One of my favorite tropes is post apocalyptic towns being named after dilapidated signs with missing letters, like Novac (no vacancy) and Eaden (dead end). Thereâs something inexplicable about it
CALM DOWN ABOUT NET NEUTRALITY.
Donât worry. They still have to go to court.
But guess what? Thereâs something you didnât know about the vote.
Get this: the vote was basically illegal.
You heard me right. Eric Schneiderman, American lawyer, said in Twitter: âI will sue to stop the FCCâs illegal rollback of #netneutrality. New Yorkers and all Americans deserve a free and open internet.â
Not only do we have another ally, but now we know that the vote wasnât supposed to happen.
Weâve got this. Now the REAL FIGHT starts now.
Net Neutrality has been Repealed.
As predicted, all three men voted to dismantle the protections. Please go to their twitters and call them gopher fuckers.
You may panic, but be smart. There are plenty of lawsuits waiting in the wings. Net Neutrality repeals have failed twice before when taken to court. However- do not bank on it, there is always a chance for this slimy shit to slither right through.
What you should do right now is call Congress and tell them what you think.
If we are quick enough we can force them into using the CRA- the Congressional Review Act. You can tell them you want that.Â
We have 60 days to do this.
Hereâs a link with some info.
Youâll see a script on your screen, or you can say something like this:
I support Title II net neutrality, and I urge you to use the Congressional Review Act to pass a âresolution of disapprovalâ reversing the FCCâs December vote to repeal the Open Internet Order.â
You also need to call your Senators and Representatives, especially if they received money from any telecom companies (Verizon, Comcast, AT&T and so on). Give. Them. Hell.
You can also Text âBATTLEâ to 384-387 to use a simple chat-bot to send a message to your lawmakers.
Text âRESISTâ to 50409 for ResistBot.
Here is a page from the ACLU with instructions.
If you are outside of the US, consider donating to these organizations- they will continue the fight for the free internet.

REMEMBER. THE BATTLE ISNâT OVER UNTIL YOU GIVE UP.
NEVER TIRE, NEVER STOP WATCHING.
JUDGEMENT DAY
If we lose Net Neutrality in the next 24 hours, blame congress. Call your lawmakers now:
202-759-7766
If we lose it guys weâre not just getting charged for using the internet but were also losing these websites
-Wikipedia
-Uber
-Snapchat
-Spotify
-YouTube
-Netflix
-Gmail
-Soundcloud
-ALL online games and networks
-ALL online shopping services
-ALL online classes
-ALL the porn
Just 24 hours until the choice is made. Do your part if you already havenât. Call the FCC and tell them you donât want to pay for social media
-CALL: 202-418-1000
Or text RESIST to 50409 and get walked through the process of making your voice heard to your senator. They represent you and always will
Text âBATTLEâ to 384-387 is also a useful one considering that 50408 is no longer working đ
the FCC is no longer putting the âRESISTâ texts into considerationâŒïž
CALL: 202-418-1000 (FCC)
- say your Name
- your State
- & that you oppose the repeal of Net Neutrality !! if they donât pick up leave a Voicemail
this is literally our only hope đ plz call #NetNeutrality
But in the mean time Tumblr, BREAK THE INTERNET. Reblog these pics, post your own thoughts/blogs, spread the word, Join the Fight!
Donât lie down and wait for results, make the results happen, weâre the people, weâre stronger than we know. Now letâs show it
@shyvaporwave @chicagoxjapan @sangapmarii @cubedcoconut @cutestlesbian-pearl @baited-in @nacrepearl @whateverman97 @mr-universe99 @coolerdeath @shesavampirequeen
The FCC voted to repeal Net Neutrality, but I would like to reiterate to all of you that now is not the time to panic. Itâs time to get angry and active, but not time to panic.
Clickbait sites are painting today as the definitive âendâ of it all, but itâs not. This shitâs still got to go through the courts.
The FCC has tried to repeal net neutrality twice before, and both times it got denied by the courts.
The voting publicâs support for Net Neutrality is overwhelming. Last I checked, 83% of polled voters nationwide are in support of Net Neutrality staying.
Republican politicians and lawmakers are aware of this overwhelming support and have been voicing their support as well.
Doug Jones victory in Alabama was a wake-up call for Republican politicians, letting them know they are not invincible.Â
Join the millions of Americans making their voices heard. Contact your representatives. Call them. Email them. Tweet at them. Anything you can do helps. Use the links provided on this website:
https://www.battleforthenet.com/
This is not a time for panic, it is a time for anger and for action. Let them know that this is not the end, only the beginning.Â
The motion to repeal Net Neutrality has been passed in a 3-2 vote
Before everyone loses their shit, I will like to urge everyone to take a deep breath and focus on the following:
1: This cannot go into immediate effect.
2: There is still many issues that WILL be addressed by the Congress, Supreme Court, and many other government officials have a current say in the false comments, stolen idenities, denial of public hearings, and many other issues that the FCC did not address.
3: CALL. YOUR. OFFICALS. Do NOT give up, just because the vote has passed, donât you DARE stop. Make this shit go front-page, make some NOISE.
DO. NOT. STOP.
SPREAD THIS LIKE WILDFIRE
The âSave Net Neutralityâ bill was just introduced to Congress. You know what this means? WE HAVE THE BIGGEST CHANCE TO GET OUR INTERNET BACK.
We can only have a chance if you contact your reps NOW and SUPPORT THE BILL. The Bill has been assigned to the House Energy & Commerce Committee.
Here is the link to the bill:Â https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4585
Check these images to see if your GOP MoC or Dem MoC is a member:
My state is burning, people in Yemen are starving and dying, Libya is selling slaves, Puerto Rico is running out of medical supplies, Flint Michigan still doesnât have clean water, the state of Alabama is really trying to vote in a fucking nasty pedophile, the orange fool who sits in the White House declared Jerusalem as Israelâs capital And the U.S. is low key trying to get rid of the Internet y'all we only have till December 14 to sign petition, call your senators People are failing to realize that losing Net Neutrality will impact how you get jobs, how you navigate the already trash education system, what media youâre exposed to, smaller/local business, and a lot more. Itâs not just losing out on social media and memes.
Please sign the petition if you havenât already

This blog did not and will not send requests for bitcoin donations.
There seems to be a virus or some sort of malware going around causing blogs to âsend outâ chat messages to blogs that they follow asking for help with the purchase of certain items through donations of seemingly small amounts using bitcoin and adds a link to the message.
The message goes as following (at least the first message I got went like this): âHi there buddy. I need help, Iâm trying to buy a laptop and I canât afford it. Iâm about 0.36$ short, and Iâd really appreciate if you could help me and transfer some money to me via bitcoin using this *link*.â
The small details in the message seems to have a few variations with the greeting, amount and purchased item showing up in different variations from formal to friendly, from 0.016 to 2$ and from a phone case to a laptop among others.
The blogs that are affected send out the messages to blogs that they follow for a long time mostly, so you are most likely to receive the message from a long time, active follower whose name you might recognize or a mutual etc. The blogs that are affected are not spam bots but actual active followers who follow the recipient for months or years and most likely the blogger who âsentâ the message is unaware of the message being sent.
DO NOT OPEN THE LINK.
Opening up the link will cause the virus to spread even more and infect your computer/mobile with any sort of malware.
If you have received a message of that sort from this blog please know that it was not sent by me or within my control and ignore/delete the message without clicking the link.
Edit:
To those worried because they received a message with a wallet code instead of a l8nk, thereâs nothing to worry about. Tge wallet code is essentially tge equivalent of a bank account number. So unless you actually go and actively transfer from your wallet to theurs youâre safe. Opening the messages themselves is harmless.
The best way to know if you were affected is to simply go into messages and see if you sent a message like that to anyone, it will appear in the chat.
I personally recommend changing passwords just in case, even if you werenât hit with the virus.
Iâd know that Gavin Free hair puff anywhere
Jeremyâs adventures with the giant dog!
I think about the Immortal Fakes way too much. Like, just the idea of one of their enemies getting the best of Ryan and shoving a metal pipe through his chest and then thinking YES FINALLY IâVE KILL THE VAGABOND but he scares the shit out of the dude by standing up, looking down at the pipe, and saying, âAww, my favorite shirt.â
Or Michael riddled with bullets from the LSPD and heâs still coming at them, minigun in hand, and theyâre wondering what the fuck is this dudeâs on, like did he take a shit load of PCP before entering this gunfight, but nope heâs only had three Redbulls and some beef jerky he found in Geoffâs glove compartment.
Or Jack accidentally crashing her helicopter into the side of a cliff and the buyers sheâs supposed to be meeting going âwell shit what do we do now?â Only to jump back when she climbs over the lip of the cliff and with a sheepish grin says, âSoooo, we have a bit of a problem, but I can fix this.â
Like I think about this stuff way too often. I need to write something around this AU at some point.
This is the money Patrick. Reblog so money will come your way

I always find it kind of weird that matriarchal cultures in fiction are always âwomen fight and hunt, men stay home and care for the babiesâ because world-building-wise, it makes no sense
think about it. like, assuming that gender even works the same in this fantasy culture as it does in ours, with gender conflated with sex (because letâs be real, all of these stories assume that), men wouldnât be the ones to make the babies, so why would they be the ones to care for the babies? why is fighting and hunting necessary for leadership?
writing a matriarchy this way is just lazy, because youâre just taking the patriarchy and just swapping the people in it, rather than actually swapping the culture. especially when there are so many other cool things you could explore. like, what if itâs not a swap of roles but of what society deems important?
maybe a matriarchy would have hunting and fighting be part of the manâs job, but undervalued. like taking the trash out or cleaning toilets: necessary, but gross, and not noble or interesting. maybe farming is now the most important thing, and is given a lot of spiritual and cultural weight.
how would law work? what crimes would exist, and what things would be considered too trivial to make illegal? who gets what property? why?
how would religion work? how would you mark time or the passage into adulthood? what would marriage look like? if bloodlines are through the mother, bastardy wouldnât even be a concept - how does that work?
what qualities would be most important in a person? how would you define strength or leadership? what knowledge would be the most coveted and protected? what acts or roles are considered useless or degrading?
like, you canât just take our current society and say youâre turning it on its head when youâre just regurgitating it wholesale. you have to really think about why things are the way they are and change that.Â
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD POST THOUGH.
I think what really bothers me about the whole âmen take care of the children and tend house because theyâre not in chargeâ thing is that it reinforces the idea that traditionally feminine work SHOULD be undervalued. That thereâs no way anyone could see raising children and think, âwow, what a valuable contribution to societyâ. Even though families are what societies are MADE of, and if you ignore the welfare of your children the society falls apart in a generation or two.
Imagine if women were seen as the ideal political leaders BECAUSE theyâre the ones best suited for raising young children. What if it was assumed that government positions were sort of scaled-up households, and that only a leader who saw their subjects as their children could be fair and compassionate enough to rule effectively? What is a village, or a country, but an extended family?
On the one hand, the ability to use physical force effectively is super important for a low-tech society, and thereâs always the threat of hostile military takeover, either from outsiders or via internal revolt. On the other hand, a society where all the men want to rebel is probably not a society thatâs being run at all effectively, and there are other ways of maintaining control (ie religion, cultural traditions, propaganda, etc). Women could be the more educated groupâin some ways thatâs even intuitive, since a non-magical preindustrial society is one with a high infant mortality rate, which means it has to have a high birth rate to compensate, which means women will be pregnant a lot. If they have trouble consistently working physically demanding trades, why not assign them to jobs that require more mental exertion? Why not a society where all the lawyers are female, all the doctors are female, all the historians and most respected poets are female? If you keep that up for long enough, eventually that gets seen as an inherent sex difference, and men donât exert physical force because holy shit theyâd have no idea what they were doing once they gained power.
It doesnât have to be these specific differences, of course. But I think thatâs the thought process that most of the best worldbuilding comes fromâwhy are things this way? How have they stayed this way? Just saying âwhat if women could tell MEN what to do!â is so boring compared to asking why we value the things we value. Besides, fictional societies that are created without asking why things are the way they are are not going to stand up under close scrutiny, whether they play into or subvert our expectations.
This is such an excellent addition to my post, @apprenticebard, I am rubbing my hands together with glee.
(Not aliens, but goes along with some discussions on how cultures might differ.)
Not to mention this is similar to real world matrilineal societies. Writing matriarchal societies as patriarchal but with roles reversed is just⊠Inaccurate, dumb and boring.
#i have been thinking about this lately #when you genderflip or racebend known tropes and narratives #itâs never 1:1 #itâs a domino effect that forces you to rethink a lot of âobviousâ things (via @bidonica)
Friendly reminder that this hell site is owned by Yahoo, a company who are now actively advocating for the death of Net Neutrality.
Friendly fucking reminder that the site is actively forcing users to unfollow the net neutrality tag after 20 or so minutes of following it.
Friendly reminder that this site is now actively trying to limit our ability to share information and spread awareness.
