wait, so the posts about fans telling sensei to commit suicide are fake??
I would go with âmisinformedâ rather than âfakeâ for the posts here on Tumblr. Ishida may have received such inappropriate messages on Twitter, but the posts in question, and their roots, do not provide any proof of this.Â
The posts here on Tumblr make the claim that Ishida was told to kill himself. They almost all include the image below, a collage of supposed âreceiptsâ recording people telling him to kill himself. (Here is a link to a higher resolution version if this one is unreadable.)
As you can see, not a single post on here is telling Ishida to kill himself. None of them say this. What they do show is just a lot of salt and some accusations of Ishida being âhomophobicâ.Â
Now, I have taken the liberty to track down information to put together a timeline of sorts, links to sources provided, so we can all calm down and hopefully stop spreading misinformation.Â
1. The image above first appeared on May 22nd on a Crunchyroll forum post following chapter 125.Â
2. Next, on May 25th, the image moved on to Reddit.
3. From Reddit, the image, as well as rumours that rose up from all the drama and discourse, went on to inspire a clickbait article on Goboiano,
4. The hysteria Goboiano incited is where this all really started to pick up steam, leading to a popular Twitter handle to spread the misinformation, paving the way for the falsehoods to spread across even more platforms. (Handle censored so yâall goblins donât fucking harass them.)
5. The misinformation makes its way to Tumblr into the various posts that are now circulating, that I shall not link to because A) Most already know what Iâm talking about or can deduce whatâs going on from prior information I gave, and B) Iâm not about to name drop people to have any potential demons go and harass them.
Now that we have that cleared up, stop reposting/spreading the posts with false information. I donât care what stance you have on the current circumstance of ships and/or TG as a whole. The salt filled posts screencapped and pasted into the âreceiptâ images were made to personal accounts. I do not want to see anyone that was included in the image to be harassed. At the end of the day, it was just salt on their own blogs/twitters/etc, so regardless of whether you agree with their salt or not, they are allowed to express their opinions, as it does not actually hurt anyone. The people in the âreceiptâ image did not tell Ishida to commit suicide.
Please spread this instead of the misinformed posts so we can all take a collective chill pill and relax.
