orange cat managed to slip out of his hands like butter and between his legs into the house, a few following suit.
Toby's a stuttering mess as he tries to corral them out, but you just pick some up and place them back on the porch as they purr loudly clearly happy with you. Later when their all mostly gone or napping, he's trying not to trip on them as he makes it out the door. He comes back with a ton of bags full of cat nip, toys and food. When you ask him where he got most of it, he admit to you, "W-Well I called T-Tim. He lent m-me, me some stuff. W-Who knew he used t-to own a cat?" You tell him that you'll have to thank him later as you toss some toys to the cats. Only for said phone call to end rather quickly with Tim saying, "Huh? Oh, don't thank me. Those cats kept cluttering up my backyard. Have fun, their all yours, no take backs." Then he hung up.
Habit | Evan
Habit mostly scared animals away. They seemed to have a sense for danger or when they are lower on the food chain. He couldn't say the same for most humans. Like you, his sweet angel, his wife who never left even when he came home covered in blood only to rub up against you.
Oddly enough, his woods seemed rather empty until you showed up. As of late though, these little rabbit have been peaking their heads out. He tells you not to waste food on those carrot munchers and you have to hold yourself back from hitting him with one as you feed them anyways.
They like to sit with you on the front lawn as you pet some, and habit isn't a fan. He thinks its cliche karma. So when you attempt to bring them into the house, he threatens with a sharp look and arms crossed, "You bring that fuzzy bastard into my house, and it becomes my midday snack. Hear me, wife?" The smell alone is enough to annoy him. And you just so happen to bring the whole ecosystem to his front door, he wont admit it either but he'll suck it up for you.
Evan already knew the woods were rather dangerous cause of certain animals, but they never strayed past the tree line into the yards. At least not often. When you come over he used to notice the occasional deer coming out but they soon stopped showing up in general.
One morning while he was cooking breakfast as you cleaned up around him you noticed something out the window. He came to look over spatula in hand only to see, a wolf? That was very odd. They didn't usually poke their heads around here. So he told you to be careful.
It really started getting weirder, the same wolf would sniff around and plop itself on the back door leading to the kitchen. He told you not to feed it but you read that little scraps from time to time wasn't harmful. The next day it wasn't touched, and it didn't show up. The following day it brought friends. And ate what was left.
They just seemed to want to lounge about, so you bought them dog bones which they seemed to enjoy. It was funny watching them mess around in the backyard, and Evan got to take pictures, leaning over you to show off the latest one, "Didn't know we had a whole pack out there, but damn if they aren't cute." He felt you hum against him happily, but his brow creasing as he noticed one in the back near the bushes having an odd purple flash to its eyes. Yet all he could say is, "Huh?”

One smartass to another, you guys ricochet off each other and banter for hours. It's always funny to you both, and sometimes if the mood is right it ends up leading to a long night of seeing who can shut who up first.
Tim and you are so sassy together as well, he'll have an arm around your shoulder leaning on you while he tells someone off and your chiming in here and there. When you do, he's basically like, "See? Even they noticed! Now if its one person telling you your stupid it's rude, but if its two? Two people? It's most definitely true. We can make it three if you want a third observation. Sure Tobe's is lurking about."
Yeah, this is why he gets kicked out of bars you 'attempt' to attend. And see it wouldn't be so bad but you had to open your mouth too. So most date nights are spent running away from bars or on drives laughing your asses off.
He lets you steal his flannels too, so when your hurrying out the door just snatch one he left on the hook. He'll make a comment saying, "What don't you have your own closet?" and you'll tell him his fashion taste is so similarly close to yours that he must be copying you, because you could've sworn it was yours. Tim loves that shit, and will go in for a kiss mumbling, "Guess you just rub off on me way to much."
EJ
Jack is formal, not polite. Unless its with people he likes. So when you go to open your mouth in passing at some asshole who rammed his whole shoulder into yours, then had the audacity to turn back and say something else that wasn't an apology.
Jack will stand there and chime in only when he agrees, picking the dude apart. "It's clear to me you didn't have a proper childhood, your clothes and attitude state that. Maybe your looks too, if were talking about physical appearance. Since your so uneducated, the proper response is a simple 'I'm sorry.' Oh, and their right, you do reek. So stick to one word answers, for everyone's sake."
Smartass x painfully blunt, a deadly combo.
One that makes you strive to get a laugh out of him with every remark. Always teasing just to see him put your words together when you say something so outlandish. The dawn of realization before he lightly scolds you, most times hiding a quiet laugh is enough to satisfy you.
Jack tends to sit back while he listens to you talk or rant, about anything as you do your chores or lug in bodies for him to dissect. He's paying so intently that you slip in something to throw him off, like how nice is ass looks today and he's doing a double take as you continue on. Jack has to ask you to go back, and you recall every moment but the one he's talking about.

Jeff
Jeff gets around unfortunately, but we all know this. And recently he's been hanging around someone else while seeing you. You told him off, he argued saying he told you how he was, if you didn't like it you shouldn't have stuck around.
So you didn't, and obviously he came lurking back. Missing the way you took care of him and held those deep convos. So you said to him, drop the other girl and he can stay, maybe even move in one day if he's serious.
Jeff sent the text right then and there to her and blocked her number then deleted it. Made sure you watched. You could feel your shoulders untense as you realize its you two now. This is serious, this is all yours.
Wrong. That girl got a hold of your socials, after going into a fit. Spam texted all these things to you, but honestly it made you laugh in a way until she started posting photos for weeks always in a hoodie of his or some shirt you knew didn't belong to her.
Jeff snoops through your messages from time to time and saw it. He didn't care when Nina did it, he knew she looked up to him but she even had boundary's about his relationships. This was plain out weird, and really annoying since she was wearing his fav shirt in a pic she posted. Offered to kill her for you one random morning, holding your phone up. Stunned you didn't know what to say, did you really wanna be a petty bitch? To be honest, yeah. Let her get what's coming to her.
Ben
Ben didn't mean to end up seeing two people, but the attention was so good he couldn't help himself. Until he realized you actually cared, and the other girl didn't. She obviously had other ideas for him and he wanted no part.
So he blocked her, told her that he found someone else and made it official with you after telling you everything. He clearly expected you to be pissed and you were, but after he showed you what he sent, that he blocked her right after, you started to calm down.
It was honestly months later that the first random message came. You read it, ignored it, deleted it. Then another one that you also deleted, and another, until it started flooding your inbox and you just couldn't keep up. Confused you asked Ben, wondering what was up, who even was this?
He's freaking out, after not noticing sooner that this was happening. He swears he would've delt with it, delt with her. Ben goes on a fugue trying to see how long this has been happening, going through all her socials seeing his clothes and her tagging you, or mentioning you both in some way like a creep.
Ben's at your place taking care of you and just trying to spend more personal time to make up what he failed to stop sooner. You don't know what he did, he wont describe it to you. But you understand she's no longer in the picture. All he does mention is that she made him resort to it, which is enough for you.
Habit
Habit is shameless. He met you both at the same bar, on different days, had fun, but realized maybe he did want something longer than a fling until he probably ultimately killed them. Something interesting for a few months.
He sent you both the same text, said he was seeing someone on the side but wanted something possibly serious. You called him an asshole, said if he wanted something serious he'd have to work for it, prove it, because if there's one thing you hate more, its cheaters.
Habit had to say he was hooked, this was far more than interesting, this was something he could crave. Unlike the other girl who tried to call him, left teary voicemails that would put hallmark movies to shame.
So he tossed that phone out, bought a new one and put only your number in. Habit even made it a thing to drop by and just crash at your place even though he didn't even need to sleep. He integrated his way into your life in a way that you could never shake him.
Habit saw the messages before you actually, saw your social light up with a random number cursing you out so he investigated, bored. Went through the account while he was at it only to see that girl he forgot about, wearing his missing clothes. If theres one thing Habit does best, its taking care of pests.
You come home to new stuff sitting on your table, like accessories or something and when you ask where he got them, he sits there with a smile telling you not to worry about it before tossing you your missing phone.
Nina
Nina has a bad habit of becoming obsessed over more than one thing, or person. So after she actually introduced herself to the two people she was stalking she realized maybe there was a better option here.
The other girl would ignore her from time to time, toss her gifts or not even say thank you. It started to piss Nina off so much that she just disappeared from their lives and made room into yours.
She came to you crying that night, apologizing. Saying she was sorry for doing that to you, and that she'll make it up because your clearly the only one for her.
It took time to build something comfortable again, but Nina wasn't one to give up on someone she built an entire life with in her head. She couldn't imagine it without you, but she also couldn't imagine you coming up to her so early in the morning with your phone shoved in her face showing a multiple posts of this girl in what was clearly her old clothes saying shitty things.
Nina tells you she didn't know she wasn't over her, and swears she doesn't want her, hasn't even thought about her and its true. She's going through her socials, finding locations, anything to give her a clear way to silence that girl for good.
There's no way Nina will let anyone ruin your perfect future, and she tells you that as you clean the blood off her face.
Tim
Tim had met this girl before you, she ran him up the walls after a few months and he just left, didn't even take his stuff. And while he was wollowing about another failed relationship he met you.
You were patient with him, let him navigate this on his own terms and finally something more grew. He could confidently say he loved you after months of late night dates, cuddles after a good smoke, and a shared kiss at a spot he showed you that you absolutely loved.
He thought everything was fine until you started getting distant. You were angrier than usual, snapping here and there, then apologizing weakly. Poor Tim was so confused he was worried he'd done something. So when he finally confronts you, hands on your shoulders so you stay and hear out his concerns do you finally crack and tell him this random girl as been texting you saying nasty things, posting herself in his clothes.
Tim feels sick that he didn't ask sooner, but he swallows it down and asks all the right questions to handle it himself. Building a plan in the moment, changing details when new info arises. He treats it like a mission, tucking you in with a kiss as he says its gonna be ok before slipping out the door with his mask on.
Masky can handle that, cold and efficient, just the way it needs to be.
Brian
Brian obviously got way to drunk one night and ended up with two numbers, and when he finally sobered up he said why not see where both goes? It was dicky of him to do, but hell he was bored.
He realized quickly that you and him clicked on another level and completely forgot to even respond to the other girl for month as your relationship progressed. He didn't even save her name, that's how quickly he shifted focus. So when she calls repeatedly he ignores it thinking its another spam call.
Brian realizes quickly its not when you ask him who all of these voicemails are from and why its the same as this girl who's been making posts about you? He's confused but explains to you that he'll handle it for his doll and not to worry.
His laptop is open all night as he sits beside you in bed, letting you curl up against him. He's going through all her data, her posts, until he digs up enough dirt to blackmail her into silence.
The next morning he wasn't home but came back around early afternoon, holding take out and some of his clothes in a trash bag that he shoves into the kitchen can. Your messages are empty and not a single text or post from that girl, you can only imagine she got what she deserved.
Toby
Toby didn't know how he got saddled with two girls but he knew he had to make a decision. And he did, he chose you, completely ghosted the other girl.
He never said anything about her, so you had no knowledge of her existence until about three months after you've been dating. She sent you a whole paragraph that looked more like the recreation of the declaration of independence with how much she had to say.
After you ignored her she started tagging you in posts, blowing up your phone which obviously ruined your mood as of late. And Toby obviously noticed, he was scared you were mad at him so he nervously asked until your phone made its way into his hands so he could see everything. The further through the posts he went, the more angry he got.
You told him how it didn't bother you at first but now its annoying and you want him to deal with it because you just cant take it anymore. Maybe you should've explained how. Assuming he'd just talk to her or tell her off until he came home covered in blood holding a cracked phone that didn't belong to him like a trophy for you.
He presented it to you so kindly too, telling you she made him resort to it for hurting you. That no one will bother you again as long as he's around.
A bit tmi? But this was my second time ever trying a monster and it made my period start early..
Quick question how do you think the characters would react to a partner that get trust issues/needs reassurance very often? It’s badly affecting them cause she can get pretty clingy/upset at anyone that get their attention longer more then she can deal with and she needs them to comfort her physically and emotionally
There isn't many who could handle it I'm afraid.
Jeff hates clingy unless you've made it through all of his walls, and he needs you to trust him because he can't trust himself so it wouldn't work.
Tim needs space sometimes, and clingy mixed with the constant need for reassurance? It would never work for him. He'd break it off so he wouldn't lash out at you and hope you could find someone better.
Ben is sorta the same as Tim, in the sense he'd try it but end up breaking up shortly after. He's online ALL the time, if you constantly ask him who he's talking to, or what he's doing he'd start fights.
Brian wouldn't even let you date him. He's gone often, and he'd never want to mix you up with something like his work. His biggest fear is you stumbling into his line and getting in trouble. Constantly needing to know what he does makes you a liability.
Nina acts the same way, but she also heavily trusts you she needs you to do the same even tho she knows you can't. It'll end messy.
EJ would try to console your fears but he doesn't want you to really see how dark his work gets so he'd end up pushing you away just to save you the sight and the truth. You'd end up leaving on your own.
Habit could go in many ways with this, but i feel like he'd tell you everything. If you want to know so bad, have at it. He wants to know if you can sleep at night after knowing what he's done.
Toby though is your winner. He's clingy, desperate and is always worried about your safety. He wants to know what your doing constantly and if you need help, so if your constantly telling each other everything it would help. Though I can see very messy fights about trust, that ends up with you both crying on the couch cuddling.
