There’s an art to being distracted, Hermione thinks. An art to being so absorbed in one particular thing that any other thought – any other simple, momentary thought – can cease to exist. For herself, such a distraction can be found in the form of books. She’s got them all laid out on the table, some of the pages bookmarked (never creased, though) and her eyes scanning the pages as she takes everything in. It’s with this concentration that she fails to notice the person creeping up behind her until it is too late for her not to be surprised when she feels a tap on her shoulder.
Not a second later, she is red in the face, facing her surpriser with the look of someone who is not only embarrassed but irritated too.
“Can you not do that?” she asks, bristling with annoyance. Her hair is a wild frizz around her head, and in an attempt to calm down, she smoothens the curls away. Doesn’t work, though. Never works. A sigh leaves her then, and somewhat apologetically (for sometimes, her temper gets away with her), she says, “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be so – well. Anyway. Did you want something?”
“You’re fine, ‘Mione, rather you be you than some Inquisitorial Minion,” Angelina can’t help but smile at the sight of Hermione so immersed in her work, as per usual. There’s something she’ll never be able to not like about Hermione Granger, damned what the critics say, maybe because she saw so much of herself in her. Angelina’s thoughts wandered off into thinking about everything Hermione must’ve feeling now, everything she must’ve been going through as she was close to both Harry and Ron. Though not the best with emotional conversations, she made it a point to watch over Hermione at the very least.
“I just came over to tell you I’ve got a new hair remedy that might help you out, I know it’s helped me when I’m not in these braids,” she flicked her own braids over her shoulder, going to sit down next to Hermione. “Though, you know I love your hair in all it’s big, beautiful, bushy, bouncing GLORY. I just cannot get over you a sight in periwinkle last year during the Yule Ball. Plus, easy hair, easy life. You’ll be using all that brain power you use trying to figure out how to tame it on something else much more useful. Like .... Divination,” she teased.
