BRUNO MADRIGAL WAS THE BEST CHARACTER IN ENCANTO CHANGE MY MIND I DARE YOU
Joker’s been enraged!!
Bonus P5R spoilers:
Part One! Two witches are forced to cohabitate in order to raise the baby promised to both of them.
This comic was based on this post. (You can also see my old version on the link if you wanna see how far it's come.)
If you enjoyed this make sure to check out Part Two, and if you feel very generous and had a nice time you can drop me a Ko-fi. Comics are a labor of love and money really helps out while I'm in school!
we need to talk about the fact that for many of the posters in season one, they are literally on opposite sides and/or have a dividing line between them
and now they're literally crossed over in some way for the season 2 posters
THEY'RE LITERALLY ON THEIR OWN SIDE NOW, PEOPLE!
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS?
i’ve had this comic sketched out for months but only decided to finish it now, it’s based on something i drew a couple years back of toph and zuko….don’t think too hard on when or how this takes place because i don’t really know either! it’s just a concept i’ve always wanted to draw
thinking about how hiccup holds his hand out to toothless and then closes his eyes and trusts toothless not to eat his hand and lets toothless choose whether or not he interacts and toothless hesitates for a bit before putting his face in hiccups hand and trusts him not to hurt him. and it is a consensual optional interaction based on mutual trust and understanding. and then the first line we hear after this scene is gobber saying "and with one twist, he took my hand and swallowed it whole" and the Parallels and the Themes and the Narratives im running in circles in my room
#I think SO MUCH. I THINK SO MUCH. #so much about how this movie sets up universal rules and then breaks them in the same swing #hiccup's opening narration explaining a world characterized by division and violence in which the only way upward #is through overpowering the Other #and that hiccup's only desire is to prove his strength #and then. AND THEN. the very first chance he gets to achieve his goal and secure his standing in society and his father's approval. #he throws it away and extends mercy instead. #he breaks every rule he himself established for the universe. #and then toothless in turn breaks the very first rule we know about dragons (they always go for the kill) #and so. in extending mercy to each other. in trusting each other. #they become neither vikings nor dragons (at least not in the way we learned them. not by definition.) #they become friends. #and it literally changes everything. for everyone. #AGH somebody sedate me #httyd #they break the rules about what they should be and thus change what they are!!! what everyone has to be!!!!! aaaaaagahghghhg!!!!!!!!!

I’m just sayin’, Marco is probably the only one of these three I’d let anywhere near me with a scalpel.
“Animation is just for kids!”
…Ok…Ok…Let’s take a look at some of that animation that’s “Just for kids,” shall we?
Adventure Time is a series that touches a lot on philosophical questions and theories, with one episode having one character ask “If just being born is the greatest act of creation then what are you supposed to do after that?”
Avatar: The Last Airbender dives deep into having characters question what is right and wrong when dealing with a horrible evil. Like, is it better to harm anybody, even the most innocent old man, just because their society is run by fascists? Should we torture those who tortured us? And should we really kill someone just because they are irredeemable? All hard questions, each with uneasy answers.
The Owl House has a powerful antagonist whose goal is to commit genocide on an entire race of innocent people due to being raced to believe that said people are evil, thus stating that the most dangerous people are the ones who are prejudiced and ignorant.
Centaurworld has a scene where a man tries to drown an elk. No, I’m not kidding. That happened. It was on screen and everything.
Encanto teaches a lesson on generational trauma, the pressures of living up to expectations, and stating that the best gift is being alive and having those around you.
And do I even have to say ANYTHING about Pixar?! The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, Inside Out, Soul, and even Toy Story all have themes and morals that can speak to adults while also being simple enough for kids to understand.
But that’s just animation for kids. Let’s talk about animation for ADULTS, shall we?
South Park takes a comedic view of our society, poking fun in the many ways it’s broken.
The Breadwinner is a tense movie of a young, Afghan girl disguising herself as a boy so she can go out and make money so her family can survive.
Invincible has some of the most brutal scenes I’ve seen from a superhero series, including this moment with a train (you’ll know it when you see it) that was so horrific that, when it cut to black for a second, I saw the look of pure shock and terror of my face reflected onto my laptop.
And Bojack Horseman is the best adult-animated series I’ve ever seen because it tackles issues made for adults. Things like opium addiction, depression, the struggles of being asexual in a sex-driven world, and telling one truth that most adults need to hear. The truth that, in this life, you can’t live happily ever after. You’re alive, always have another problem to deal with, and then you’re dead. There’s no point, in this plane of existence, when you’re happy forever and ever. Because life’s a show, and when everybody’s happy, then there can’t be a show anymore.
Animation. Is not. For kids.
Animation is a medium that is often geared towards kids. And the reason why people keep saying it’s for kids is because they focus on the kids stuff and refuse to look at how mature some animated movies and shows can be.
Don’t even get me started on anime

Little Encanto Details (From The Books, Not The Movie)
Note: I don’t know if the two books I read are considered entirely canon, so take all of this with a grain of salt. I read the Encanto Deluxe Junior Novel and Encanto: A Tale of Three Sisters to find these little things. (Now has a part 2 here!)
• Bruno’s room has a picture/sculpture of him with the eyes scratched out.
• Señora Guzmán is Mariano’s abuela, not his mother, and she has a reputation for being very proper.
• Isabela actually broke Mariano’s nose during the proposal.
• Bruno carries a gilded case of matches in his ruana (and the book actually called it a ruana!)
• I’m slightly unclear on this one, but the junior novelization seems to imply that Bruno’s gift can be physically painful for him to use.
• Pedro was a shopkeeper when he met Alma.
• Pedro could sew.
• The candle is Pedro and Alma’s wedding candle.
• Dolores ends up marrying Mariano.
• Mirabel eventually gets a door, which the whole family has decorated with something that reflects them.
• Mirabel owns and can play an accordion.
• The horsemen were apparently bandits.
• Isabela secretly wishes that her gift was more useful.
• Mariano often sent presents- chocolates, trinkets, and bouquets of flowers- to Isabela before he proposed.
• Pepa sometimes worries about the fact that Antonio doesn’t talk very much.
• Everyone loves Luisa’s hugs.
• Isabela made Luisa a flower crown to wear when she had her Gift ceremony.
• Antonio used to hate baths.
• Antonio has a river dolphin in his room.
• The candle never melts or drips, as well as never going out.
• Isabela doesn’t like messy foods, in case she spills them on her dress.
• Abuela’s room is very basic, not like the magical ones.
• Luisa’s room has weights, pulleys, ropes, and bars in it.
• Luisa likes hummingbirds.
• The townspeople refer to Abuela as “Doña Alma.”
• Camilo loves playing football with Casita. (Note: football in Colombia is what Americans call soccer.)
• Antonio has a box full of seashells.
• Julieta has a favorite hat that has peacock feathers on it.
• The fish lady’s name is Señora Osma. (Maybe Pezmuerto is her last name?) Update: Señora Osma/Ozma is actually the lady who asked Luisa to reroute the river. The fish lady is Señora Pezmuerto.
• Camilo often shows up at meals as someone besides himself.
• Bruno’s ruana is three sizes too big.
• Antonio used to have nightmares, and Mirabel would sit on the edge of his bed and put her hand on his arm to calm him down.
• Antonio can be a tiny bit scary- Bruno asks in Antonio’s room if the jaguar is going to eat him, and Antonio’s reply is a shrug and “not today.”
• Bruno doesn’t wash his underwear. (Update: this has been confirmed to be a joke.)
• Antonio likes to catch and release butterflies.
• Isabela thinks Mirabel is Agustín’s favorite.
• Félix can get fed up with Camilo’s shapeshifting into him- he’s described as looking “ready to box Camilo’s ears” in one scene.
• Isabela’s room has fireflies in it.
• Isabela doesn’t like to have anything in her room out of order.
• Luisa is afraid of the dark.
• Abuela used to call Pedro “Pedrito.”
• Camilo doesn’t like it when Pepa and Félix get mushy in front of him.
• Antonio pretends to feed the stuffed jaguar Mirabel gave him.

Oh cool the trailer for the new Disney movie just dropped I wonder what we’re gonna-
Welp I’m gay now
I think i like bruno from encanto. 10/10 movie very sad did cry fanart bcuz yes
"So who did you identify with watching Encanto?"
Me, an eldest daughter* former gifted child with impostor syndrome and the estranded black sheep of my family: yeah
Did I just go see Encanto for the second time just to see Bruno Madrigal on the big screen? Maybe.
I did too XD
That part in We Don’t Talk About Bruno where Dolores goes “I associate him with the sound of falling sand” and then makes the little tss tss tss sound??? That sound?? INSTANT serotonin. Instant. I can’t explain the extent,,, I’m obsessed
I have never made headcanons in my ✨life✨, but for this man?
For this man, I will do my best ❤️
SO.
Bruno Headcanons That Live In Here Rent-Free
Do I think Bruno is asexual? Yes. Do I think he’s the clumsiest romantic on the planet Earth anyways? Also yes.
Bruno is good at parkour, yes. But the second he sees someone he likes, that goes directly out the window, goodbye skills
I can vividly and PHYSICALLY envision Bruno leaning in a doorway trying to talk to his crush and like slipping and stumbling forward a little and catching himself and trying to laugh it off
Bruno is definitely the kind of guy to hear about or deduce some small interest you’ve got and then run with it,,, romantic or otherwise, doesn’t matter, if he thinks you’re cool he’ll collect things for you like a bird
Like say you show Bruno a cool rock you found one time?? Expect to find a bunch more cool rocks just popping up, like just in your bag or on your windowsill or something; he might give them directly but he’s way more likely to just leave them for you to find
If someone did something similar for him he would probably try really really hard not to cry and only kind of succeed
He’s really happy to be here
If you directly invite him to something, to his face, he’ll probably go; if you send him a card he’ll probably assume it was a politeness thing and will only go if his sisters do some convincing
After living in the walls for so long, he’s developed a habit of having a stash of Julieta’s food just in case
In case of what, it’s not clear even he knows, but just in case
For the first couple months he’s back, if he’s been observing a conversation without participating for a while, Bruno will occasionally get a little startled when someone talks to him
Sometimes he just kind of forgets that he’s back now and he’s part of the conversation
I don’t know, maybe these aren’t super popular headcanons??? They’re just my personal little ones
I also headcanon that Bruno and Luisa get to be unexpectedly close
I don’t really have a justification for that?? I can just see it
Also this isn’t related to Bruno but I can totally see Camilo turning into Dolores to take some snacks even though she’s already had some and then Dolores going in for seconds and when they’re like “hey didnt you already have snacks” she’s like “oh no that was Camilo, I haven’t had any yet” and nobody questions it and they’re working together so they both get to have more than they’re supposed to lol
Idk maybe these are bad, what do y’all think??
