file -> phrases that are going to shift something in me forever
some hyper famous artists like Van Gogh transcend overratedness and become underrated because they're so normalized. Like I'll look at a van Gogh and I'm like wait this really is amazing you guys don't get it
Shakespeare is like this
It do be like that sometimes
crime and punishment really opens like “it was sweltering in saint petersburg. it was unbelievably hot. raskolnikov pondered how not to look suspicious while going to commit his murder. he put on his coat.”
it is so funny that raskolnikov’s whole family believes the dunya/luzhin engagement drama is the A-plot of their drama in petersburg while raskolnikov is like going around the city in a complete delirium telling everyone about how he killed two people. and the thing is raskolnikov ALSO thinks his sister is the main character
reading crime and punishment feels like this sometimes
i'll never forgive a certain genre of person for fostering this common conception that dostoeyvsky's works are all these horribly depressing, hard to read novels because that man's writing is funny as hell and reads like a long distance friend telling you about a local drama on facetime at 2am
has everyone seen the website that gives you a rothko for your local weather?

There is nothing you can do to diminish the sense of sheer aesthetic pleasure that blooms within me when I see a photoset of several paperback books, a notebook with a full page of cursive handwriting, perhaps a crisp oxford shirt or two, and maybe a potted plant next to a cup of coffee in a mottled earthenware mug. Take me away. I'm in bliss.
Perhaps it will come as a surprise that Dr House, contrary to expected wisdom,¹ retorted at this juncture that the hygiene drug would kill the patient. If indeed this is truly surprising, it pales in comparison to House’s suggested alternative: the bold assertion that the patient required the mouse bites to live.²
