       ”Thanks,” Smoking was somewhere between a dirty habit and a guilty pleasure. Jack had gotten her started, but she hasn’t been able to quit.

         He gave her a simple nod in response before          he found himself casually flicking the lighter          open and closed. It was a subtle quirk he had.          There was a moment of silence and while he          never was one to be bothered with a lack of          conversation, he knows it makes other people          a bit uncomfortable. So, he improvises.

                                    "-- Are you from around here?"

"On a scale of one to ten, how good are you at cuddling?"

           There's a moment of hesitation and a look of confusion           as he glances at the other. It really wasn't a question           he had been expecting, nor was it one he really had a           good answer for. He wasn't exactly the cuddling type.

           He’s crashing at one friend’s house or another            and as it would turn out, they’re having a party.            He’s already here so he figures, why not join            in and enjoy it? It’s off season and there really            isn’t a reason not to. Besides, it’s not like he’s            going to sleep with the bass practically shaking            the foundation of the house. So he finds himself            wandering through the crowd until he’s found            the drinks and he’s opening a can before he            notices an unfamiliar face right beside him.
