Tagged by the lovely @izhunny I was just reading your answers for fun, so imagine my surprise when I saw I was tagged! 

I've decided my mood needs lifting,  and realized the best way to do that is checking tumblr once a day, so after a long break, I'm back. It was really sweet @izhunny noticed that!

Last song:  Baby, Now That I Found You by Ella Bright (Off Campus). I don't even know if I was actually listening to it, or if I'm hearing it in my head because it's played on repeat for days now

Currently watching:  “The Last Ship” on Netflix. (2014) Watch a show about a pandemic! It'll be sci-fi! Mom and I used to watch it together, but I never finished the series. I've been very nostalgic this summer and landed on that. Speaking of nostalgic, Hubs and I are watching “Perfect Strangers” on Tubi every night. (1986) It's held up pretty well and the silly comedy has us rolling with laughter. They really don't make TV like that anymore. 

Current obsession: learning how to sew a zipper AND trying to avoid catching feelings for anyone in the Off Campus cast. I do not have time for that! And I can predict I'm about to become reacquainted with my pre-teen Pompeii obsession as soon as I watch Professor Tom's new show

Currently reading:  Physical Book: the Comeback by Lily Chu, audiobook (in the car only): The Redo by Max Monroe, e-book (only while walking the treadmill): My Not So Perfect Summer by Phoebe MacLeod

Currently working on:  Writing? Haven't written in AGES, but 5000+ words poured out of me in the last two weeks from a premise built on real life events we've dealt with recently- what if a vacation-home rental owner accidentally gets stranded with her handsome, mysterious guest during a weather related event? No, they aren't snowed in. And I can't decide if he's an actor or sports figure hiding from the real world. 

Sewing- I AM going to figure out how to sew a zipper this summer if it kills me. Making zipper pouches and chapstick holders for some family going on a Disney trip this fall. I'm also going to figure out how to do gathers. I have this idea to use some of my school t-shirts and turn them into a patchwork dress.

Last song:  I can't just list one song, not capable of that: music i'm using for my walking so it's my walking list: Enter Sandman (Metallica), Dancing Queen (ABBA), Rumour Has It (Adele, Pon de Replay (Rihanna), The Way You Move (Outkast), OR Swedish House Mafia (either Until One or Paradise Again - full albums).

Currently watching: In order of most recent: Reacher, season 3. Sense8 (rewatch: finished season 1), Heroes (rewatch: finished season 1, don't know when i'll continue with season 2), Angel (rewatch: season 5 - in the middle of it). Finished Big Bang Theory (first time watching), Supergirl (kind of a rewatch: in the middle of season 5).

Current obsession: not a true obsession but something i do every day: pay attention to my finances. i really would love to retire right now, but i absolutely cannot afford it. i'm checking my spending and saving, making sure that i'm staying on track so that i can retire when i turn 70 (in 10 years, ugh).

Currently reading:  I'm actually not reading anything right now. i'm trying to find an author who has a number of books to read and it's tough. i really don't want to buy anything, but relying on the library can be hit or miss (LA County library anyone? so many people). i want to read at least one work from an author before i commit to a series or the author, but it's hard to find where to start.

Currently working on:  hmmm, this one is tough, because where do i start? getting back on a treadmill because i really want to lose weight (i know, i'm supposed to say i want to "be healthy" but what i really want is to be comfortable in my own body and once i am, i'll be healthy)

also: cleaning up my depression house. haven't been depressed for several years, but didn't have the energy to do anything about it. i've had trouble with sleeping for, generally, over 20 years and i have only recently found a supplement that really helps and now i'm getting at least 7 hours a night and that is a huge difference. also, i'm now eating every day, wasn't doing that before, and that really didn't help with having energy and being able to lose weight. my body has been starved for at least 6 years, so need to get it to not be starved anymore.

also: just yesterday i tried painting (paint by numbers) and realized that is just not for me. i also have needlepoint - beginners - because i want to have some kind of real hobby. i knew i wouldn't be able to do it with my glasses so i got one of those 'old lady gadgets' (light with magnification that goes around your neck) and it works well, so once i get things squared away (probably in the next week) i'm going to really pick back up with it.

also: haven't really tried it recently, but i want to get back into writing (been saying this for years) and i think having some kind of creative endeavor (such as the needlepoint) might help my muse. that's what i'm hoping, at least. i have stories!

Personal: gosh, all of the above is really personal, what else? ah, yes: i'm afraid i'm going to need to help one of my 20 yr old cats across the rainbow bridge soon, so there's that.

Last Google search query: i don't do google, i do DuckDuckGo (haven't used google in at least 8 years). it was to find a recipe for a 3-bean salad, and before that alternatives to a fitbit. i don't want something that receives my personal health data, that's mine, not theirs. i don't want them to turn it over to anyone for any reason. i do have something that does a little bit, but i would like more. don't know that i'll be able to find something. ugh, late-stage capitalism.

Currently watching: Struggling through several things at once as part of a bartering system in our household; Heroes rewatch (I still see why I was so into Mohinder/Sylar but where the f was I for Peter/Sylar? It's RIGHT THERE dammit lol) Superstore rewatch, a couple of cheesy movies interspersed with good ones (Apex freaked me the hell out lol) all to buy me the space to rewatch IWTV now the TVL has hit BBC Iplayer because I'm the only one who remembers it word for word lol but I will HAPPILY rewatch to rev me up for TVL.

Current obsession: horrifically unplugged from myself so no obsessions beyond escapism a la tv or reaction vids rn, struggling a bit with rl stuffs so aside from letting myself drift off in shipping headspace none of my actual obsessions, both fandom and original, are getting a look in until I can be sure they won't get erased alongside the daily bullshit am attempting to kick my way through daily lol

Currently reading:  I'm not reading, in the odd waiting room etc recently I've reread old fics on my old kindle as my new one is dead until I can jailbreak it, but it's whatevers available, a bit of lawrusso, merthur, reylo, whatevers left over in my misc folder after transferring my main fics etc across to comp.

Last song: Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac. I saw a video on Instagram of Stevie Nicks talking about the inspiration behind the song and it got stuck in my head.

Currently watching: My DVD player broke recently and I haven't got a new one yet so I haven't watched an tv shows for a little while. My sister and I have been working our way through Cinemawins on Youtube though, looking for new movies to get.

Current obsession: I've really been enjoying movies with Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, both together and separate, and I've still got several of their films to see (and Peaky Blinders). The problem is with my DVD player broken I don't watch as much as I normally would - I don't enjoy streaming as much. My sister also got into Kpop last year and she recently got me into the band Stray Kids so I've also been enjoying their stuff. I wanna revisit some of my other obsessions soon, I miss them.

Currently reading: I just finished As you wish by Cary Elwes - he played Westley in The Princess Bride which is one of my favourite movies. I love his book, it has so many lovely stories about the making of the film. Also recently read Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan and loved it, will hopefully watch the movie soonish. Not sure what I'll read next. New books have been a bit hit or miss for me lately. Maybe I'll read fanfic for a bit

Currently working on: Trying to find work. I want something either remote or pretty close to my house and I might get something soon that'll hopefully work for a while so fingers crossed. Also trying to focus on things I love and keep my stress down, and it's working maybe 60% of the time.

Personal: I think on and off about getting counselling but I keep wavering. Largely cause I know that'll cost money and I feel like getting more money is the better option at the moment. I really probably should cause of an issue that's been going on for over a year now but I'm managing. As I said before, I'm just trying to focus on the things that bring me joy and to not focus on the stressful stuff.

Last Google search query: Same as prev, I don't search on google anymore. My last duckduckgo search was looking up an online calculator. I have an actual one + my phone but they're both in my desk and I was comfy on my bed. I wanted one cause I just got a JB Hi-Fi (a store that sells DVDs, CDs, stuff like that) voucher as a belated birthday present and I was trying to work out what to get. Currently watching: Nothing. Last movie I watched was Once (finally watched for the first time this past weekend). I'm shit at keeping up with TV most of the time, especially with a small child around. I will try to pick up where I left off on Twin Peaks before too long, but August is going to be really busy.

Currently reading: I finished Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell last night (it was exquisite). I'll be starting Circe by Madeline Miller shortly.

Currently working on: Responding to feedback on my manuscript, and thinking about what I want to adjust before I start querying. At home I am getting baby clothes and other items ready to sell next month, and going through my son's toys in hopes that I can get rid of some of them before his birthday in a few weeks.

Personal: Trying not to crash out over how much we're about to spend on a new HVAC system, in addition to the money we've yet to spend on upcoming fun things we've had on the calendar all year. Sigh. Going to see Big Thief in 13 days, plus state fair and my son's birthday later this month.

Currently watching: The Boys - just started Season 5. I don't watch a lot of TV or shows, but my youngest boy got me hooked on this one.

Current obsession: Cooking - especially gluten free sourdough. The thought of paying $10 for a small loaf of gross GF bread disturbs me, so I decided to start making my own. I've even experimented with mix ins and also have a chocolate starter to make sweet loaves.

Currently reading: I'm weird and read multiple books at the same time. Right now it's Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (seen the show, so finally readying the book) and The Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu.

Currently working on: Trying to get words on a page for my first fan fic (Cillian, obviously). I actually had a bunch written down and then lost it when my laptop decided to do an update. I scribble notes down in a book first, so at least I have some plots and ideas flowing. Hoping to publish something in the Fall, unless I chicken out again and table it.

Personal: I take a solo trip ever year and just got back. I love my family but I need space from them so I don't throat punch anyone. I absolutely hate my job and am looking for my "next". I figure I have about 5 good years left in me to contribute meaningful work full time and then will wind down my career in consulting. Got to get these kids off on their own first and figure out insurance (I'm in the US so we have a shitty system).

Current obsession - Setting timers. I'm awful for completing or starting tasks in the home, setting timers has become my daily strict activity to push me into housework!

Currently reading - I've just picked up Fluke for the first time in years.

Currently working on - Getting on top of a couple of tasks I always leave until the last minute, and also on turning the YN character in We Got Issues into the OC I always had in mind when writing her - Rhona!

Personal - I've let my grief consume me for almost two years and with it growing, so has my poor self care and weight gain. I'm mentally ready to start taking back some happiness - without forgetting my Dad - and trying to shift some weight, as well as, at least for a short time each day, prioritising a self care act.

I am seeing comments on all the different social media about Christopher Nolan and saw a list of 10 best actors from his movies from his career. Of course commenters complain that he does not have good female parts. I don’t think for some people he can do anything good enough. His movies are great and he is a great director. Why does he have to write big parts for women if they are not a main character and the role not needed for the story. No other director gets this much hate and he has strong female parts when they are needed. I don’t understand the constant hate.

I agree with you - who would expect the role to be pivotal if they're not the main?! I don't think he writes women poorly myself. Ariadne in Inception for a start - such a pivotal and strong character, despite it being kind of "to the side" of the main character. I don't think what he writes for women is bad at all. And besides that, people seem to neglect to remember he is a man - there's only so much men know about being a woman and therefore, there is only so much they can write. Emma Thomas is a strong ass woman, and if she felt he was poor in that area, or was misogynistic (as gets thrown around) I think she would string him up by the ballbag! People like to eff and blind about him because it gains views and interactions. He's not perfect - he's a human being after all - but he definitely isn't anywhere near as shitty as people like to claim.
