â¤ď¸đŞđЏFroggy's Yandereverse GuideđЏđŞâ¤ď¸
In the typical yandereverse there are three subtypes.
All 3 are present in my interpretation of the au, but I wanted to take another look at the mechanics and biology.
Also, this is heavily inspired by @thatnonameuser and @kiame-sama so good check them out if you want amazing yandere twst content
So without any further explanation, may I present to you, dear reader,
First things first, the distinction between yandere, darling, and neutrals lies in genetics. Those who have the yandere gene, aka a (Y) allele, are yanderes. The yandere gene is dominant and will always manifest if present. For this reason, yanderes make up roughly 60% of the population.
Also, when I say "yandere", I am talking about people who are fundamentally missing something. Their emotions and attachments are unstable and need someone, usually a darling, to anchor them. The term for a yandere becoming fixated and dependent on a person is called bonding.
Darlings are essentially people who naturally stabilize and soothe yanderes. They are the emotional backbone of this au. A yandere needs an emotional anchor and darlings naturally fill this need. Where yanderes need to latch onto someone, darlings in general are more gentle and tend to be more able to fill the needs of a yandere.
The darling gene (D), is recessive and only manifests when there is no (Y) allele. If a darling and a yandere have a child, the ensuing baby will likely be a yandere. Because of this, darlings only make up about 30% of the population.
Finally are neutrals, the average joe of the au. The lack of (Y) and (D) alleles means that they neither feel the need to latch onto people nor have the natural ability to soothe. While a neutral can be soothing or possessive, that is more of an individual thing and not about neutrals as a whole. And because of how dominant yandere and darling genes are, neutrals only make up 10%.
Now, my genetics needs are probably thinking "If it's based on genetics, what happens when a person has two (Y) or (D) alleles? I am glad you asked my fellow science geeks.
If a person carries two (Y) alleles they are categorized as YY hyperbonded yandere. Yandere who are more unstable and tend to be more violent on average. Not all, but YY hyperbonded yanderes tend to turn to violence when they see their bonded slipping away or in danger more easily.
If a yandere were to want to have a child with another yandere it would be recommended that they use a surrogate if they don't feel ready to have a hyperbonded child.
But what of double (D) alleles? What becomes of them? Well, people who carry double darling alleles are called a "beloved" or "precious" depending on the region and person. Beloveds are the ultimate anchor and can soothe yanderes simply by standing near them.
With the distinctions out of the way, let's get into how the TWST casts genes present themselves.
Night Raven College's student population is mostly comprised of yanderes with a neutral and the occasional darling in the mix. This contrasts with other schools like Royal Sword Academy, which has a more balanced student body.
Let's take a look at the students of each dorm.

Riddle is a yandere, with YY tendencies due to his strict upbringing. Prior to his overblot, Riddle refused the help of the darlings on campus, thinking he didn't need it. This mindset is partly because his mom is a darling and wanted him to also be a darling. So when they found out he was a yandere, she became very strict with him and never really gave him the darling company a young yandere needs. After his overblot, Riddle starts to allow himself to be comforted by darlings and unlearn his trauma responses.
Trey is also a yandere but hides it well. He is very good at self regulation for a yandere thanks to his role as an older brother of darling siblings. Many think he's a neutral or even a darling. When asked Trey will laugh and give you a cheeky smile before changing the subject.
Cater is a yandere still learning to be a yandere. His sisters really wanted him to be a darling, but when his parents told them Cater was a yandere like them, they just pretended Cater was a darling until Cater was about 12. Their parents finally put their foot down and told them they can't keep using Cater to soothe themselves. Cater has been trying to figure out who he is as a yandere ever since. His current influencer cheery persona is his current personality experiment and kind of a social shield.
Ace is a yandere. Nothing special. Just your average yandere.
Deuce is also a yandere. His past as a delinquent is not something I can tie into this, but his mom being a darling is. When he heard his mom crying about how she's failed as a mother due to Deuce's delinquency, he broke and resolved to become someone his mom can be proud of.

Leona is a YY hyperbonded yandere, which is pretty typical for the royal family of the Sunset Savanna. Falena, Leona's older brother and acting king, was strangely spared the fate if being a hyperbonded despite being from the same yandere parents. Falena also married a darling so Cheeka, Leona's nephew, is also a standard yandere. But being a hyperbonded second born prince after the kind, wise, and charming yandere that is Falena, Leona's canon inferiority complex, apathy, low self esteem, and implied depression, blossomed like a flower.
Ruggie is yandere who was raised by his darling Grammy. He has cultivated a way to keep his yandere urges either suppressed or soothed to keep from getting in the way of his hustling. You can't be clinging to your darling in the slums after all.
Jack is also a standard yandere. He also has strong protective instincts, especially for darlings. Not much to say about Jack in regards to the yandereverse.

Azul is actually a hyperbonded who grew up very well regulated and happy thanks to his darling mama. That is until he went to school. As an octomer, he was already a target for bullying. But add the fact that he was chubby and a crybaby and apparently a hyperbonded? It is no wonder Azul is so fixated on control.
Jade, to no one's surprise, is also a hyperbonded. He is very dependent on Floyd for regulation. Their parents are both yanderes and but there were a few darlings in their clutch for them to latch onto. But Jade still relies on Floyd to stay stable.
Floyd is almost equally relient on Jade as Jade is on him. But to a lesser degree. Where Jade stifles his hyperbonded instincts with his gentlemanly persona and needs Floyd to keep him from giving into his more destructive tendencies, Floyd let's himself be one with his instincts.

Kalim is exactly what you think he'd be. You guessed it, Kalim Al-Asim is the crown jewel of the Al-Asim family and their one and only Beloved. He is showered with love and tenderness by his father and his many mothers and his multitude of siblings. The only discomfort he knows is that of constantly being under threat of poisoning and kidnapping. But that is where his guard, advisor, and best friend comes in.
Jamil is a severely suppressed yandere. Despite almost constantly being in the presence of a beloved, Jamil knows no rest. Because he can never indulge in his instincts. He wants to hold and love and kiss and touch like he did with his family. But he's not with his family. He's technically on the job. And to have someone he wants so desperately to bond to, or at least act on the bond, but can't? That breaks him.

Vil is a yandere. No surprise there. But this also makes his relationships more tasty. His dad, Eric Venue, despite usually playing yanderes in his films, is a darling. And he raised Vil all on his own after Vil's (yandere) mother walked out on them. Vil honestly could not give two fucks about his mom and only really cares about how much he loves his dad. Moving on, let's talk about Vil's complex relationship with Neige LeBlanche. Niege and Vil met as child actors, and Vil couldn't help but admire how bright and loving and warm his costar was. And while he would later learn that Niege was a yandere like him, he still heard onto their bond. That is until envy began creeping in. As Niege gained more and more attention and was praised as a paragon of good and a model darling, Vil was relegated to the status of villain.
Rook was raised in a large, wealthy, yandere heavy family. He didn't really get the attention of his parents or older siblings, but he had his darling nannies and younger siblings. He had his bow and free reign of an entire forest. He had his admiration for Niege LeBlanche at his lowest. And he would find new passion and drive in Vil Schoenheit, his dearest bond.
Epel is a yandere sick and tired of being assumed to be a darling. He hates it. He hates it so much. Try and treat him delicately and he will swear at you like only a country boy can.

In this universe the Shroud curse goes deeper than buring blot and turning your lips blue and your hair to blue flames. No, in this universe, a child born to the Shroud family has a 97.25% probability of being a YY hyperbonded yandere. And Idia was just one such children. But the original Ortho was different. He beat the odds. Ortho was a darling and Idia's greatest regulator. And Ortho was happy to do it. But when Idia was 15 and Ortho was 11, Ortho was killed by an overblot phantom. Idia was inconsolable and nearly catatonic at the loss. That is until his parents made a suggestion. And with their help, Idia remade Ortho. Remade him exactly as he'd lost him. But he made sure he would never lose him like that ever again. Ortho was equipped with everything he could ever need to protect not only himself, but others.

Firstly we have Malleus, who is exactly as you'd expect, a YY hyperbonded who can be very unstable without his hoard of bonds. Because Lilia, the only person whose magic and love he accepted in his egg, was ripped away from him at so soon after hatching Malleus is extremely possessive and protective of those he has bonded with even for a hyperbonded. He relies heavily on those he has bonded to to regulate himself. And he only has so many, really only Lilia, Silver, Sebek, and Yuu, because of how isolated he is.
Lilia is a standard yandere with strong protective instincts, which helped him in becoming a personal guard to Melanore. After Melanore's death and later finally being allowed to take care of Malleus, Lilia developed deep possessiveness. It eased some after he found and began raising silver and is only really noticeable when one of his kids are in danger.
Silver is a neutral with a slight soothing aura. He's often mistakened for darling and he's honestly flattered every time someone says that he reminds them of a darling. Silver is such a sweet boy and the main regulator after Lilia for the Diasomnia crew.
Sebek is a loud and proud yandere. Because Baul, Sebek's grandfather, is old war buddies and dear friends with Lilia, Sebek began his training early and was basically adopted by the bat fae. He spent so much time there and was practically raised alongside Silver. Sebek is the Diasomnia equivalent of the cousin whose parents were always dropping them off at your house as kids, so you're basically siblings at this point. And he loves his family so much. He hates how people have such a wrong idea of Malleus. So he exclaims loudly every time to show everyone how amazing his big brother is.
Thank you so much if you've read all the way here! I've had so much fun writing this and really hope you all like it too.
