“scientists don’t want you know” is a phrase that always cracks me up because if you actually meet a scientist they will be shaking and crying like an overstimulated chihuahua with the need to let you know

ATTENTION MUTUALS:
You're all wonderful & ily
Scattered through the ordinary world there are books and artifacts and perhaps people who are like doorways into impossible realms, of impossible and contradictory truth.
—Jorge Luis Borges
Remember how Peggy Carter had a whole show, where by the end of the first season, she went "Fuck Steve Rogers" (~1946) and moved on with her life.
And then the Avengers: Endgame writers (who made that show) went fuck that and turned her into a love interest goal for Steve Rogers and she had 0 lines.
peggy carter at no point said "fuck steve rogers."
peggy carter moved on after a long and terrible mourning period because she needed to survive because, as far as she knew, steve was dead.
she did not let go of his memory because
they had a toxic or otherwise problematic relationship
she didn't love him
she didn't want to be in a relationship with him
she, in fact, kept his picture for decades and was inconsolable into her late nineties when dementia made her think he was gone all over again.
in endgame, peggy:
had lines
had fucking subordinates
was the director of SHIELD
if anyone is reducing her to a love interest goal it is not steve rogers, it is not the writers, it is you.
On top of this (because I assume its about Daniel) Peggy & Daniel broke up before Steve went back in time
And Steve, if he had seen Peggy happy with someone he wouldve politely left her be because hes a fucking gentleman and if anyone argues he wouldn't and hed force them to break up then you're writing your own fanfic and subjecting the rest of us to it
Peggy moved on because she had to. Because Steve was dead and wallowing wasnt going to do anything to bring him back
It really is crazy how if you mention you write fanfiction with people outside fandom, they're always like "you should change the names and try to sell it." It misses the point (fun), but more importantly to me, I get slightly (and I know irrationally) insulted on a craft level. Excuse me, my fanfic is entwined with the canon, thank you very much. I wish sometimes less entwined. You wouldn't believe the stupid bullshit some of my fics have to include because of canon.
the sun better fucking shine on them marvel I'm so fucking serious don't play with me

that’s just my nightstand knife don’t worry
the fic you write doesn’t have to be a masterpiece, it just has to be the story you want to explore for yourself and your own enjoyment
No, absolutely not, be gone, you cute, curly, wet little demon!
So many years into my addiction...and still, I'm finding images I've never seen.

i made a post like this before but I can't find it now. so. I'll just redo it.
What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
Okay, now we're getting a bit overly dramatic...
