broke witch hacks 🍄
🌙 use old socks to make spell satchets! these are also great because theyve spent a lot of time with you, so the spell will have an enhanced effect :))
🌙 buy your herbs in bulk!!!!!!!!! never pay more than a dollar for a lil bag of herbs! buy huge bags of them, you wont regret this! i recently bought a huge container of cinnamon sticks, i absolutely love it.
🌙 if you simply cannot get a physical copy of a book, download a pdf of old grimoires and spellbooks! theres so much knowledge out there, you just have to go find it!
🌙 cant afford fancy herbs? thats okay! table salt can be used in almost every recipe, (savory) and has cleansing properties. it can also protect against misfortune. pepper is also good for banishing negativity, and if you can get your hands on some cinnamon or sage those are wonderful for drawing love and happiness, and sage is perfect for cleansing.
🌙 if you cant afford a big fancy leather vintage whatever book for your bos, its okay! a composition book is fine. better yet, you can use the notes app on your phone! this is great for if youre on the go.
🌙 not being able to afford fancy shiny gems and crystals is okay!!!!!! stones you find yourself have a much more sentimental value and can be used just as youd use any other rock.
🌙 you dont have to dress witchy!!!!!!!!! witches can wear whatever, they dont have to wear all black and crystal necklaces! although thats the aesthetic i hope to achieve
🌙 meditate. even if its the only magick you can do! try energy work!!!!
🌙 collect rocks and sticks and stones and plants you find! go outside hunting for cool rocks! talk to the bugs! hug the trees!
🌙 hotels sometimes have tea in the lobby, steal a crap ton of teabags because fuck capitalism
the most magickal tool is yourself. you are divine 💘

When Your Spell Fails
no witch succeeds with their spells 100% of the time. here’s a short list of reasons why it could have happened and some solutions
possible reasons why:
distraction - a spell you’re not invested in isn’t going to have much power behind it. if you’re concentrated more on you. if you cast a motivation spell while planning out your vacation, it’s going to subtract from that motivation.
rosemary replaces everything - supposedly. it supplies general power, but if you add nothing into the spell that has any real meaning to you, then what is that power supposed to do? where does that energy go with no direction?
associations - the correspondences everyone else lists for herbs and stones and planets can be very useful, but sometimes you have a personal conflicting association. perhaps lavender is gross to you, and not peaceful at all. then that dream sachet isn’t going to give you peaceful dreams.
didn’t help the spell - magic does not exist in a vaccum. spells can only do so much, but if you don’t make the effort, it much less likely to work. job spells dont work if you don’t fill out applications, love spells don’t work if you don’t go out and talk to people, and so on.
too many cooks - if you cast 10 love spells, and yet no one is attracted to you, it’s entirely possible they all did work but they all conflicted with each other, and ended up canceling each other out.
shot for the stars- sometimes you try to achieve something, and you set your expectations too high. either it’s impossible, you’re trying from the wrong angle, or you didn’t get as much as you wanted.
cancellation - sometimes a spell may appear not to work when it does, but the results are invisible because it canceled something else out. say you cast a money spell and get no extra cash after several weeks, it could be just helping you maintain your current income and blocking extraneous expenses.
impatience - unless you programmed a working time limit into it, the spell could be working and you just don’t see the results yet. these things can take time.
out of your depth - if you don’t feel like you’re ready to do a spell, your lack of confidence or discomfort can either disable the spell or not give it enough power to work
what to do:
take a break, ground, cleanse, and give it time. refocus your intentions
contemplate each ingredient and step in the spell, and modify
use the ingredients that you know best work for you, old standards hold up.
think about what you could do to help the spell work. what mundane methods haven’t you tried?
take a step back and look at it realistically. is there another angle you can approach this from, can you break it down into smaller steps?
return to the spells you are comfortable doing, and work from there.
Latin phrases to use as incantations.

Im witches
In Norse mythology, Lofn is the goddess of forbidden loves - any romantic love that is forbidden or frowned upon by family, clan, or society. While she may not change the minds of the disapproving, she gives star-crossed lovers permission to find a way to be together and create their own hearth where the vision is more tolerant. She is also a goddess of games.
Today she is invoked by lgbt people, as well as those who have nonstandard relationship styles. Her symbols are keys and Lavender is her flower (Lofnarblóm in Icelandic means “Lofn’s flower”). She is also one of goddess’ Frigg’s handmaidens, just like Sjofn, goddess of affection, whom she is very close with. (picture)
was she, yknow, obssessed with the goddess artemis at a young age?
It's fascinating that people bring up the handful of males killed it witch hunts as proof men can be witches. First of all it's pretty safe to say the vast majority of people killed for being witches did not in fact engage with any kind practice of magic. The killing of witches had nothing to do with actually practicing any kind of magic. It was about the socioeconomic suppression of females, especially those with valuable knowledge. Those people killed for being witches were not involved in wicca, they were not involved in whatever shit Allister Crowley cooked up. Using The Crucible to prove men can be witches is also nonsensical because the whole point is that every single one of the people accused were innocent of practicing witchcraft.
In the waves of European witch hunts there were a small number of males killed. Estimates vary anywhere from 10% to less then .5% of those killed were male. Again the likelihood is none of these people were involved in any magical praxis but 1) mentally ill, 2) had some sort of physical deformity 3)a developmental disorder 4) had something worth having near someone with power or 5)was associated with a powerful or wealthy woman. At any rate when 90% of victims share a single characteristic it's pretty clear those outside that main group are merely collateral damage.
It's the whataboutism logic that has MRAs come up with when feminists try to have a conversation about male pattern violence. The will say women commit rape too. Which of course is true some females have committed rape and sexual assault. That doesn't change the fact that 90-95% of rapes regardless of the victim's sex are committed by males. Hence rape is a manifestation of male pattern violence. The 5-10% of female sex offenders are 1) statistically insignificant 2)outliers. Crying men get raped too or women rape too obscures the core issue. The thing that motivates the vast majority of violence. Saying men were kill for being witches tries to hide the universally acknowledged motivation behind witch trials-misogyny!
There are many reasons why witches can only be female that are foundational to magic itself. Magic is an act of creation, males are not capable of such creation. I could go on there and if you wish to, please elaborate on magic being a manifestation of female being and energy.
But far more relevant to a discussion of history of European witch trials and hunting (nothing comparable can be found outside European societies) is the fact that what one might marginally associate with modern witchcraft was knowledge shared matrilinally, from mother to daughter. This magic education was imparted by females to females and was in fact the most cutting edge and serviceable practice of medicine. Men called doctors had very little accurate knowledge of the human body. Surgeons who were essentially barbers didn't even yet exist and would gain any legitimacy until a surgeon successfully fixed the king of France's anal fistula (the surgeon practiced and killed many poor in his development of the surgery. )
Women were midwives. They understood the body, especially the female body in much more advanced way.
These "witches" were midwives knowledgeable about herbal medicine. Something beyond the understanding of men because the knowledge of plants again was imparted between women. These women were the preferred source of medical treatment. They didn't kill their patients as regularly. Their patients delivered healthier babies, their mothers had a lover rate of maternal mortality than women seen to by a doctor. As a result these women became wealthy. Some quite wealthy. Wealthy enough they could live outside the the tight social restraints most women lived under. This of course was unacceptable. Women being educated, women being financially independent, women having a profession exclusively female other than prostitution. These were the original targets of the witch hunts. It then expanded beyond these knowledgeable women to any woman with wealth. Many widows were charged and hung for witchcraft based on a male neighbor's testimony when it was clear his intention was to steal the assets of the wealthy woman. It happened again and again. By the time the witch fever ended the women who knew the magic of plants were all but lost as was their knowledge, it's still unclear how much knowledge on plants and herbal medicine was lost in the waves of witch hunting. But also these women ultimately were the minority of those charged with witchcraft. Most were just hated by some man who used the state to murder innocent women.
Beyond magic belonging to the female it is unethical for males to claim ownership of a tradition they once used as an excuse to murder women. Males claiming to be witches are white people wearing blackface.
If you're a male and call yourself a "witch" I fucking hate you. You could call yourself literally ANY other term but you choose to appropriate women's practises and terms instead. It is male entitlement and misogyny at its finest.
A term they themselves abandoned and then vilified women with. A term they slung at women as they abused and tortured and murdered them. A term they defined with the blood of women.
But now that women reclaim it, suddenly men wish to use it to and claim we are barring them from it.
No. You barred yourselves with blood and hate. That is a curse that can't be cast out.
Fuck men calling themselves witches. That is no longer for them. I will not allow the defilement of the torment that my witch sisters endured at the hands of men by allowing men to wear the term witch. Fuck that.
If you're a male and call yourself a "witch" I fucking hate you. You could call yourself literally ANY other term but you choose to appropriate women's practises and terms instead. It is male entitlement and misogyny at its finest.

Bigger Devotional Ideas
For when you really want to do something out of the ordinary. This none of these are requirements and it’s definitely not a complete list, just something to get the ideas flowing.
Write a song, or a few songs, or a whole album…
Hold a feast in their honor. Invite all your friends. This can be done with subtlety.
Cook a meal for the deity. Incorporate foods and ingredients that are considered sacred to them, or traditional foods from that region.
Devote a period of time (like a week or a month) just to them, studying all you can about them and acting on your best behavior.
Have friends in the faith? Host a libation or ritual in the deity’s honor!
Make a statue out of clay, or another craft in a medium that is a healthy challenge for you.
Create your own devotional jewelry, prayer beads, etc.
Create your own altar items, such as candles, altar cloths, offering dishes, etc.
Go on a journey to somewhere particularly sacred to the deity.
Name something important after them like a pet, original character, or online business.
