trying to decide what to do with bruce. I love him but I never come on lmfao
Indie+Selective Bruce Banner
fallcnandlost:
“Okay,” he smiles and hands him some ragged looking clothing. “It’s a bit old. I don’t have anything new. No money.”
Bruce quickly takes the clothing, getting dressed as fast as he could. “If it covers, then it’s fine with me.” He said, looking around. “Who are you?”
"We shouldn't be doing this."

“Give me one good reason why we shouldn’t be.”
captainbrogers:
Defensiveness overtook Steve’s form, shoulders squaring up as wide as they would go (still nothing on the doctor in front of him, but the blond paid no mind). How many times had he had this argument? How many times was he going to have to force himself to stand up for his right to stand up against bullies just as much as anybody else? He was used to hearing everything Dr. Banner was saying, but it didn’t mean that he had to like it or listen to it anymore. Perhaps this effort had been a mistake (especially since it seemed they knew more about him than he could afford), but Steve just couldn’t help himself. This time had seemed different, like it had truly been mean to be. Seems he had been wrong.
"Doctor Banner,“ he began to counter, voice sharp as he tried to look taller and more determined than he felt. "I got the same responsibility as everybody else out there to do what’s necessary to stop what’s happening. Just because I - ”
He stopped, mid-sentence, and felt the shock beginning to take over his system. Everything Bruce was saying… It was counter to the accusations he’d laid out at the beginning. He was approving Steve despite knowing everything that was wrong with the man?
"Wait, I - I am?“ Steve asked in disbelief, head tilting curiously as he tried to process what exactly was going on. The blond wasn’t stupid, after all, and knew that accepting him was going to be more of a challenge for both the doctor and himself. So why was Bruce doing all this? He felt his whole body relaxing, the tension leaving him easily now that the fight he’d been imagining was over. Slowly he moved to stand, eyes still curiously laid on the man he was trying to figure out. "You’re… With all due respect, Doctor, that hardly sounds like the kind of person you need. A lot of work for you. I’m grateful, don’t get me wrong, but… Why?”
The question was fair, of course. It was a very strange situation taking place, stranger than Bruce could imagine the other would be feeling. “I think you have a good heart. Too many men are full of rage and spite, but I don’t think of you that way. I think you’re... Kind.” He said with a small smile. “Shockingly enough there’s enough cruel men in the army who are willing to shoot anyone they come into contact with, but I feel like you’re fairly logical.”
Bruce liked logical people. Bruce also liked people that were kind to him. Most of the other soldiers ignored Bruce, or they didn’t even refer to him as Doctor- Which Bruce hated. “Just promise me one thing, Steve.” Bruce said, turning back to him, “I need you to always remember where you started. Things are going to get kind of... Strange in the upcoming weeks, and it’s going to be very easy to forget this office and this moment.” he said before turning back to the door once more.
A large part of Bruce wanted to tell Steve what he was getting into, but he was contractually obligated not to. The poor kid had just signed on to be the governments personal lab rat, much like Bruce had been so many years before- Though they didn’t have Bruce fully in charge back then. Bruce knew he had it right this time. Things were different. Bruce never wanted to be a soldier, but he knew Steve did.
Bruce walked out of the small office, leading Steve out of the facility. “We need to leave immediately. You start your training first thing tomorrow.” He said, leading Steve to a cab and opening the door. “I know this is happening really fast, I’m so sorry. If I could do this any differently then I would, but we need to begin working with you right away to prepare you.”
righteoushield:
The question caught Steve off-guard and for a moment, the veteran paused – his gaze moving from Bruce to an invisible point on the wall. Do they even have a family anymore? Sam, Clint and Wanda were still upset with Tony. Natasha was nowhere to be found. If things were up to him, he would seek to mend the bridges that were broken during this altercation with Tony. It was all up to Stark right now. He needed time to think – and when he was ready, maybe then they could start fixing their family. “Even families have arguments, Bruce. Ours is way more dysfunctional than a normal one, so…” But Steve had hope. Hope that one day things could go back to the way they were. A time where the Avengers would Assemble once more. “You’ll always have a family here, Bruce. That hasn’t changed.”
The question had come off much harsher than what Bruce intended, but an apology seemed moot. He wanted so badly to soak in the sentiment that Steve tried to give him, but it was pretty difficult to imagine that things could ever go back to normal- To a day where they would all smile and laugh together, host parties, all of that. But Bruce knew all too well that things couldn’t stay good forever. There was no possible way.
“Well,” Bruce started, clearing his throat. “At least you’re still here. I’d follow you anywhere. You’ve never pushed me in the wrong direction.”
starkreactorr:
❝ Is there a reason I shouldn’t be? ❞ It’s spoken far too innocently to be sincere.
“Maybe because it’s incredibly annoying?” He said, turning to look at Tony.
fallcnandlost:
“I can get you a few spare clothes but none of my things are in good shape…”
“Uhm, that’s okay. Anything is better than being naked.” He said, keeping himself covered best to his abilities.
STEVE ROGERS:
One eyebrow rose and Steve could feel all sorts of questions wanting to come out of his lips but out of respect – the former symbol chose not to. The last thing Bruce probably wanted was for someone to start playing 20 Questions regarding something that even him couldn’t truly remember. Especially if the Hulk was in the charge the whole time. But Bruce would always have a place amongst them. With Tony. Great minds thinking alike and all of that. “I’m glad he reached out to you.” With the team divided, Tony would need all the friends he could get. And who better than Bruce to entertain his ego and his whimsical speeches about things that even now made absolutely no sense to him? “I’m just glad to see you back from… whatever that was in one piece, Bruce. All the issues aside, you’re a part of the family. ”
“Do we even have a family anymore?” He asked, his voice sounding slightly more harsh than intended. “I left for a year- Maybe to find myself, maybe to get a clear head, and when I came back it seemed like everyone had been at war.” Bruce crossed his arms, looking to the ground. “I thought when I came home we could pick up where we left off- But we can’t. And we won’t. Makes me wonder why I came back at all, honestly.”
captainbrogers:
Steve found himself staring, wide eyed, at the man who not two hours before had been in Steve’s ‘mourn later, soldier’ list. He didn’t know what the man’s presence here meant, except that they had the help they needed and he was grateful for it, whatever happened afterwards. Bruce’s words just before he began to turn green were ominous enough, but Steve brushed them off for the battlefield.
He called a new set of orders over the comms, mostly to make way for the Hulk and an easy adaptation of the previous battle’s plans based on the new addition. Even if Bruce hated it, Steve appreciated the ease with which he could fit into their layout, the additions he made on the battlefield. Not that it would matter for much longer - still, for now it did and despite the brunet’s anger Steve was grateful. He’d known this was going to be a tough fight when they’d gotten here, but most of their fights were tough these days. It was one of the reasons he knew Bruce was so against continuing to fight. But that was where they differed - and that was where the problem lay.
A problem he knew all too well would come up as soon as they were finished on the field. Which came sooner rather than later with the extra help, and Steve found himself taking a deep breath as he wiped at his mouth and began to look around for where his lover (ex-lover? Christ, but that was beginning to hurt all over again) might have disappeared.
It likely wouldn’t take long for him to settle down when there was no more fighting to do, although Steve knew the effort could be considerably harder these days than it used to be. “Bruce,” he called out, looking around for the missing figure. “Hulk!” he called a little louder, just in case. “Fights over, pal, tell me where you are.”
@angxrisms
Bruce truthfully didn’t want to be found. It was a vicious cycle, one that he knew would only break if he allowed it to break. It seemed like Hulk was feeling the same way these days. When he heard Steve, the green giant stood up straight and walked towards him, more calm than the past. “You bring chaos. Banner not like chaos. Maybe you not good for Banner.” He said, looking down at the other.
“But Banner love you. Hulk indifferent. Hulk is tired of Banner screaming. Hulk go to bed now.” The monster stated, beginning to shrink down. An agonizing scream began to fill the air, the voice getting higher pitched, more like Bruce’s. Bruce pulled back, falling into a tree and toppling it over behind him.
“Steve..” He said, his voice weak. He was angry- He was still so angry at his lover, but God was he tired. “Steve I’m not going to make it back to the jet, I’m so tired.” He confided, knowing that in the past Steve would just scoop him up and take him home- But he wasn’t sure if that was still the case,

Hulk aka Bruce Banner
captainbrogers:
“…You’re right. I don’t want to stop, and that’s because it’s important to me. Protecting these people, using what I’ve been given to do what I wanted to do from the beginning - it’s what’s important to me. You know that, and you used to understand that.”
Bruce could feel an all-too-familiar rage boiling inside of him, and deep down he knew he should step away, take a breath.
But sometimes Bruce and Steve were one in the same. Neither one would back down.
“You’re right Steve, I did understand it- And once upon a time I even believed that I could be a good guy. Then the world turned on me.” He said, a growl rolling in his voice. “But they turned on me. People don’t like monsters Steve, but you’re just a pretty blonde haired boy with blue eyes who used to dance around in a blue leotard punching Hitler in the face.” He shouted, his eyes growing greener by the second.
“People don’t care who you are at the end of the day! They care about the nostalgia that you brought with you, and guess what? When you decided you wanted to be a vigilante, to protect the Earth, they turned on you. And you know, maybe I hoped that you would taste the feeling I’ve had for over ONE HUNDRED YEARS, but you didn’t, and you won’t.”
Bruce took a deep breath, his voice even deeper than before. “You and Tony, you gave me a family again. One that I had lost with Howard, Peggy, and you. You gave it back to me- But then the two of you were so shoved up each others assholes with your arguing that you- You- You...” He started, his skin beginning to turn green.
“You and Tony sent me into space! And then when I finally got back to this Hell hole that you call a life, decided that I should play the hero again! So excuse me if I’m just a little pissed off- You Puny Human!” He shouted, watching Steve’s face. Bruce took a deep breath and closed his eyes, but he wasn’t sorry. Bruce wanted Steve to see what had happened to him, to see his breaking point.
“So excuse me, Captain America, if I don’t see why these people deserve your time- When they locked you in a cell and forgot you were there.”
