So is Taichi/Tai x Meiko actually a bad ship? Or is it really just another cute harmless ship but it just so happens to "get in the way" of one of the most popular straight ships and one of the most popular gay ships in the digimon fandom?

I don't know if I'd really call it a "bad ship," however it just felt extremely forced in tri. It kinda seemed like they thought "We need to give Taichi a love interest. Let's pair him with this new girl because our main guy has to have a girlfriend!" Nothing about their relationship ever felt natural to me and it makes me sad that they wanted to force a relationship more than developing Meiko as her own character. I think it's fine to ship if you truly see something in it, but I'm just never going to get it.

I agree with you. It felt very forced like Taichi needs a love interest but we can’t use Sora since we solved the love triangle in the epilogue. Let’s introduce a new female character & shove her at Taichi!
